"Thanks.." He sighed and began to head to the doctors with Liz by his side.
"I've become more of a burden to the marines then a help now." He muttered.
"Thanks.." He sighed and began to head to the doctors with Liz by his side.
"I've become more of a burden to the marines then a help now." He muttered.
”No, love. You're not a burden.” Liz said, gently taking his hand. ”No matter what the doctors say, you're still an amazing marine. You still have the strongest magic on the ship and you're a great strategist.” she reminded him.
(Are you still there?)
(Hello?)
(I died haha, sorry, I kinda had a lot of stuff going on,I could start this up again if you're up for it but i totally understand if you no longer want to rp this.)
(It's ok. I understand that but I would very much like to continue this rp if you're up for it.)
(Ok ok, give me a day to finish off some stuff and I'll do my reply, again, I'm deeply sorry for disappearing without a word.)
(Yay!)
(Don't worry about it)
"I.. I guess.. But.." James took a deep breath and sighed.
"What's done is done.. I can't change the past.." He mumbled, slowly spinning the wheels of his wheelchair in the direction of the medbay.
"But if.. the worst case scenario occurs.. Then What?" He asked blankly, clearly many thoughts had burdened him within minutes. This James wasn't the same in some ways, was that reversible? Or was it a permanent scar?
Liz reached down and held his hand gently as she walked at his side. ”Then we’ll get through it together. And I'm not guessing.” she smiled softly at him, hoping to reassure him. ”I’ll be with you the whole time.” she promised. After being without him even for that brief time in the dream, she didn't want that to happen again.
"Thanks.. Liz. I appreciate it." James let out a weak unsure smile as he squeezed her hand softly.
"I'm unsure whether to be glad this crash occurred or to be.. Scared, there's some good things out of this, me meeting you being one." James said silently, listening to the sounds of people in pain in the med bay area.
"We have to change this situation, even if I die for it."
Liz squeezed his hand gently in return. ”I know what you mean.” she smiled, almost laughing softly. ”I sort of expected I’d crash land on a random planet at some point when I sighed up, but I never thought it would be on one like this… And I never imagined getting magic or falling in love.”
She looked over at the medbay as they got closer, not letting go of his hand. ”We will change it but I'm not going to let you die on me. Not again.”
"You can't stop that sort of thing, that's God's domain, they decide, we just.. live our lives, live the unknown." James muttered before entering the Med-bay.
"Commander James? Can we please talk to you alone? Without any… Unnecessary people?" A woman and a man in lab coats came to the two, the woman glancing at Liz for a second before speaking.
"It's protocol," She added.
"She is necessary." James took a deep breath and glanced at the woman.
"You really haven't.." He let out a chuckle of slight disbelief and pity.
"You should know when to quit Cassandra. Really."
Cassandra raised a brow.
"I do know when to quit, I'm only following protocol." She said quietly.
"Even if it does have a hint of personal feelings," Cassandra mumbled inaudibly afterwards before lightly coughing.
"Well then, I guess we can all go inside then."
James only let out a surprising smirk, whoever this person was clearly had a undetermined affect on him, be it good or bad.
He then made his way into the office, the woman having opened the door for him, the man soon followed.
”I know.” Liz replied softly as the do. She didn't mean to sound like she thought she could stop God… No one was that powerful, even with magic. She mostly meant that she wasn't going to let him throw his life away or be a martyr.
Liz was more than slightly miffed at the doctor's initial dismissal of her but didn't say anything beyond a small glare. As much as she wanted to stay with James, she understood the procedure of ”unnecessary personal”. She visibly relaxed when she was allowed to come in though she raised a brow at the interaction between James and… Cassandra, especially that part about personal feelings. What did that mean?
"I think… Considering how Commander James would be stressed about knowing whether he can walk again or not.. We best go straight to the point." The man cleared his throat and spoke.
"Yes. It will take an indefinite amount of time but it is highly possible you may be able to walk again. It's unknown why this occurred but, as long as you can find time to rest and relax, you should be able to walk. It will be a slow process but I'm sure you can manage." He looked at James.
James listened and closed his eyes in thought.
"But what if it doesn't? You said it's highly possible I will be able to walk again but there's that small chance isn't there? What then?"
"Then.. Then we'll do all in our power to make sure you can walk through external measures."
"Don't waste resources on me." James said as he leaned back into his wheelchair.
Liz felt greatly relieved by the doctor's words. Honestly, she had been a little scared that it had been her fault that he couldn't walk. She hadn't hurt him but when she took him to that lake, she didn't really know what to expect… A full recovery? Maybe, but for him to lose his ability to walk? No.
She listened carefully as James and the other doctor spoke, almost rolling her eyes at James’ pessimism. ”James, don't be so stubborn.” she scolded lightly before turning to the doctors. ”What exactly are the chances? I know you said that it was very likely but I think it would help to know.” she asked.
"75% Chance of him recovering. 25% of…" The doctor let the ending go silent, instead glancing at his notes.
"But these chances could easily change. It depends on how much he puts himself through, the more burdens and stress be it physical or mental stress he has, the more the chances will decrease."
She nodded slightly, wondering just how she was going to help James. In this lifestlye stress was pretty high, especially among commanding officers… Not to mention the mission that they both wanted to help with. “But there’s nothing medically wrong with him, right?”
"For now yes," Clarissa spoke this time.
"However we can't be sure for later on."
James meanwhile just quietly listened, after all, he couldn't do anything else.
”I understand.” Liz nodded again. ”Is there anything else that we can do to help him?” she asked, wanting to do whatever she could for him. … Of course, the only other thing she really wanted to do was shoot that murdering little b@$t@rd, if she ever saw him again.
"Just pray." She said.
"Anymore questions?" She then asked.
”No. Thank you.” she shook her head, looking at James. ”Do you have any questions? You’ve been pretty quiet.”
James sighed and shook his head.
"No need for questions," He said before looking up at Liz.
"Shall we go Love?" He asked, quite tired of talking about his legs and their fate.
Liz nodded, smiling a little at him using that term of endearment. ”Alright, sweetheart.” she agreed before kissing his cheek.
