“Freya? Wait,” Ren frowned, “I never said I wanted you gone, Freya, please, let me explain. I was only trying to comfort her because she was crying,” Ren told her, furrowing his brows. He didn’t know what to think. He knew he liked Freya… right? But when she disrespected Edgar, who was currently standing off to the side looking perturbed, and when she violently grabbed Nanee’s hair like that… That weird, sickish feeling settled in his gut again.
Fay turned and looked at Ren. "Crying?" She stood tall over Nanee. Fay was already taller than her, but now to Nanee she felt like a giant, one she couldn't defeat. "Why? I don't understand what a girl like her has to cry over." Nanee had tears in her eyes again and she balled her fists. She couldn't understand how Freya felt, but she knew she was hurting. "Ren-" Fay stepped forward, her feet were where Nanee could see them. "I-I meant prince Ren, I'm fine really." Nanee felt bad, but she also just wanted to punch Fay in the face and tell her to get over it. But the scars would never fade. The clicking of heels came from down the hall, and a sinking feeling crept up in Freya. "Freya!" The queen. She wandered down the halls searching for her. Her body wouldn't move, and it felt like all the scars on her started stinging at once. "Princess, you should hide." Nanee went to grab her hand, but Fay swatted it away. "Don't touch me!" Quickly the heels stopped, but after a few seconds started up again and the steps were closer together, indicating that the Queen was moving faster. Now Fay just felt sick to her stomach. "Freya?" When the queen turned the corner, Fay couldn't hold back. She just started throwing up. The queen looked down at her with the same look she would when she beat her. "You disgusting, revolting child. How could you get any worse." Fay's legs started to get weak but she refused to fall. "Shut up." She whispered. "What did you say?" Raising her hand the Queen swang. The sound of skin hitting skin was heard but there was no sting. When Fay opened her eyes, Nanee was there standing in front of her. Her hair covered her face as it was to the side. The Queen didn't even say anything as she just walked away. Freya was in complete shock. First of all, Nanee was standing in her vomit, and second she just got slapped. But even that, Fay could help but still not like her, although it was a little less now.
(Honestly lowkey don't like Fay anymore)
(Haha, you're not supposed to right now, so I guess I'm writing her correctly.)
As the scene happening like a match hitting a ball of paper, Edgar grabbed Ren by the shoulder and put him behind his back. Ren’s eyes were wide as everything happened, he didn’t know what to say or do. They whole reason he branched out from the Southern Isles was to avoid castle drama and emotional pain.
“That is it, my prince, you are going home,” Edgar declared sternly in his native language, and honestly… Ren wasn’t sure if he wanted to protest. He liked Freya, but… how could he stand up to her after all that had happened to her? Ren just wanted to be pulled out of the pressure at this point.
"Uh, thank you." It was only right that Fay apologized. Nanee turned with a smile, which tugged at Fay's heart a little. She had been acting a little mean… maybe. "How about I clean this up and you take a walk outside?" Nanee then looked at Ren. "Don't be upset with her. She's been through a lot and is trying to adjust to everything again." Surprisingly she said that in his native language. She had studied it just in case she met him, and it seems it came in handy. "Go with her and hear her out." With a smile Nanee practically pushed Fay out the door, which Fay let her. "Go get change then come back. Freya turned with a smile, which Nanee had never seen. "Again, thank you." Without another word Fay ran off.
Ren was still in shock of what had happened. It wasn’t like he didn’t like Freya anymore, he was just… confused, which was the cause of his silence. And he was shocked that Nanee knew his language. The prince didn’t know what to feel, if he should be angry that everyone just decided to barge into his room without permission and cause chaos, or despair because he wanted to see Freya be happy, or… he just didn’t know anything, he felt like a blindfold was put over his head and he was two seconds behind everyone else.
Edgar frowned, glancing at the vomit in slight disgust and not moving from his place in front of Ren. Edgar knew Ren since the latter was an infant, and he could easily read the distress he was under from his face alone. Edgar spoke up so Ren didn’t have to, “Miss, I’m going to have to ask you -and anyone else who decides to break into this room without permission- to leave at this point.”
