"True, on both counts." Jack replied, looking at Alexei. "And while some men may look amazing in a wig, I do not." He smiled a little, flashing those dimples again.
"True, on both counts." Jack replied, looking at Alexei. "And while some men may look amazing in a wig, I do not." He smiled a little, flashing those dimples again.
“Oh?” Alexei laughed, admiring those dimples. Not many people he’d seen had them, and he found them charming. “Am I amazing in a wig?” He reached over to grab his wig and fasten it over his copper hair, wearing it more like a hairy hat that a wig.
Jack laughed. "Well, when you were wearing it correctly, yes." he replied, looking at Alexei and still smiling. "Not right now, when you rather look like you're wearing a hairy hat."
Alexei laughed along, “Oui, I assumed nothing less.” He pulled the wig off his head and set it beside him in the ground again. “Anyways, we probably have several hours before intermission.”
"Several hours!" Jack exclaimed. "Is it really that long of a performance?" He looked at Alexei with almost comically round eyes.
“Well, not several hours, maybe two at the most.” He pulled his feet in to cross his legs, still snuggled against the wall. He opened his mouth in a brief yawn.
Jack groaned. "Ughhhh. This is why I don't usually come to the Opera." He complained, leaning against the wall and staring up at the ceiling. He glanced at Alexei for a moment, then away again.
Alexei grinned, “It is boring, yes, but at least there is more human interaction than staying at home. Especially tonight,” he smirked. His smirk was more personal, showing off the freckles around his mouth, instead of an attempted mimic of Jack’s signature smirk.
Jack chuckled softly. "Mm. There is that." He agreed, looking over at Alexei. "Still. The Opera is loooooooooong." He shrugged his shoulders, mouth twitching in a good natured way that was half smirk, half smile.
Alexei quickly agreed, “It is very long. There are some operas that are in a different language, and the story appears so strange. So strange.” He shook his head, chuckling. “It is not so boring as it is confusing a lot of the times.”
Jack shrugged again. "Yes, but still. I don't have the required attention span, as most of the time I would much rather be doing something or someone else."
Alexei blinked slowly, taking some time to register what Jack’s comment meant. His eyes widened when he realized, and a light flush flashed across his cheeks, the rest of his expression brightening up into laughter. “Oh! Yes, that is more entertaining,” he chuckled.
Jack smirked, winking at him and laughing. "Yes, of course it is." he replied, linking his hands together behind his head and leaning against them. "But many would disagree with me."
Alexei snorted, “Oui, I would assume many people would. It is not a common…eh,” he glanced off to the side. Another smile spread across his face, “Pastime? One might say.”
Jack laughed again. "Well. Actually, it isn't that rare, most people just…don't talk about it." he shook his head slightly. "So."
“I see,” Alexei nodded. He lifted his head from the wall to scratch that side of his scalp. “I did not know there were so… many. Of people like us, I mean. Not normal people.”
Jack snorted. "There's plenty. You just…need to know where to look." He replied with a shrug. He sighed softly, running a hand through his hair and glancing over at Alexei again.
Alexei rested his head back down against the wall. He chewed on his lip. “So, where do you need to look?” He looked back at him curiously. He kept his voice at a consistent hushed volume, only just above whispering.
Jack shrugged. "It's… you kind of just have to figure out what to look for. A certain way people look at you or behave, the way their eyes travel when they think you aren't looking." He replied slowly.
“Oh,” Alexei nodded along. “Did I have that certain look?” He lifted his eyebrows in interest, the corner of his lips curling into another small grin. “I do not remember, it was all of… half an hour ago.”
Jack laughed. "Yes, you did." He replied, looking at Alexei with a sly, laughing little smile.
“I did?” Alexei erupted into restrained laughter. “I had not noticed it, myself, if I did. But I suppose it is not unlikely.” He tilted his head up to look at the ceiling.
Jack grinned at him. "I wouldn't have flirted the way I did if I had thought you would reject me." Or worse.
Alexei snorted, nodding his head, “That seems fair, I admit. I am an open sleeve, is that what they say?” The corner of his lips curled impishly. He didn’t even realized he’d combined the two idioms.
"Open book, or heart on your sleeve." Jack clarified with a laugh. "Not open sleeve." he smiled over at Alexei, stretching and arching his back.
