Unpopular opinions:

  1. (most of) your unpopular opinions are actually pretty popular and you only think they're unpopular because you're a narcissist you just want to seem relatable or get a rise out of others
  2. All baby boomers should just stop working altogether. They're ruining the economy. Let them retire, and let there be more jobs for me for our generation
  3. Dogs aren't that great.

  4. Concerts suck.
  5. Roleplays are cringy and meaningless if you think about it enough (yes, i'm aware that i'm in over 15 roleplays)
  6. This one is actually very popular, but: lots of [younger] people (especially on this site, my god) claim to be depressed. Feeling sad isn't the same as depression. Don't self diagnose yourself.
  7. Speaking of self-diagnosing, anyone who does that just wants attention, and you know what? I hope that whatever they self-diagnosed themselves with, they actually get said disorder and suffer.
  8. Literally no one online cares about your feelings. And if they say they do, they're lying. Or trying to make you feel good about yourself so that they can manipulate you in the future.
  9. No one truly accepts humanity. And if you say that you do then there's a shiny sticker for you that says LIAR in aisle 5. Humanity includes criminals and furries. Imagine the worst person you know. The second you can accept that person is the second that you might be able to come close to accepting everyone. The word for what y'all are is tolerant.
  10. People be talking about diverse characters. If you really want to be so damn diverse make the main character have vitiligo. Make their best friend a hermaphrodite. Enough with the white main character and the side characters as pocs and trans and disabled and all that. It's annoying. And it isn't that hard to make your character different than what you're used to.
  11. Biphobia is real in the lgbtq+ community
  12. 97% of white people have racist tendencies whether they realize it or not.
  13. Respect is a two-way street. If someone is older than you and they're being disrespectful, you don't have to be polite to them.

Anyway.

@ElderGod-Icefire

So @Lori_the_King I agree with a lot of what you said but like…are you okay? If you need to talk about anything my PMs are always open if you need to talk about something/rant/cry/whatever. i mean you probably aren't gonna because of number eight but… that's your choice

@Periwinkle_

Unpopular opinion: Lori most ouf your opinions suck. You should learn that there are a whole lotta things that aren’t black and white like you think they are. Namely that everyone that self diagnoses themselves are lying for attention and that everyone on the internet doesn’t care. (Those are the two that stuck out the most to me but there are others as well)

Unpopular opinion: most youth have not experienced a real anxiety attack and/or a mental breakdown, nor will they. And the fact that they are always going "omg I had two anxiety attacks today." is vaguely annoying.

and yes I do mean the youth on this site.

So what qualifies? I mean, does the crying from stress from school pressure count?
Daaaaaang I was always going to do something like this!!!

No it doesn't. That's being stressed out.

Panic attacks are debilitating. Meaning that a person cannot function for a period of time. Like a seizure without the unconscious part. (Most panic attacks will knock out a person afterward though, just because of exhaustion.) It's not: "I started crying and shaking and I was scared. Boo hoo. Pay attention to me." If you are experiencing a real panic attack, authorities need to be called and you need to get to a hospital. That's how serious it is.

Mental breakdowns are even worse. Like panic attacks on crack and the person actually loses sense of reality and needs to be hospitalized with 24 hour care. It's not casual or cute at all.

One, I'm pretty sure that wasn't an unpopular opinion. I'm sure most people agree with you because I attacked their kind. And I never said you had to agree with me, they're my opinions. And frankly I don't care if you do or not.
I'm well aware that the world isn't in black and white. There are some people who self-diagnose themselves because it's painfully obvious. I'm talking about the specific young groups that romanticize mental disorders and announce to the world that they have depression the second they start feeling sad.
And yes, I'm aware that there exceptions, such as long distance relationships and all that. But I'm saying the likelihood of someone actually caring about you, your opinions, your feelings, and all that are slim to none. Especially if you've never met them before.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Opinion (idk if it's unpopular or not, i just wanna share it XD):
Men rape women because they know they can get away with it. What I mean? You know how many men in 1000 who are accused of rape are actually innocent? Two. 2 in 1000 men are innocent. That means that 998 of them are guilty. How many rapists actually see significant jail time for what they've done? I don't know the exact number, but it ain't a lot. So men see that they can get away with it, because if a woman comes out and says "he raped me", the response is always this: "how dare you ruin this young man's future" "how dare you try to smear his reputation" "you're just looking for attention" "you're just trying to get famous" and other stuff like this. Even if it is obvious and known that the rape happened what the woman was wearing is used as "evidence" that she somehow wanted it. You were wearing a thong? Well, you were just asking for it. Like WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE!!!
Ack sorry this turned into a rant not an opinion oops. Sorry.

