"Sorry, sorry!" He said holding his hands up. "It was just a question!"
"Sorry, sorry!" He said holding his hands up. "It was just a question!"
She giggled " your fine" she said
Collins calmed down a bit and laughed too. "Sorry, you seemed really against it…" He flushed a soft pink.
Brad waved at a group of girls that had been following him as he walked in the door. He turned, and right in the middle of the room he saw Caroline and Collins. Talking. Laughing. Together and alone. Collins was flushing, and Brad knew he had a crush on Caroline. With a tight frown he turned around and left the cafeteria.
Caroline frown that she saw Brad leave "hey Collins I'll be right back okay?" But before he could answer she took off out of the cafeteria and ran up to Brad " Brad?" She asked
"O-oh ok… bye." He waved, sighing when she ran out.
Brad was already way down the hall, his backpack slung on one of his hunched shoulders and hung head. He heard the voice, but didn't recognize it besides a female voice. And right now, he didn't want to deal with his paparazzi of teenage girls. So he sped his pace a little, but not too much to notice.
" Brad?" She asked her voice cracking
Brad stopped at That oh so familiar voice. He lifted his head, and turned slightly.
She looked at him her arms at her sides her eyes soft
He sighed and crossed his arms, turning to face him. “Yeah? What is it?”
She walked over to him " what's wrong" she asked
“Nothing, I’m fine.” He replied softly, not moving. “Are you ok?”
" I saw you in the lunchroom… why'd you leave and don't lie" she said
“I just did. Simple as that.” He shrugged.
" I have enough lieing around me Brad but I guess your just like everyone else" she said starting to walk away
"Come on Caroline. You know I'm not perfect, I'm just tired, and it was loud, and I didn't want to deal with people." He said reaching out and taking her arm. "I just need some time alone. That's all."
" then take some" she said pulling her arm away harshly
"I would, but you seem rather annoyed at me. I'm getting tired of this Caroline, I feel like your looking for pity from me. Or at least attention." He snapped, realizing he had just made a rather stupid mistake.
She looked back at him, tears threatening to fall " I thought you were at least my friend but fine. . .just forget it don't talk to me don't send me notes and certainly don't touch me" she said.
"I was trying to be your friend, but the way you've reacted to me after our last talk in the hall… it's just, I feel like you're ignoring me, or you hate me." He said in a gentler tone. "But if you don't want to talk to me, fine."
" ignoring you? I just came after you because I thought something was wrong..no please let's talk about your problems because your so much more important that I couldn't even tell you my father was cheating on my own mother " she said
"My problems are not- what?" He asked surprised looking at her. "Hold on there, I asked you what was wrong, and you brushed me off. I tried to be there for you. You ignored my sympathy."
" because I don't like opening up people take my weak spots and use them against me…I'm.supposed to be strong I'm not supposed to need anyone for anything…but it's so hard" she said now officially sobbing looking at the floor
Brad took her, and held her close. "Hey, shhh it's OK." He whispered rocking her back and forth slowly. "I'm not expecting anything from you."
She cried into his shoulder, tears getting on his neck as looped her arms under his to gjrip hi shoulders from the back
He hugged her close, whispering sweet things to her. "You're an awesome person Caroline, but you're only one, you don't have to put so much pressure on yourself." He mumbled.
