“Mm, sort of.” Miyaki linked her fingers through his, tugging him towards the doors to the stairs. “She lives in the village. Runs a little restaurant there. She spends a lot of time reading about other culture’s food and tries to recreate it. Like I said, if anyone knows, it’s Levia.”
"Ah. Alright." Jin replied. "Take me there, then, and we'll give her food a try." he let her lead him through the doors and down the stairs. He was quiet for a long moment.
Once they were down at the bottom of the stairwell, Miyaki pulled him to a stop, turning to look up at him. Her cheeks were slightly red. “Can I get a kiss? An uninterrupted one this time? Please?”
Jin smiled, and leaned down to kiss her. He cupped her chin with one hand, pulling her close. His mouth moved lightly against hers. After a minute, he pulled away.
Miyaki’s other hand came up to rest against his chest, holding onto the fabric of his shirt as she kissed him. A small sigh left her as he pulled away, almost disappointed he’d done so so quickly. “Mmm. We should…do that more often. If you’re alright with that.”
Jin smirked. "Tell you what. For every bite of food you eat, I'll give you one kiss." He replied. "If you eat a whole meal, I'll give you even more than a kiss."
“O-oh.” The blush on Miyaki’s cheeks deepened at that, though she definitely didn’t look opposed. “What-what exactly does ‘more’ consist of? And what’s your idea of a full meal?”
"A full meal is everything on your plate without exception. And more…that depends on what you want." Jin's mouth twitched in a faint, smirking smile.
((hjdjhsj i have drama planned for later lmao))
"I guess we'll see then. I don't lose." You didn't beg, either, before he showed up. But that much food…what is Illial going to say? Miyaki didn't give him a chance to respond, standing on her toes and tugging him down to meet her lips, stealing a quick and passionate kiss before releasing him, tongue brushing his lips as she pulled away. Taking a step back, she turned on her heel, grinning impishly. "Let's go, then. We'll be out after dark anyway, but the guards don't take kindly to me showing up late."
(lmao alright)
Jin smiled into the kiss, relishing the feeling of her tongue on his lips. "I'll be with you, though. So if they have a problem, they can take it up with me." He said as he followed her, a smile creeping over his face.
"They always have a problem with me. I've been in holding so many times Alina has threatened to fire the whole guard." Miyaki shook her head, leading the way down the hallway. She'd forgotten her jacket, her tank top leaving the hickeys and marks visible along her neck in full view. "What's Night Fae food like?"
"Home." Jin replied immediately. He sighed softly. "I don't know how to explain. It's better than the light, fluffy stuff you eat here."
"Hm. I read somewhere that the Spring Court and the Night Court have similar foods and spices, but that's about all I know." Miyaki mused, pressing slightly against his shoulder as they walked. "Our food has…never sat quite right with me. It's never filling enough. Which I guess is fine, if you're trying to lose weight. What's your favorite dish, of your food?"
Jin nodded. "We do, although our food is most similar to the Winter Court, since the Night is longest in Winter. My favorite dish is probably…" He trailed off for a moment, and then described a dish to her.
Miyaki watched him as she listened, nodding occasionally. They exited the palace and neared the gates, and she spoke a little before they did. "It sounds divine." She said, her stomach rumbling lightly at the thought of food, causing her cheeks to darken. For someone who 'wasn't hungry', it didn't exactly sound like it.
Jin smiled. "Oh it is." At the stomach rumble, he laughed. "Wow, for someone who isn't hungry, your stomach sure is loud." He teased.
"Uneasy. Not hungry. It's just uneasy." Miyaki lied, shifting her gaze away from his as she wrapped her arms around her gut as though that would quiet it.
"Mm, if you say so." Jin replied, raising an eyebrow a little. But he didn't pressure her about it.
There was no hassle at the gates, and then they were outside the palace walls, headed down the road that led to the village just a short walk away. The village that Miyaki had always felt just a little more welcomed in than in the palace. Because the people in the village were more accepting, and more willing to turn on their own people, when those people decided Miyaki was a great source of horrid entertainment.
"It's just a walk down that way. It'll be more quiet than it is during the morning market, and the street lights should be on. They're so pretty when the sun is setting."
Jin nodded a little. "Alright." he replied. He preferred sunset over sunrise, because it meant the stars were coming out. It would mean that his Night was coming. He had always been able to relax better under the stars.
Miyaki hummed as they walked, nodding her head side to side and getting lost in her own thoughts as she did. The light from the setting sun set her skin aglow, the markings on her face contrasting that. She looked relaxed and unguarded, like she did in the inventor's tower, or like she had that night under the moonlight during the actual lesson part of the lesson. She didn't look uncomfortable in her own skin.
Jin watched her for a long moment, eyes flickering over her, then he looked away again. He sighed. "So, how much farther?" he asked.
"Hm? Oh, we're almost there. We can see the village from here." Miyaki said, opening her eyes and pointing. In the near distance, the road dipped down over the crest of the hill. They reached the hill a minute later, and Miyaki pulled Jin to a stop, gesturing out over the village visible from up on the hill. "See? Look at all the street lights! And over there is where they hold they market, and festivals like the Solstice Festival."
Jin smiled a little. "Oh, that's cool." he replied, eyes studying the village for a long moment. He glanced over at Miyaki, a faint smile flashing over his face, then he turned back to the village. "And you're sure they will be alright with the High Lord of the Night Court walking into their town?"
Miyaki studies him for a second, head tilted and eyes narrowed. “Don’t lie to them. But…maybe take off a couple un necessary articles of clothing. And…here.” She reached up, standing on her toes, to muss up his hair a little bit, fingers brushing his cheeks as she lowered again. “Smile, too. If you can. A smile is the best form of greeting.”
