Basically yeah, my antagonist is someone who my main character ters have known for a long time, he trained them to be the best assassins. But then they find out he planned to have them killed (still figuring out a reason for this though) and so they turn on him. There is a major twist where he ends up being related to a main character and yeah
How would one make him "evil"? He isnt the type of person to kick cats (I apologize) but he is the type of person to do a 180⁰ turn. [See a couple pages ago]

I agree with Jyn. Villainy is too much of a broad area to simply say "they do it for fun" or "because they want revenge".
A lot of people fall into villainy because of being mislead by someone they trusted, or being influenced by those around them into believing that it is what they should do.
He could be mislead by an instructor at the school, or simply get caught up in the thrill of the kill (several serial killers call killing the ultimate power trip, maybe he's always been the odd one out at school and turns to killing as a way to get that high)
