SORRY FOR THE ESSAY IN ADVANCE.
CREATIVITY. Einstein said, "The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination." I think it's really important to know how to think, how to apply information, how to determine bias, how to research, etc. But I believe firmly that any ol' Joe Shmo can learn how to think, it just takes being taught (and a lot of people aren't taught these days). But IF they were just taught, I think what makes someone stand out is creativity. Not just having knowledge, but creating something new.
STRENGTH. This is a no-brainer… Live a life capable of doing all the awesome things you want to do, or sacrifice strength to fulfill a random beauty standard that changes all the time and is different all over the world and won't even last??
STRUGGLE. Learning how to live through trials in your life is the best way for you to grow as a person. If you don't want to grow, by all means, lay around and "enjoy" life.
TIME. It's extremely valuable because it waits for no one.
CREATION. I can see when destruction could be good, like getting rid of bad systems or just anything bad for that matter, but in the end, destruction leads to nothing and creation leads to everything.
REALITY. Books and shows made me feel less lonely, more fulfilled, just more entertained than my real life did. I lived my dreams through those stories… But then I stepped back and asked myself if I wanted to rely on books and such to have an "entertaining" life. No! I want to be out there doing all that stuff myself! DON'T LET YOUR DREAMS STAY DREAMS. MAKE 'EM REALITY.
LIFE. Something being alive is so much more than it being dead.
SCIENCE. I chose science even though I am a Christian. One, I LOVE SCIENCE. It's so interesting and cool, it was my favorite subject for a lot of my school years, I used to watch documentaries about science and history with my mom every day–I just have a lot of good memories attached to it. Two, "religion" is a system of belief that can be used to manipulate, excuse horrible acts, and halt advancement in the world. That's one of the reasons why I don't call myself "religious." The faith I have has nothing to do with rules, with earning your way to heaven, or with forcing anyone to do anything. It's about God's love, and responding to that love WITH love for God and for others. God is the one who came up with the rules of the world, the rules that science tries to discover.
So there you have it. :P