"Um," Nanee looked to the vomit on the ground then back up to the door where Fay had already left. Nanee was a bit hurt, since technically she didn't barge in, she was more like, dragged along. "Do-do you want me to clean this first?" She was a maid, and doing stuff like this was her job.
“No, it won’t be necessary,” Edgar told her, sternly but not harshly. “I don’t think my prince will be staying in this place much longer.” Ren looked to the floor, knowing that Edgar was probably right. He missed his family anyways, and he knew he was bad at handling pressure. He would miss Freya if he left, but maybe he could. come back when things settled. Like a coward.
"Oh," A saddened smile crossed Nanee's face, but she quickly changed it so no one would notice. "Well, it was very nice meeting you." Her eyes then went to Edgar, "both of you." The one last bow she walked out and closed the door behind her. Once it was shut she ran outside to catch up with Fay. "Princess!" Fay looked up from where she was sitting and saw Nanee, running. "What?" Nanee went in front of her and bowed quickly. "Prince Ren is leaving." Fay wasn't surprised. She had acted horribly towards both Ren and Edgar. "Well, I mean, there's not much I can do." Nanee was definitely getting tired of this weak princess. "You need to toughen up. You're a princess damnit, act like one." Nanee crossed her arms, while Fay could only stare at her. "How do you become like that?" Fay wanted to make up for what she did. "Like what?" Fay sighed and stood up. "Like you. You're tough, but cry when you want. And with everything I did to you, you still try to help." Nanee's features softened, and with a smile she began to tell Fay how she did it. "It's tiring begging angry all time, so why not be happy and enjoy life with you can? Everyone has there shortcomings and no person's story is the same, but if you put yourself in their shoes and try, I mean really try to understand them, it becomes easier to see why they act the way they do. I believe everyone has a bit of kindness in them. And yes even the Queen. Have you seen the way she talks about her kids? That's no cruel person, that's a caring mother who only wants the best." Fay sat back down and thought about what she was saying. What is she? Some happy fairy or something? "Even you, I don't believe you meant to do thoese things, you were just caught in doubt and fear and acted on those." Grabbing Nanee's hands, Fay pulled her down next to her. "I need your help."
Ren sighed, moving away from the vomit to sit in a rocking chair by the window, glancing at the door once only he and Edgar were alone in the room. He looked to his ever faithful translator, “I want to stay,” He said softly, though there was doubt in his voice.
“My prince, I can see all this is troubling you,” Edgar told him gently, moving to sit beside him and ignoring the vomit for now. “Though a marriage with the princess would be benefiting to the Southern Isles, if it distresses you so much by being here, I insist you should go back home. I know you care deeply about your brothers, maybe you should take a break and see them,” Edgar told him sincerely, not as a translator to a prince but as a father-like figure to Ren—as a human being.
"And what do you need?" Nanee was extremely surprised by the suddenness of the princess asking for help. "Now I'm not saying I want to be like you so don't take it that way, but I want a mindset like you. And I also need one more thing. Nanee smiled as Fay whispered in her ear. "I can do that." They walked to one of the empty rooms of the castle. Fay sat in a chair and waited for Nanee to come back with a change of clothes, ones she felt comfortable in. Now going into the Prince's room wasn't allowed, but since he was gone, Nanee had the chance to grab some of his old clothes from when he was younger. Carrying a pile of clothes she walked back into the room locking it behind her. "Here you go." From her pocket she pulled out a pair of scissor. "Are you sure about this?" Fay sta up and looked herself in the mirror. Being girly was never her style. She didn't care what the Queen would say, or her father. Finally Freya was going to be her who she wanted. Nanee smiled and began to cut her hair. More and more fe on the ground as it got shorter. Soon enough, she had short hair like a boy, but it framed her face nicely. She's good at this. Next was to pick the outfit, her brother had so many to choose from. She picked a black one, with some red gems down the front. If Nanee didn't know better she probably would have had a crush on Fay. Although her facial features were softer than a boys, she could still probably pull off being one. This suited her much more. "Come we must go to Ren." Fay held her hand up and stood tall. "No, he's seen a side of me I never wanted him to. Right now he needs time. I know him, he'll definitely come see me." Fay looked over her shoulder with a smile. And Nanee's heart skipped a beat. She wasn't as attractive as Prince Ren, but she was up there. "I have a few of my own monsters to deal with. But first," Fay turned and held out her hand." Nanee took it with a smile. "There's someone I need to check on." Quickly Fay ran out of the room and down the halls. She need to make sure Ellie was okay."

