"Looking for someone, Mr Channing?" Blythe asked, coming up behind him. She was at least a foot smaller than him. "Or perhaps you're lost?"
"I'm sorry, who are you? You look quite familiar. Do I know you?"
"Not me, but I'm sure you are quite acquainted with my father, Tony."
"Tony…? I know a few."
"Tony Reed, of course! I remember years ago when you two would meet up and I would have to stay in my room."
"Ah yes, Reed. Fine man. Didn't realise he had such a beautiful daughter. Tell me, how old might you be?"
"I'm 20 years old. Why do you ask?"
(she's literally lying through her teeth and is good at it and i love it. also reed is a person that channing knows and blythe saw this in his file and used it to her advantage)
(This is absolutely magnificent. Magnificent I tell you.)
Stephanie made her way to a closed area of the room, where only a few people were standing around talking to friends or making new friends. The guards took one look at her and then let her pass, which confused her. Either she was walking straight into a trap, or the guards thought that she was the daughter of someone very important. She felt someone tap her shoulder, and she turned around.
"I'm looking for a partner for my son, is all."
"Terribly sorry, but I'm taken. Besides, my heart belongs to older men." She winked seductively. It worked.
"Oh, is that so? Well, my wife recently passed."
"Are you looking to satisfy the need with a younger woman?"
"Perhaps."
"Follow me then."
(she knows what she's doing, don't worry)
(I is concerned, but I trust you.)
When Stephanie turned around, she was face to face to one of the most ruthless persons she had ever met. A woman that always was a thorn on her side. A woman that didn’t exist in this dimension, but yet, there she was standing in front of her. She gasped and took a step backwards, now knowing that she indeed had fallen into a trap. A trap that she had walked straight into.
“Hello, Stephanie.”
“Iris.”
“Did you miss me?”
“And why would I miss you? You’re honestly one of the most horrible people I’ve ever met in my life.”
“Aw, Miss Stephanie Strange-St-“
Iris was interrupted by a swift punch to her stomach. She growled and her head was slowly brought up to Stephanie.
“Never say my last name. Ever. Not even in public or privately.”
She looked at Stephanie menacingly before a smile broke out onto her face. “Looks like you haven’t changed at all.” She jerked back and grabbed Stephanie’s hand. “Come on, I want you to meet someone.”
Blythe dragged Channing to the disabled bathroom, wanting more room and privacy. She grabbed his tie, pulling him close.
"What do you want to do?" Channing asked.
"First thing first," Blythe whispered, her hand moving down his torso. "My last name isn't Reed." She gave him a swift punch to the stomach, making him keel over. "It's Rogers. Well, Stark Rogers, to be exact. So no, my dad's not Tony Reed, he's Tony Stark."
She then kicked him in the face, hard enough to make him bleed but not enough to break his nose. "And by the way, I'm 17. You fucking pedo. I don't even look 20."
Stephanie struggled to get out of Iris’s grip, but finally managed to do so. She growled at her and took a step backwards, making Iris smile even further. “I can go there myself. I don’t need you to grab my hand and drag me over there.” Stephanie said as she crossed her arms and frowned at Iris.
Iris chuckled and shook her head and then started making her way further into the room. Stephanie followed her as she looked around. A long time of silence passed between them and Stephanie decided to say something.
“So, what’s a crime lord like you doing at a fancy schmancy party? Last time I checked, you didn’t like going to these types of parties. Also, how the hell did you get from you know where to here? You don’t have the power to travel from dimension to dimension.”
Iris sighed and stopped walking. She turned around and faced Stephanie.
"Stay down and stay here," Blythe said, leaving. She webbed the door so that he wouldn't be able to escape even if he tried. Her helmet covered her head and she called Tony.
"Hey Papa. Caught someone. Ethan Channing. Took him down, he's in one of the disabled toilets. I'll web the outside window so that you know which one. We have more suspects."
"Great job, Blythe. I'll be there in 10 and take him to S.H.I.E.L.D."
