@ElderGod-Icefire
XD yup! Where are you going to publish the comic, may I ask? Because I'd love to read it!

Hopefully Webtoon! A friend told me about it like two years ago, and I've been playing with ideas ever since XD
I should warn you: My publishing process is generally to do the entire thing BEFORE publishing, and it's taken a year so far… It could take a bit XD
Ooh! Oh darn, okay. Well. I'd still love to read it someday
If you've read the Maximum Ride books, then you'll know what I'm talking about. Avian-human hybrids, specifically, they look like humans, but have wings, hollow bones, are faster and stronger, and have more than two lungs, for some reason. Also, they eat a lot of food because their metabolism is a lot faster.
Ohhh, I haven't read that series before!! I love that idea though!!
It's by James Patterson. (How many t's are in his name? 1 or 2?)
Honestly though…the Maximum Ride series was only good for the first three books. After that, it's shit. IMO, anyways. And he's making a reboot about Max's daughter, like wahhhaaatt??
… I have no idea about this, but okay!! XD
(And I'll check the series out- it sounds like a cool concept)
(Also BIRD PEOPLE. Bird people are awesome)

Wait, he's making a series about Phoenix?! WHAT hOw DiD i NoT kNoW tHiS?!
obscure mythological creatures are my jam!
I got books of em so I'll list a few, I kinda 'categorize' them so if there's a specific element, origin, or habitat you want let me know and I can drop some more!
Edit: I see you already said kelpies, but o well. Also on the topic of bird people, there are a few names or creatures that could be incorporated:

Yes he is. The first book is called Hawk.
(Cool!)

- Banshee: herald of death, sometimes she sings or screams, but her voice is only heard by those who are going to die. some myths say you can get rid of her by throwing salt.
- Kelpie: black horses that come from the swamps. If you ride one it drowns you, and in some stories it can shapshift to be a humanoid.
- Hamadryad/has another name but I can't think of it rn: tree fairy that's bound to one tree and dies if the tree is cut down (Fairy from the song "willow maid" by erutan, very pretty song).
- Kodama: tiny tree spirits that appear in healthy forests and protect them. They're also a big thing in Studio Ghibli movies.
- Naga: snake people, usually like mermaids but with snake features instead of fish and usually magical.
- Baku: resembles a tapir or an elephant, eats dreams and nightmares.
- Selkie: seal shapeshifters that shed their 'fur coats' to become humans. If their coat is stolen they are bound to them until their coat is given back.
- Jian: birds with one leg, eye, and wing. They can only fly if they find their partner (sappy romance creature)
- Oread: Mountain nymphs associated with Artemis
Edit: I see you already said kelpies, but o well. Also on the topic of bird people, there are a few names or creatures that could be incorporated:
- Alfs (fancy high elves, used in anime)
- nephelim (half-angels, usually half human)
- any mythological bird that could be 'humanized', maybe like a phoenix or feng huang bird?
YOU ARE AN ACTUAL DEITY, THANK YOU!!!!!
Glad to help lol, I'm a nerd for this kinda thing and love talking about them x)
Same!! And I've got to say, I haven't heard of a lot of those- that's pretty impressive (:
