His breath left a cloud on the glass. Mikail saw, trailing down Alex's spine, a series of spindly scars.

Mikhail looked worried for a bit and looked around, he wasn't going to ask him about the scars. The children watched him curiously, not sure what they were going to do.
Alex started to follow them when they walled down the hall.
They quickly stopped dead then walked backwards for no reason, their eyes on Alex the whole time.
Alex blinked with amusement, and simply followed.
They just kept switching every so often for no reason. Mikhail quietly watched with amusement, his eyes constantly switching between Alex and the kids.
A small rabbit hopped past Mikhail. Probably Alex's dinner.
Mikhail glanced at the dinner and let it hop past him, not sure how it had gotten in here.
Alex turned his head sharply. Unlike humans, birdfolk had the insanely sharp and attuned senses of raptors– hawks, kestrels, eagles, to name a few examples. Which also means their sense of smell kind of sucks.
The children quickly stopped and watched the man curiously.
His gaze locked onto the small creature, freezing like a wildcat before a pounce.
Mikhail looked a but surprised but stayed where he was, not sure what Alex was going to do.
Birdfolk didn't have any notable appendages like claws or scorpion tails. So just like humans, they had to find other means for hunting or gathering. But with Alex, he crouched down, took a few steps, and simply crushed the creature to death by leaping onto it.
Mikhail quickly looked away, closing his eyes shut. Some of the children did the same but most of them just ran away.
Alex picked up the rabbit by its leg, and walked to his nest-room to eat.
Mikhail kept his eyes shut. Most just walked away now since he probably wasn't going to come out for a while.
Just beyond the glass roof, rest flocks of pigeons, less intelligent yet more free than the creatures below.
Was the glass… Breakable..?
Mikhail stayed where he was with his back against the wall in a tiny corner. He wasn't that hungry so he just stayed where he was for now.
The day passed slowly. When all traces of light left the atmosphere beyond the glass, the harsh lights in the halls flickered off. In this darkness, however much it was, there was no milky way. Only the miserable, faint orange glow of city light pollution and a few faint stars. No sensation of crisp nighttime air and the taste of wonder. Just the feeling of air conditioning and captivity.
Mikhail sighed as he lay down when the sun started to set and people started leaving. The floor was cold at first but it slowly warmed up, he wrapped his wings around himself to try and stay warm but it wasn't working that well.
The only other of his kind was busy eating and resting tucked away in a warm room.
Mikhail fell asleep after a few seconds, he had lived in conditions worse than this before so this was okay.

"Wake up," Alex nudged Mikhail with his foot.
Mikhail groaned and shifted around a bit. "What do you want?" He asked, he was usually very grumpy in the mornings.
"I want you to go." Alex mumbled.
