@ElderGod-Icefire

The guard sighed. "Throne room." He replied. "It's policy. You can't be allowed on palace grounds without meeting the king beforehand." He explained.

Evander kept his gaze straight ahead, ignoring the chatter around him. He had learned a long time ago to ignore it, or he lost it really quick. Lost his handle on his sanity, on his mind, and snapped.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(ooh what if Evander recognized her?? Idk what your plan for her family and stuff was, but like i was thinking what if they all looked very similar to the way she does, or maybe she lived in the palace when she was little but doesn't remember but he recognizes her? Idk just an idea that flashed in my head)

The guard hesitated. "It…depends on a lot of factors." He replied slowly. "The king can be…" He shrugged. "It should be fine, though." He opened the doors and led her inside.

Evander listened to a message that had been relayed to him, and made a reply. So much to do still. So much to do. And I don't think I can do it.

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

(That was sort of what I was going for XD)

Adrestia nodded. "Hopefully everything goes smoothly." She said. Looking around at the castle details she notice the sun was close to setting. She sighed 'well. I don't think I'm going to be able to sell anything today in the castle.'

@ElderGod-Icefire

(oh okay lol)

The guard brought her through the palace and into the throne room where Evander was sitting. The guard told a little bit about what she had said to him, then turned and looked at her. "You need to introduce yourself and tell him who you are and all that."

Evander was silent, eyes a stormy grey as he watched them.

She nodded, keeping her hood over her eyes. "My name is Adrestia Acyn, I am here to sell handmade goods and materials to the castle people." She said, not including the fact that she was also here to learn about her family.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Evander watched her for a long moment. "Take off the hood." He finally said. His voice was emotionless, cold. Distant. His eyes stared straight at her without actually seeming to see her. As if he were looking through her rather than at her. Many rumors circulated about the young king. That he was insane. That he was a recluse. That he was a ruthless monster.

Adrestia panicked. She didnt like people seeing her face because of the scar, usually she didnt get any business that way. She knew she could not say no to the king so her hand, shaking, removed her hood. Green eyes stared at the king with panic whole black braids framed them.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Evander cocked his head slightly, standing and walking over to her. Could it be…? He frowned slightly, examining her carefully. His grey eyes were cold, still distant even as he studied her.

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

(she is a fairly new character so you can think of her however, I need a backstory for her lmao)

She took a step back and but her lip, still nervous about showing her face and cleared her throat. "Wha–what may I ask are you looking for?" She asked, still fairly scared but annoyed at the fact that this man wasnt saying anything and just look g at her face

@ElderGod-Icefire

(alright)

Evander frowned, stepping away. "I thought I…" He winced, pressing a hand to his forehead for a moment. He shook his head quickly. Not now-! He took a deep breath. "I thought I recognized you." He said slowly. Please not now. Please. I can't lose control now. Not in the daytime like this.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"You look like a family that once lived here. Before the war. Unlike some of the other nobility, they never returned and it was assumed they had all been killed." Evander replied evenly. "They had a daughter that would be around your age. But I am most likely mistaken."

@ElderGod-Icefire

"I said I was probably mistaken!" Evander retorted. "There is no need to be annoyed with me." He kept a tight rein on himself. Don't let out the monster. Don't lose yourself. He told himself. "I was only saying that you reminded me of them."

@ElderGod-Icefire

(any ideas for answers?)

Evander crossed his arms, eyes flashing red for a moment. "I don't remember right now." He said calmly. "So please stop." He went back to the throne, blinking hard while his back was turned to try and control his eyes again.

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

(Hmmmm…. how about they were people who knew Evander personally? The rest of the questions she can figure out by looking in history books)

Adrestia frowned and bowed her head "of course you majesty." She said, shortly and turned around, heading to the door, towards her horse.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(okay)

Evander frowned. "I didn't say you could leave, Miss Acyn." He said coolly. "And I do remember some things. My early memory is…not very clear." He relaxed his face. "But I will do my best to answer your questions."

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

"You may not have dismissed me sir, but I have places to be and things to sell. I thank you for your help and bid you good day." She said and continued walking towards the door. The door was open just a crack and Mali ran inside, jumping off the ground and landing on her shoulder. "Good boy." She said, rubbing his head

@ElderGod-Icefire

The guard frowned. "Miss, you can't just leave like that." He said, standing between her and the door. "And you especially cannot just…dismiss the king like that." His eyes narrowed slightly.

Evander frowned, eyes tightening as they flickered between red and grey again. "Miss Acyn. I don't believe you know how this works." He said in a low, soft voice.

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

Adrestia groaned slowly and turned around, not moving from her spot as she stared at the king from the end of the hall not saying anything, just looking while Mali was lowly growling. "Hush" she said, hitting his head with a finger.

@ElderGod-Icefire

The king looked down at her with eyes that flashed between red and grey, though he was too far away for her to be able to see that. "Miss Acyn. Please repeat your questions, and I will answer them to the best of my ability." He looked at her carefully.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"My parents were good friends with them. Layce and Donovan. No. I don't remember. I don't remember." He replied calmly, answering each question in order. He wasn't sure why he remembered their first names but not their last. Then again, the mosnter inside of him had taken so much from him…he sighed softly.