(Huh. That was… not what I was expecting.)
Ellie stirred in her sleep for a few moments before waking up in a panic. She immediately vaulted out if the bed, which cause her vision to go black for several seconds. She had to lean against the wall and take several deep breaths before she felt her heart rate slow enough that she could breathe properly again. She coughed quietly before looking around the room. It really was a mess. Ellie vaguely wondered if Fay was still with the prince; the wondering turned into another panic, and she pulled open the door, running a hand through her hair so it might look… presentably messy?
(Oof the first pinterest image doesn’t work, what does it look like?)
Fay rounded the corner but slowed down when she saw Ellie in the doorway. "Oh, your awake." These clothes were much easier to move in, she was jealous of the prince, but now that he wasn't here, and they were too small for him, Fay decided that she didn't want them to go to waste. "Are you okay?" She seemed disoriented at the moment, and with Fay's new look, that probably wouldn't help. She walked closer to make sure she wouldn't fall flat on her face.
(Heck I'm sorry I haven't been on. Dear gooosh ive missed A lot. I don't habe time rn to go back and read everything- plus I'm feeling lazy- can someone fill me in?, sorry.)
(Where did you end at? Because I'm not sure what yo fill you in on when I'm not sure where you left at, haha.)
Ellie blinked several times. "Who - Fay? You're - you aren't - nice haircut," she eventually managed. She rubbed her eyes and shook her head to wake herself up before looking back at Fay.
"Thanks." Fay for sure thought Ellie was going to scold her, but seeing as that didn't happen, Fay was extremely happy. Then her mind wandered away to when Ellie was sleeping. No, we already decided that it wasn't like that. "Anyway, want to take a walk? That is if you're feeling up to it." Freya didn't want to force anything onto Ellie, if she was still tired she was going to let her rest. I'll have to thank Nanee later. It was because of her that Fay finally realized what she wanted. She wasn't first to be a princess and never was. Fay liked getting her hands dirty and doing hard work, like a knight. Going out and capturing bad guys was something that she really wanted to do.
Ellie nodded and stepped closer to Fay. "So… just to be clear - and I only ask because you've cut your hair like a boy and dressed in boy's clothes - are your pronouns still the same?" She asked tentatively.
"Yes they are. I just feel more comfortable being like a boy, but I still see myself as a girl." Fay laughed a little as she led Ellie outside. The garden is where she wanted to go, since she hadn't been there in a while. Sure she was acting more like a boy, but Fay still loved some girly things, like flower, for some reason she just loved them. "I'm going to talk to my father about becoming a knight, or maybe even just a guard."
Ellie blinked. "You're a princess. You've enough power to order someone killed. And - have you even learned fencing?" She asked hesitantly.
"When I lived in town with my mother, there was a man that took care of me when she fell ill. He was an ex knight. Although he hot kicked out for someone putting the blame on his for murder." Fay cleared her throat as she opened the doors. The fresh air hit her, and the warmth of the sun felt nice. It was almost as if she were a new person, which she kind of was. There was no way to go back to the old Freya. And she hoped everyone would understand that. "He taught me a bit about sword fighting and hand to hand. I'm going to ask him to do it again." Ellie seemed worried, but Fay couldn't hide who she was any longer. Plus, she would be able to protect those she holds dear.
