Cas laughed "oh you poor thing." He shook his head and snuggled into tolly, watching the puppies and mother's settle in for the day
Tolly laughed too, pulling Cas a little closer and laying his head on his shoulder. "Yeah, I was a real idiot as a pup, always picking fights with people I couldn't beat."
Cas stroked Tolly's hair and shook his head "not stupid, just picking out your apponents."
"Yeah, picking them out poorly. I think I did try to fight the mailman once, and you can imagine how well that went over when I was still a scrawny little twerp." He shrugged leaning into the hand in his hair. "It's all good now that I'm grown up, though. I'm a lot smarter than I used to be."
Cas smiled adoringly at him nodded "yes you are. He glanced up as Kitira approached "Cas can we talk?" She glanced at tolly "alone?" Cas nodded and stood
Tolly grabbed Cas' hand before he could leave entirely, kissing his palm gently as a goodbye. "I'll be right here, babe. Have a good time."
He leaned down and kissed his lips softly "I'll be right back." He promised over his shoulders and following Kitira to the forest.
"You love him." She said after a few moments of silence
Cas nodded "very much, yeah."
"He's under that spell."
"I…I know…."
"So you know that what he does and say might not be true."
Cas nodded "I know, Kitira. But if there's any chance that it might be, even for a week. I'll take it." He said softly
She nodded "how long does he have until it whers's off?"
"A…a couple…hours."
Tolly plopped down onto his back, settling into the dusty ground with a soft smile. A few of the puppies whose mother's were still busy inched closer, and soon he was in a playful tug of war with two over a scrap of fabric from his shirt. His laugh was delighted and loud, booming across the camp and into the forest.
Kitira glanced up and smiled softly "hs's a wonderful man. He's welcome anytime at the camp. But if he hurts you, we'll him down to no ends." She stopped and turned to cas when she said this, her eyes shining
"If he hurts me it's not his fault. He's under a spell that requires him to love the person he looked at first. Its understandable that if he didn't want anything to do with me afterwards." Cas hugged himself in a sort of comfort
Kitira placed her hands on cas's shoulders "have you done anything…permanent?"
Cas shook his head "I won't do that to him, I don't want him to regret anything afterwards if he decides that he truely doesn't want to be with me in the end."
Tolly played with the cubs until their mothers came to take them away, earning an affectionate lick from one that made his heart swell, but he couldn't force himself to dilly dally around camp for long. He'd never been good at sitting still and being away from cas made him antsy anyways thanks to the potion, so he began to wander slowly towards the woods. He hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but it was kind of hard to avoid the conversation when they were speaking at a normal volume and the conversation was about him.
"I love him, Kitira. I never acknowledged my feelings before the potion bit now I can't think of a life without feeling them." He wrapped his arms around himself in an effort to comfort himself. "I guess it's only fair. He was never meant to fall for me," Kitira gently guided him to a tree and sat down "he was meant for a friend of ours, he was supposed to look at her and fall in love for her."
"And what about you? Don't you deserve that same love? And who cares if he didn't fall for the girl? He looked at you, he wanted you, and now look at where you've gotten? You love him! Dare I say as much as he loves you. No love spell will change that." She sighed softly "wolves have a connection between other wolves. I can feel how strongly he loves you. That's not the potion talking sighed. That him."
Cas thought for a moment before nodding slowly "sure. I'm gonna take a walk. Tell him I went to find more ingredients and that I'll be back in a few hours." He stood without looking back at her and headed into the thicker trees
Tolly watched him go for a minute before he quietly slipped away from the clearing and followed Cas into the forest. once they were away from Kitira he began to take louder, less careful steps, jogging up to Cas with a smile so he could pretend he hadn't just overheard the conversation. "There you are!!"
Cas glanced up in surprise and smiled "hey, did you need something? Or were you following me?" He asked with a smirk and a teasing gleam in his eyes
"Um… I just wanted to see you?" Tolly smiled with a soft laugh, hoping Cas wouldn't call him out on the obvious lie. "I dunno, I just missed you. It feels weird to be apart from you for so long."
Cas gave him a little nodded. He laced their fingers together and rested his head on Tolly's shoulder. "Did you hear any of that?" He asked softly, jerking his free thumb behind him.
Tolly petted his hair absently, kissing him on the forehead with a sheepish smile. "Um… maybe. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, I just… I got antsy being all by myself. I'm sorry."
He sighed softly "It's okay." they walked in silence for a bit, Cas reaching his hand out every so often to touch the leaves on near bushes. "I meant every word," he said softly, glancing up at tolly as he stopped near a bush to inspect the yellow berries that were growing there.
Tolly frowned softly and walked around to kneel down in front of him, staring earnestly up into Cas' eyes. "Cas, I'm not going to regret the time we've spent together after the potion clears, okay? You're my beginning and my end, my love and my life. I wanted to be with you the first time I saw you and I've never once stopped."
He cupped Tolly's cheek and gave him a soft smile, not wanting to project his ever growing worsies as the hours dwindled down. "I love you Tolly, I'll love you forever."
Tolly smiled back, hopping to his feet so he could wrap Cas up in a hug. "I'm not lying to you," he murmured into Cas' hair. "I wish you'd believe me when I tell you I love you."
He burried his face in tolly's chest, searching for his strong heartbeat. "I do believe you becaure I love you too. I've loved you since we first started going to school together. I was just too scared to admit it. So I tried to move on from you, knowing you'd probably fall for Caitlyn or hell even Levi." He sniffed softly, realizing he'd been crying silently
Tolly began to smooth down Cas' hair as soon as he started to seem upset, swaying both of them gently to help him calm down. "Don't cry, sweetheart. It's okay, you've got me. I'm not gonna go anywhere else." He reached up to wipe gently at the tears running down Cas' face. "I've liked you for a long time, Cas. Almost as long as you've liked me. There's never been anyone else, not while you were still around."
He leaned into Tolly's hand and sighed softly, comforted by his words. He sniffed and nodded "No matter what happens, now or after, I'll love you, Tolly." He shut his eyes and pressed into Tolly's hand, enjoying the silence of the forest and the warmth from tolly
"I'll love you too," Tolly promised, quietly, making sure Cas' tears were dry before he began to rub his back gently. "I'll be here for you no matter what, I promise."
He nodded and pressed a kiss tosTolly's hand "we should start head back if we want to make it to dinner before we leave." He said, leaning into tolly as he rubbed his back
