It's about a girl who comes home from school one day to find that her parents are dead, and it's about how she copes and the family that takes her in and so on. It's amazingly written.

My fave is The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, written by Michelle Paver.
I've read it a thousand times.
It's about a boy, who's father dies a brutal death, and his adventure in the forest from there on.
It's set a few thousand years ago, I think, and it's really good, especially if you love animals and nature.

Wow. I have too many faves to count but I'll name a few.
Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus/Trials of Apollo - Rick Riodarn
Harry Potter - J.K.Rowling
Divergent Series - Veronica Roth
Lunar Chronicles - Marissa Meyer
Renegades - Marissa Meyer
Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paolini
Raven Cycle - Maggie Stiefvater
Under the Never Sky series - Veronica Rossi
Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
Starbound Trilogy - Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Firebird Trilogy - Claudia Gray
Red Queen Series - Victoria Aveyard

Plus many, many others, but those are the main ones. PJ/HoO and HP are like, my childhood favs tho.

I don't read much these days simply because I have too many responsibilities. However the last book which I really enjoyed was Waylander by David Gemmel. Absolutely loved it. Would recommend it.
