Ali nods, not sure wether to be annoyed, or understanding. She almost glares at the question. “Yeah? I’m fine. Just… not used to a roommate I guess.” She mutters. maybe I’m a bit too mean… she thinks, crossing her arms. “So, what are you majoring in?”
Serenity tilts her head to one side, thinking about her reactions and question. She's interesting, to say the least…
"Fair enough." she sighs.
"I'm not sure yet. I'm really just taking classes that interest me, which happens to be the Arts, like theatre and writing and singing, so probably any one of those or all of those." she replies, her face lighting up at that thought.
She looks at Ali, and grins. "What are you majoring in?"
Ali tries to smile. great. An art kid. she sighs. “Anthropology, geology, sociology, science stuff. I haven’t really decided which one to actually go for yet.” She shrugs, fluffing her blue hair. “I think we’re in the same halls. Or close, at least.” She blurts.
Serenity snorts. Okay, a science girl. I could get behind that.
"Basically, you want to do something related to science?" she asks, grinning.
"Yeah, you think?" she asks, her grin widening. "And how would you know that bit of information, hmmm?"
She's now teasing Ali, and is having a little too much fun. Why am I doing this to a stranger?
Ali blushes. does she think that’s weird? “yeah. I guess so.” She shrugs, a slight grin pulling at her stone face. “Well, Ms Patel, the ceramics teacher, always wears these super bright hijabs that are sooo hard to miss when I go to my classes.” Her smile widens a bit. maybe… she’s not so bad?
Serenity laughs.
"Good point!" she says brightly.
"Hey, since it's still kinda early, you want to head out and get some coffee?" she asks, not sure whether or not that's appropriate to ask someone you just met.
Ali blushes more. She was about to refuse, but then again, she still needed her caffeine fix. Besides, it wouldn’t hurt to be a little nicer to Serenity. “Sure.” She says plainly. “First, let me get dressed in something a little more presentable.” He smiles, then grabs some clothes from her duffel bag, then quickly slips into the bathroom.
"Okay, you go do that!" she says, then starts setting up her stuff.
While shes waiting, she puts her music back on, except now shes kinda dancing along as she goes, singing along, oblivious to the outside world once more.
She didn't bring very much, so it doesn't take very long to set stuff up. After she's done, she kinda just continues jamming.
Ali slips on a top and throws on a light jacket, then pulls on some shorts. She arranges her hair into some sort of bun, then slides her glasses onto her nose. After doing one last check in the mirror, she opens the door slowly, chuckling to herself as she watches Serenity dance around. She can’t keep herself from smiling as she steps out of the room, watching her. maybe, this will be kind of fun
(Here’s a picrew I found that represents Ali really well XD)
It takes Serenity a minute or two to notice Ali, and then she grins and takes out the earbuds, pausing the music again.
"So… I assume you've been watching me for a minute?" she grins, stepping out the door.
Ughh… it's so hot out here… she thinks, holding the door for Ali.
Ali blushes, laughing a bit, tucking some of her blue curls behind her ear. "Well… I didn't want to interrupt you." She nods to Serenity as she steps out the door, pulling her cowprint jacket around her. Its a bit chilly today. She thinks, wating for Serenity. "So, where are you from?"
Serenity notices the blush and grins wider, already making plans to fluster Ali more.
"Don't worry, you wouldn't have." she laughs, closing and locking the door behind them.
"I'm from Chicago, Illonois originally, but I moved to Kansas then to here. Moving here might not have been as big a mistake as I thought, as well." she says, the last part a reference to the fact that she met Ali here.
Ali laughs slightly, tucking more hair behind her ear. "Makes sense why you're so hot, then." She freezes, realizing what that sounds like. "Its-uh its pretty warm here. I guess, if y-you're from places like that." He pulls her jacket tighter around her, then sighs. God, Al. Just act normal. "Well, um, I'm glad you like it so far." She smiles faintly, keeping her gaze forward.
Serenity snorts when Ali says that.
"I mean… you're pretty hot yourself." she says, laughing.
"Nah, you're good, Ali," she grins when Ali tries to backpedal. "I don't mind."
Ali blushes even harder, her dark skin turning a deep shade of red. She practically begs for one of the cars to run off the road and hit her. She takes a deep breath, liking the way Serenity said her name. "umm…" she looks around, forgetting what she was doing. "Oh, um, Lia's is down the street. That's usually where I go for coffee." She says timidly, pushing the button for a crosswalk.
Serenity laughs and starts skipping down the street.
"Yeah, I have that effect on people." she says kindly, looking at Ali's blush and smiling.
"Sure, let's go there. I haven't really had time to explore, so… yeah!" she replies, looking around and seeing the building.
Ali half smiles, leading them to the small shop on the corner. It was a white building with neon signs and potted plants hanging from the ceiling. Some obscure pop song played quietly overhead as Ali opened the door for them. "So, what do you usually get?" She asked, trying to make small talk as they found a spot in line.
(Love how this immediately turned into a romance XD)
(Yeah, lmao! I tend to very quickly do that. I could do my best to slow down, but, like, I'm not sure I could!)
Serenity smiles at Ali's awkwardness.
"Usually a salted caramel frap. You?" she asks, taking a look at the board that shows all the drinks.
(Same!! It’s unrealistic, but that makes it even more enjoyable XD)
Ali tugs at her jacket, smiling and waving at the baristas. “Oh uh, usually a boba tea. I’ll have coffee occasionally, but only when I need to spend all night studying.” She smiles, looking at the days flavors
"Nice." she says, immediately understanding.
"I have coffee because it keeps me awake in general." she laughs, ordering her coffee and Ali's tea.
Ali rushes to stop her. “No no no no, you don’t have to pay for mine!” She protests, turning a bit red. One of the baristas raises an eyebrow at Ali, and she scowls back. “I can pay separate”
