Felix headed back into the building, filled with disgust. Going back into this horrible house was the very least thing he wanted to do right now, but he couldn’t have a potentiall psycho running around, not since the boy had seen them all and probably heard them tell each other about their powers as well. He started running in the direction which he had seen the boy take of in.
"Hey, back there!" Elizia snapped, "Sit up."
Mar let out a whimper, slowly lowering her legs to the ground. Now, she was is a sitting position.
Elizia spoke softer now, quieter. Like her usual self. "Are you doing okay? What's your name?" She angled the rearview to get a full view of her back seat.
"I-I'm Mar…" Mar had tear streaks on her cheeks.
"And I won't be fine until I'm far away from here…"
"Don't cry, hon," Elizia said, the edge in her voice softened, "We're on our way out. You'll be fine."
Wow, Brella rubbed off on me more than I thought.
Elizia turned her rear view back on the road and kept up the drive. Without much in the way of topics of conversation, the most she could offer was poorly timed emotional support. She only hoped the girl wasn't still expecting to be shot right off the bat.
"I'm Eliziethara. You can call me Elizia. Do you live in Augustton?"
"I-I don't know. My parent's-" Mar couldn't continue; her throat had closed up and she couldn't speak. Instead, she cried silently.
"Hey!" She hit the roof of the car, "You ain't getting anywhere by crying. Deal with your pain." Again, her voice lowered, "You have to fight through stuff like this. Keep focus."
"I-I'm sorry!" Mar quickly wiped away her tears. She knew she was too soft.
"It's alright. Take a nap. We won't be anywhere for a while. I'll let you know when we are."
Wonderful, Elizia. Couldn't stand losing your big sis, so you found a little sister to take care of.
Elizia tried to put the thought aside. The road stretched out before them, the stars lit the way. They were alone.
"So what's your trick, Azalene?" Elizia asked softly, desperate to break the silence, "Besides cutting people's eyes out, I mean?"
"Trick?" Aza said, genuinely confused. "Like my gen-mod?"
"No, your circus trick," Elizia said with a smirk, "Yes, I mean your gen-mod. I don't know if ya'll were sharing with each other at some point, but I was busy fetchin' a ride."
"Oh." Aza held her hands out in front of her and focused. A sphere of fire sparked to life in her right hand and a globe of ice formed in her left.
Jae walked through the halls, focusing on getting out. The longer he stayed inside he more sick to his stomach the longer he stayed inside.
Felix started running, chasing after the boy. I wanted to know who he was, and what he was doing here.
"Nifty," responded Elizia, "Fire and freeze. I like it. Did Mar ever say what hers was?"
"I… I have telepathy," Mar said in a small voice.
"You what, now? Speak up, darlin'. Tele- what?"
"T-Telepathy," Mar spoke louder, afraid she would get yelled at again.
Jae stopped when he heard footsteps coming his direction and looked over his shoulder. Jae ran into the nearest room and desperately searched for something to block the door with.
What!?
Elizia almost slammed the brakes, but managed to stop herself and let the Car keep going. A cop passed her. Motorcycles flew down the other side of the road.
How much did she hear? What does she know?
"Telepathy? That's mind reading," Elizia said dumbly, "What all have you been hearing from me?"
Felix reached the door just as the other boy locked himself in. He tried to open it, but it was useless. Either the boy was really strong or he had somehow locked it. Either way, Felix couldn’t get in. He grabbed his knife to be prepared, and then leaned closely to the door. ”What are you?” Felix said to the boy on the other side in a strong but low voice. His heart was pounding from running.
"I should be asking you the same question." Jae called back, he had managed to lock the door from the inside and searched around the room for some sort of weapon.
Felix hesitated a bit before answering. ”Experiment. A failed one, though.” He quietly started picking the lock with tools from the armyknife, hoped that the other boy wouldn’t hear it. He wasn’t planning on attacking him, he just wanted to stand face to face with him. That way he could easier detect any possible lies.
