I read a series that was first written back in the 1990s a few months ago called The Queen's Thief series. Honestly it's one of the best writing I've ever seen in the YA genre. The first book is pretty good, but the next two are amazing. I can't seem to find anyone in person or online who has read them!

Harry Potter. I really like Snape, he should run drama classes.

@ravens

Harry Potter, anything written by Marissa Meyer, Veronica Roth, or Rick Riordan, The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place is a good series

All time favorite is the Inheritance cycle (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance) by Christopher Paolini. He does an absolutely fantastic job of not just building the world from the perspective of the character, but also drawing the reader in and establishing a natural connection to the world of Alagaesia. He also has a wide cast of very beloved characters who will often feel more like genuine people than the actual human beings we interact with on a day to day basis. With a fairly common plot, the real driving force for the series is the cast.
While reading you will often find yourself less concerned with where the plot is going compared to what the characters are doing or experience at any given moment. Pair the strong cast with a strong set of rules for the world and characters to obey, fascinating and entertaining conflicts, and Christopher's reader friendly diction, structure, and pacing, and you have yourself what I consider to be a masterpiece for any age and gender that most will struggle to put down.
I recommend this series to anyone with a passion for fantasy and fiction, as well as those who have had an interest in the fantasy genre, but has little to no understanding or experience with it. My only complaints for the series is that they have concluded and the author is working on a sci-fi story now, as well as the fact that the series was given a movie adaptation which for all intents and purposes may as well be called something completely different, as it completely failed to capture the heart of the cast and story, and mutilated major assets of the world such as races, magic systems, and even the central character's themselves.

I’ll have to try some of these books. I’d also recommend the book I Hunt Killers. It’s like a horror/mystery book about a boy who’s dad is a serial killer.

I absolutely love The Maze Runner series. I just finished book one and next time I go to a used bookstore I'm buying the rest.
I also really like Pjo and Hoo, they're cool. But THE KANE CHRONICLES are so underrated!
I tried Divergent, nice concept, I'm not really big on it but the drop hasn't started yet so I'll give it grace.
I read half of Eragon. It's a good book, I'm just not big on fantasy. I'll have to get back to that.
Warriors are awesome. I took inspiration from the prologues and epilogues. (That I didn't read as a kid.) The plot's kind of dragging on right now, but "The Prophecies begin" is awesome.
I loved the Gone series by Micheal Grant or well, book one. I still can't find the rest of the series. T-T
Icefall by Matthew J. Kirby is a good historical, Viking-like age mystery thing. (I don't know how to describe it, I haven't read it in a long time.) I really liked it. Kind of rare though, I happened to stumble upon it in a used bookstore. (Like every other book I own.)

The Hunger Games. (Typical)

Well, now to books my Mom forced me to read.

How to kill a Mockingbird. I liked it, it's interesting.
The Outsiders. All I can say is a culture shocker. Once the drop happens, BOOM it's amazing! Fourth wall breaking ending, and amazing characters. It even has a movie. (I hope that's a good sign…)
The Light in the Forest. Good book. My Mom made me watch the movie too, kinda ruined the plot and the characters for me. (Gordie! T-T) Book itself is great.
Rush Limbaugh's Rush Revere books. My Mom forces a lot of History onto me. If you like talking, time-traveling horses teaching you history class, go for it! (I read these books when I was in 5th grade.)
White Fang. JUST AMAZING. Once the drop hits you like a brick, boom! You're stuck between this wolf's jaws.
I'm working on The Hiding Place, ehh, it's okay. Kind of boring. (Only interesting thing was the protage falling in love then the boy left her.) The drop hasn't hit it yet though.
And my Mom just handed me The Indian in the Cupboard to read. I looked through it and it's like second-grade material. * sigh * Wish me luck.

I can recommend Skulduggery Pleasant, though not to the innocent, squeamish, or the faint of heart. It's pretty heavy stuff, nicely packaged in sass, sarcasm, and excellent characterisation. But it's also a 9-book commitment, and it gets darker as it goes on. Like, horrifying levels of darkness.
Other than that, The Book Thief because brilliance, the Infernal Devices beacuse the writing style is gorgeous, Sherlock Holmes the original because 19th Century sass, and Harry Potter because Harry Potter.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Something-or-other (Ness, maybe?) is also superb. The only book to win distinguished prizes in both writing and illustration.
And of course, the obscure gem that is actually… probably my favorite book in the existence of ever called "Tell the Wolves I'm Home". Unfortunately no one knows about it. Absolutely no fandom, like not even a shoelace.
I can't even put into words how amazingly brilliant this book is. If you read only one thing for the rest of your life let it be this.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

I saw Warriors and the Inheritance Cycle! I LOVE those books! And the Eragon movie sucked, btw.

I really like The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. Also, The Chronicles of Narnia are some of my favorites!

Lillie

My very favorite book series is The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. There is also a book called Dash and Lily's Book of Dares and it is amazing.

THE KANE CHRONICLES THING IS SO TRUE

@Masterkey

Bianca, I read the rest of the Maze Runner series (besides the prequel) a few years ago, and lemme just say I was disappointed… you might like it though. When you finish it, I'd like to hear your opinion. :D

Uh, you may not be aware but, the whole speech was quoted from me. Bianca was just saving how the Kane Chronicles were underrated. So thanks for the heads up. :)