Yk that's totally ok if you don't care whether people agree with you or not, actually it's preferred (in this chat, maybe not life as a whole), which is why I said what I said. Also, the unpopular opinion part was sarcasm (I probably didn't even need to address that bc you probably knew but whatever). But basically my point is that you can't just make sweeping statements about stuff like that. Most stuff is not that simple. Besides that, your view of some of this stuff is kinda negative (unnecessarily so). It's pretty dangerous to make negative sweeping statements; you could end up hurting someone in the process.

But basically my point is that you can't just make sweeping statements about stuff like that.

Valid. But this is literally the only time I've done this. Because it's on the unpopular opinions forum. They are my opinions, not statements of truth. And if people are actually deeply hurt by something that I said, they need to get a life. What I say is not that important because I do exaggerate things and I don't really have an open mind (as bad as that sounds, it's true) so it's not like people can change my opinion anyway. (Got sidetracked there.) My point is: people shouldn't take what I say seriously in the first place. Hell, I know some of the things I said earlier aren't true. I just exaggerated them, mainly because I was pissed off.

Most stuff is not that simple.

Oh, I'm well aware.

Besides that, your view of some of this stuff is kinda negative (unnecessarily so).

That's fair. I'm a negative and pessimistic person and I'm well aware of it :)

It's pretty dangerous to make negative sweeping statements; you could end up hurting someone in the process.

I'm sure. And if anyone does get hurt, I'm sorry for hurting your feelings. But I honestly don't care because I still don't know any of you. Except for literally two people [on this site].

This is gonna make me public enemy number one, I can just feel it

With the disclaimer, (In my opinion, not that it matters lol) that makes a whole lot more sense. It's just that, as you've probably noticed, there are a whole lot of broken, sensitive people on here, some of which would take your words as the truth. But it's good we got that cleared up lol and sorry if I came off as too negative, sometimes I can be like that too.

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

And this is where I disagree.
I can guarantee, with full certainty, and not a single doubt in my mind, that there are multiple people on this site who truly do care about you.
That's because humans are weird, and will get attached to things really easily, even if they've never seen them before. Why do you think people cry in the movie theaters when the dog dies if they know it's not real and have never seen the dog in person?

Honestly, I feel closer to some of the users on this site than I do towards many of my (very few) IRL friends, and that's saying a lot…

…I don't know how to tie these properly into this but here are some articles

Online friends are real friends who you can easily get attached to, even without seeing them in real life, you can still have meaningful conversations, laugh together, and support each other during hard times, as a good friend would. Just because you have to hug in asterisks doesn't mean you don't truly care about each other.

Unpopular opinions:

  1. (most of) your unpopular opinions are actually pretty popular and you only think they're unpopular because you're a narcissist you just want to seem relatable or get a rise out of others
    Quite possibly!
  2. All baby boomers should just stop working altogether. They're ruining the economy. Let them retire, and let there be more jobs for me for our generation
    On the one hand, they kind of have to I think. Social Security (which I think is stupid btw) will fail soon leaving these poor folks broke on the streets. But yeah. It sucks for us. But what is even more to blame is minimum wage.
  3. Dogs aren't that great.

    Agreed!

  4. Concerts suck.
    Idk… has never been but I totally can think of reasons to support your statement.
  5. Roleplays are cringy and meaningless if you think about it enough (yes, i'm aware that i'm in over 15 roleplays)
    I disagree. It’s low stakes writing practice.
  6. This one is actually very popular, but: lots of [younger] people (especially on this site, my god) claim to be depressed. Feeling sad isn't the same as depression. Don't self diagnose yourself.
    Hmm… I see arguments from both sides.
  7. Speaking of self-diagnosing, anyone who does that just wants attention, and you know what? I hope that whatever they self-diagnosed themselves with, they actually get said disorder and suffer.
    Well I don’t… But have your opinion. It’s not like I am more entitled to mine or to have others care.
  8. Literally no one online cares about your feelings. And if they say they do, they're lying. Or trying to make you feel good about yourself so that they can manipulate you in the future.
    Nah.
    Points for putting criminals and furries in the same place Lol.
    I mean, legit.
  11. Biphobia is real in the lgbtq+ community
    Yup.
  12. 97% of white people have racist tendencies whether they realize it or not.
    Kind of depends on who you define as white. No one is a purebred anymore and race is obsolete.
  13. Respect is a two-way street. If someone is older than you and they're being disrespectful, you don't have to be polite to them.
    Except, of course, if they hold power over you. But you already know that.
