Sam was in her hut trying to clean off the mud from her shoes. She didn't like how the robots were malfunctioning bit by bit, she had scavenged her boots at the last minute, unable to get her own size. As she walked, you could hear the thump from the steps and how it looked like a flip-flop with the way she was walking. The only good things she had left was her cobalt leather jacket and her weapon. Both seemed as if the were in new condition even if they were almost as old as her. She just kept them in good conditions because they were both important to her.
When she finally got to the counter, there were only the worst parts of meat and two loaves of bread left. She took the cow tongue and half of a flat, flavorless loaf of bread. After getting her food, she rushed quickly back to her shack before anybody tried to steal it.
Sam saw Harper come back into their dwelling with her rations. Her stomach twisted a bit at the sight of the cows tongue. She stopped eating the rations a while ago. It was bad for her body and barely gave nutrients. The food had no flavor or seasoning and it was the same thing all the time. She decided to go out and eat 'nature's food'. It didn't taste much better but at least it improved her health.
Ellen received her rations and quickly rushed back to her hut.
Aspen sat in the corner and played with a stick
The five four-year-olds Harper was assigned to take care of began to wake up and whine, and she quickly got them a small cup of milk each. Then she gave them all a piece of bread and they ate breakfast.
Sam went out the hut and into the forest. She was getting quite bored with just sitting there so she got her satchel, weapon and jacket. Once she was there, no one and nothing was in sight. She climbed up a tall tree and sat on the branches while overlooking the camp.
She brought the children over to the only place for children for miles, a rusty old playground that looked like it was going to crumble at any second. She sat on the swing and watched the kids play. In the distance, she saw one of the old service robots freak out, sparks flying everywhere. Finally, it caught on fire and stopped. Harper was tired of all these robots that were supposed to help them break down, without anyone coming to help. She doubted those in the other countries fighting didn't even notice that this was happening.
While at the rusty old playground, a truck full of wounded American, German, and British soldiers who came from Europe were dropped off at the nearest medical camp to receive treatment. She went to see what carnage the war had done and one of the British soldiers asked her to come over. "Help me please" he said in a soft but raspy voice extending his right arm as it trembles from the horror of war. She can do nothing but leave him to his inevitable fate. A German officer walks over to her and asks what business she has doing at the medical camp.
(Wait you are referring to Harper right?) "Medical camp? This is refuge camp M-410. The medical camp is a few miles south."

Bains was hiding in some old playground equipment and he noticed Harper, so he stood and walked over to her. "Have you every tried fixing the robots?" He questioned.
( Please notice his name his BAINS not BRAINS )
She looked at him. "No, at least I haven't. It's really advanced technology." She had to pause to run over to one of the kids and take a piece of rusty metal he was trying to play with.
Bains nodded and bit his lip. He wanted to start a conversation with this girl, but he didn't know how. He awkwardly stuck out his hand when she returned, and mumbled his name as a poor introduction.
"Harper. It's, um..nice to meet you." She hated introductions, or talking to new people in general. As she shook with her right hand, her left was squeezing the strap of her backpack.
Bains nodded tugged at his jacket, unable to take a hint that Harper wanted him to leave. Even though this situation was awkward, he was still very grateful to have somebody to interact with. In the world that he lived in, he was usually on his own, longing for a time where he could be like any other kid and do normal kid things. "Do you need any help with these kids?" he asked nervously.
She smiled. "I can handle it, but thanks." Harper didn't have the guts to tell him that she did need help, that taking care of a bunch of kids was not for her, that she was not cut out to be a mother of 5 at 12 years old. Secretly, anxiety overwhelmed her.
Bains nodded. There was nothing else to say, and he decided he should probably just leave. "I'll um… I'll just go then." he mumbled. But just as he began to walk away, there was an explosion in the distance. And not the usual robot pop. No, this was a bomb like explosion. Probably because It was a bomb. "Get the kids!" he yelled. ( is this okay? I didn't really know what else could happen. )
Harper let out a little scream then collected herself. She grabbed 2 kids hands and put one on her back as he grabbed the two others and ran. There were bomb shelters scattered everywhere, so they ran into the nearest one and shut the doors. Once they did, they panted out heavy breaths and sat down. One of the children started to cough.
"Hey hey, its okay kids." Bains reassured as they began to cry. He tried comforting them, and he gave the smallest girl his jacket. "Fast thinking, impressive." he breathed.
Sam was near the explosion when it happened. Looking over a few trees and leaves she saw some metal flying off into the distance but it wasn't robot metal. There was a cloud of smoke billowing above it, collecting the gas from the unexpected burst and getting larger by the second. She leaped from tree to tree and saw people-actual people that weren't wounded or elderly-throwing bombs into the distance. Another loud boom and wood and bricks were flown off into the distance.
(I hope this is okay.)
"I'll be right back." Bains said to Harper, then he quickly leapt from the shelter. He used a bandana to cover his mouth, and his eyes were heavily squinted. In the distance he saw a girl, and he quickly yelled out for her to come to him. "Come on!" he cried. "Get out of the open!"
"No, I got it. I'm going to try and figure out why they are doing this!" She yelled back. "If you want to come with me, then you can. Otherwise, I'm not coming." She ran behind a broken down building and looked to the side to see a clipboard and two men surrounding it.
