Rhys heard something, and he glanced down at Amari. Amari gave a look as if to say I told you that there was something.
Rhys rolled his eyes and then pushed some leaves away, wanting to see what he'd heard.

Arin sat up, hearing footsteps. She looked around, eyes narrowed as she studied her surroundings. She cocked her head slightly, thinking.
Rhys broke into a clearing, hoping to find what he had heard in there. He did, but it wasn't what he was expecting. It was a bear, and a….girl?
(btw Rhysander is pronounced like Lysander, but Rhys is pronounced like Reese. It's weird)
Arin sat up when she saw him, eyes narrowing. "Who are you?" She asked, sliding off of Rike's back to land in the water.
(Ok)
Rhys reverted his composure. "Name's Rhysander Pattervine. But you can call me Rhys. Everyone does." He flashed his pearly whites with a smile.
Arin blinked quickly, tipping her head a little. "Oh. What are you doing here?" She asked slowly.
"I'm…I was..I was trying to find food for tonight?" His voice went higher at the end of the sentence, but it was only ever so slightly. Amari pushed through and stood behind him.
"You're three days away from the nearest town." Arin replied blankly, still watching him carefully.
"Fine. Amari needed meat and they only eat meat from hours away. They're really picky." He made a face at the panther, who poked their tongue ever so slightly back.
"They? Doesn't your panther have a gender?" Arin asked, running a hand through Rike's fur. The giant brown bear squinted suspiciously at Rhys, standing on his hind legs and peering down at the panther and man.
Rhys glanced down at Amari. "Well, yeah. Of course they have a gender. But, like, they don't really like it. Technically, Amari is female." Amari growled. "But they don't like being called that. And they don't like being called male." Amari growled again. "So I just call them them."
"Huh. Okay." Arin replied slowly, then shrugged it off. "Point still stands of why you would come this deep into the woods for meat for a panther? You could just feed it a freshly killed cow or something."
"Panthers don't eat cows. They eat deer, or boar. You can't really find them in a town or city. They're kind of wild animals?"
"Boar is the same thing as pig, essentially." Arin replied. "And the king breeds deer. Or…the old king used to." She shrugged, eyes flickering slightly.
"They mainly eat wild boar, not pigs. And besides, this allows Amari to be free to be a panther. They don't get that often, holed up in a house."
"Yes, but that still doesn't negate the fact that you're deep in the woods." She countered. Rike approached the male cautiously, sniffing at him.
Rhys tried not to show his fear of the bear, knowing he at least had Amari. "Yeah, and wild boars are found in deep woods. And why should I even be answering these questions? You don't own these woods. I should be asking why you're here."
"I live here." Arin replied with a shrug. "So that makes it as much mine as it can be anybody's." Rike came a step closer, and stood on his hind legs, peering suspiciously at the male.
"Sure. So just because I live in a huge town means it's all mine? Never mind the Mayor, or Jacos, or anyone who lives in it? All mine?"
"No, that's not what I'm talking about." Arin rolled her eyes. "Besides, a town is different from the woods." Rike grunted softly, and went back down on all fours.
"Yes, but you don't own it. If anything, the animals own it. It's their natural habitat, not ours."
(how do you want me to get rhys to convince her)
(Uhm…I'm not sure. Maybe use a little trickery to get her to go part of the way, and then once she trusts him, the whole way?)
"Right. And as a Naturalist…" she shook her head. "I grew up here, like him." she gestured at Rike. "And besides, if this isn't a human's natural habitat…what is?"
"Well I'm a Naturalist too, if you can't already tell by Amari. And wouldn't an Earth-based Elementalist be more likely to live in the woods, rather than a simple Naturalist?"
"Well yes, I can see that." she shrugged a little. "How should i know? I haven't exactly asked any elementalists."
Rhys stared at the girl, not really knowing what to say. Amari stared at both the girl and her bear, halfway between not knowing what to do and wanting to attack.
