Realistically, in such a realm there would have been people dying in a war. From both sides. That's just facts and logic. In PJO, numerous had died, and in HoO it was a problem if they had gotten a scratch.
But if that was the only problem, I'd shrug it off. There were many others.

@Relsey

I think the biggest problem with the second series was it was rushed, not the actual plot but the publishing, the first series had around 20 chapters with a year in between each one, the second series has chapter counts averring in the 60's with the same amount of time in between releases. Rick Riordan was also writing the Kane Chronicles at the same time so the TLC just wasn't there .

Out of all the characters in PJO, we lose Bianca, Zoë, Castor, Lee, Pan, Charlie, Silena, Michael, Luke, and Ethan. And Annabeth is nearly killed. In HoO, a series with waaay more characters, we have the seven, Nico, Will, Hedge, Mellie, Thalia, Reyna, Calypso, and countless extras. Out of everyone, the only deaths are Octavian, Phoebe, Bob, and seemingly Leo, but we all know Leo is alive. None of the seven even get badly injured.

@ravens

Can we all just remember that this is a website to help writers. We don't discard others' work as trash. I know Rick Riordan (most likely) doesn't use this website, but still. You're setting a bad example for others.

We get it. Y'all don't think Rick Riordan's books are worth reading. But keep in mind that there are other people on this site that read his books and loved them. For some, his books are the reason they enjoy reading at all. So you would be doing us all a big favor by not focusing on the plot holes/bad qualities/character undevelopment and instead focusing on the good parts. The characters you loved and were happy to see again in other books. The dam inside jokes. The ships, for crying out loud.

We all have our own opinions. So please just find yourself another fandom that you know you'll love and obsess over that instead of wasting your time hating on the Riordanverse.

You are my friend, so I mean no disrespect when I say that you should leave this chat. This is for people who have criticism about Riordan’s work, which is by no means perfect, since no one’s work is. If you dislike what we are discussing, I recommend you find another discussion. Also, nobody here is trashing Rick’s work. We are pointing out things that he could have done better. I don’t even think anyone has said they hate Rick’s work, just that they wish he had done some things differently.

I put K2 in Hufflepuff because he was loyal to Cassian and the rebellion even when it meant sacrificing himself. His death is still the closest I’ve come to crying in a movie. That and Leia’s space scene in TLJ when it focused on on her face and you could hear her theme playing softly and she looked so at peace.

@HighPockets group

I would say she’s definitely a hatstall, probably between Slytherin and Ravenclaw? I feel like Leia would choose Slytherin to make a point, and she’d be all “not all Slytherins are evil!”
Han and Luke are Hufflepuffs.

(It’s kinda funny that people are starting chats to ‘fight’ us for having a legit criticism. It’s like when someone made the ‘greatest showman is overrated’ thread and people flipped out, even though it explicitly said the thread was for people who disliked the movie. If I saw a thread saying that someone disliked Star Wars, I’d ignore it and move on.)

Poe: Gryffindor. His main traits are his charisma and his courage.
Rose: either Ravenclaw (she’s extremely bright and wants to be an inventor) or Hufflepuff (the save what you love vs kill what you hate quote), but I’d lean towards Ravenclaw.
Finn: he’s very brave, but his loyalty and devotion to his friends no matter the cost for himself (saving Poe from the FO, coming back for Rey)
Rey: slytherin. I’m a bit biased towards both Rey and my house, but Rey wants nothing more than to be connected to someone in the galaxy and she survived for thirteen years on Jakku using ambition and intuition.

@HighPockets group

Yeah I guess I forgot to put Finn’s house but it’s def Hufflepuff.
Kylo, Hux, and Phasma are Slytherins. The FO is literally all about ambition.
