In the land of Ilyar, there are three types of magic: Naturalists, Elementalists, and Charmers. Naturalists have animal based magic. Familiars that stay near them. The size and type of familiar varies depending on the strength of the Naturalist gift. Elementalists control the elements. Sometimes just one, sometimes all four. Again, it depends on the strength of the gift. Charmers gifts are controlling inanimate objects. They can command an inanimate object to do anything, even become like a living one. The royal line has traditionally been all of these, one each generation. But fifteen years ago, on the night of the Blue Moon, the royal family was all killed in a coup. They are gone. The country is ruled by a vicious dictator now, who rules through pain and fear.

The magics are suppressed; using them is forbidden. If someone is caught using magic, they are put to death.

The royal family, however, wasn't all killed. One member survives, hidden deep in the forests. Arin Starling is a naturalist, and one of the strongest in a very, very long time. Her familiar? A great brown bear. She, however, has no idea that life in the rest of Ilyar is so bad, as she has lived in nearly complete isolation since she was five. She is twenty, now.

Rumors are starting to filter through Ilyar that the princess is alive. The princess that they all thought lost, thought dead, is in the woods of the north. (Name) has been sent to find her, and bring her back to Jacos Talrun, the dictator. If (name) succeeds in bringing her back, she will either be killed, or forced to wed the dictator who slaughtered the rest of her family.

There's only one small issue. While it was easy to convince Arin to trust them, (name) has begun to fall in love with her. Which of course makes it all the more difficult, when they bring her back to Jacos, and Jacos decides that he will marry her.

I am Arin Starling. I would prefer this to be straight.

just because i have a preferred genre doesn't mean i can't do other ones
but if you don't want me that's fine)

The template is pretty rough, as i prefer to develop the characters more thru the RP.

Looks: Arin has brown hair that is cut very short, a little shorter than her chin. It can be a bit fluffy sometimes, and she sometimes ties it back with a strip of leather. Her eyes are a deep blue. She is white, with a tan. Her clothes are rough and homemade.

Looks: Rhys has dark skin with dark hair and eyes to match. His chocolate brown eyes are only a little bit darker than his skin. His hair is curly and black, with the underside of his head shaved and a mound of curls on top.
Magic: Naturalist
Familiar(?) (If applicable): Black panther, fully grown. Calls them Amari.
Other: Was made a Lord when Jacos took over. Was forced to help with it, despite being only 10. For his hard work, was given a noble title. He doesn't consider it to be true.

Arin was humming quietly as she stood in the stream, Rike beside her. The big brown bear was fishing, his large, heavy paws slamming down on the fishes, and his jaws snapping down. She was dressed in men's breeches and a loose top that was little more than a binding over her chest.

Rhys walked through the forest, Amari beside him. He wasn't expecting to find anyone in these areas, so he wasn't being too careful. He didn't even know where to find this 'Arin Starling' that Jacos had sent him to find.

Arin hummed softly. They were deep in the northern woods; the nearest town was three days walk away. She sat down in the stream, letting the water wash over her legs. She smiled contentedly.

Amari seemed to pick up a scent and looked around. Rhys glanced down at them. "What is it, Amari? Is it Arin? Did you find her?" Amari suddenly took off, and Rhys could do nothing but to follow them.

Arin leaned her head against the bear's leg with a sigh. Rike kept catching fish, eating them. He was a big bear, and ate quite a lot of food. She trailed her hands through the water.

Rhys chased after the panther. However, being a panther, they were much quicker. "Amari! Where are you running?!" He yelled after them. He didn't want to lose them: Amari was all they had.

Arin's head snapped up at the sound of yelling, and she looked around cautiously. She stood up, putting a hand on Rike's large, furry shoulder.

Amari slowed, and Rhys caught up to the panther. He bent over with his hands on his knees, trying to catching his breath. He whipped his head up, glaring at the panther. "You know I can't keep up with you." Amari growled softly, as if to they that they didn't care.

Arin looked around, and climbed up onto Rike's back. "I think there's someone here." She said quietly. The bear snorted, as if to say that he doubted it entirely.

Rhys finally managed to catch his breath. He looked over at Amari, and he could see in their eyes that they wanted to keep running. "No, Amari. I can't lose you. You know I have nothing." The panther let out a small whine.

Arin sighed, laying down on the bears thick-furred back. "Fine." She mumbled, rolling onto her stomach and running her hands through his fur.