“Look, Steph, I can’t tell you much. All I can tell you I’m here because I was hired by someone. If I tell you more, then I’ll have to kill you and we wouldn’t want that to happen would we?”
Stephanie sighed and looked around and then finally looked at Iris. She crossed her arms and smiled. “Crime organization?”
“Um. . . .No.”
She knew Iris better than she knew her own self. And she could easily tell when she was lying or when she was telling the truth. And at the moment, she was lying.
“Sure.” Stephanie said with a slight chuckle.
With that, Blythe reentered the party. There had to be more suspects and people who could be part of this. She hoped that Stephanie was actually on lookout and not doing anything dumb, but she couldn't be sure.
“Well, why do you ask?” Her eyes widened and she giggled. “Don’t tell me you want to join a crime organization?”
“No, of course not. You’re the bad egg, and I’m the slightly bad egg, remember?”
Iris laughed as they reached a room with shifty looking people. “Ah, yes. I’m the bad egg. I remember now.” She stopped and a man approached Iris. They started talking and Stephanie immediately went to a corner.
“Blythe, I found one. She’s a crime lord, but she’s not very known here. . It wouldn’t surprise me if she’s part of that organization.”
"What do you mean…'not well known'? We have databases on every crime lord, whether they're big or small. Most of them have no idea that S.H.I.E.L.D. has spies everywhere."
“Oh, Blythe. Even if I told you, you wouldn’t be able to understand. Your brain wouldn’t be able to comprehend what what was going on. No one’s brain would. Well, expect mine, and a couple of other individuals.” She paused and then sighed. “S.H.I.E.L.D doesn’t have any information on her, Blythe. I know that better than anyone else.” She closed her eyes and slumped to the ground. “At least. . . this version doesn’t.” She said under her breath.
Blythe sighed, calming herself down. "OK. I trust that you know what you're doing. I'll try and find Peter and see how he's going. Let's try and recoup in an hour, maybe."
“Alright, sounds good to me. Yeah, I have a feeling taking her down won’t be a easy job, so I might disappear for at least another half hour or so. .” With that she sighed and walked back to Iris and tapped her shoulder. Iris turned around and looked at her.
“Iris, didn’t you want to show me someone?”
Oh, yeah! Stephanie meet my friend Alex. He’s been Uh. . .helping me with some important stuff.”
Stephanie didn’t like the sound of that at all. She just smiled at the man, but the moment she turned away from the both of them, she frowned and took out her phone.
Blythe walked around, greeting people and overall trying to find Peter. She eventually spotted him, but wanted to keep her distance. She could see that he was getting to Linnaea, so she was letting him to his thing.
She quickly took a picture of Alex and sent it to the app she had used earlier. She bit her lip when she saw the results. Another one. . An idea popped into her head and she scanned the whole room with her phone. Seconds later, there was information about everyone in the room. There all criminals, crime lords, or creators of crime groups. Holy shit.
“Iris, where’s Channing and Linnaea? We can’t start without them.” Alex whispered.
Iris only shrugged and dragged Stephanie to somewhere. Stephanie sighed and cursed under her breath.
"Stephanie. Peter has weaseled enough information out of Linnaea. He's gonna lure her to the bathroom and then take her to S.H.I.E.L.D., just like I did with Channing. I'm gonna stay here on the floor. You stay doing…whatever you're doing."
Iris dragged her to a room and then looked down at her. “Sorry, but not sorry. I can’t let you hear all the info we’re about to say, because I’m sure you’re going to run to your little super-hero friends and tell them all the information.” With that, she left the room, but not before locking it.
“Blythe, I just found a whole room filled with criminals, crime-lords, and creators of big crime groups. And apparently, they’re all waiting for Channing and Linnaea to start what I guess is a meeting.”
She crouched down and took out a metal insect from one of the hidden pockets on her dress. She put the insect on the ground and turned it on. The insect immediately went through the gap from the bottom of the door and into the other room. Whatever the metal insect heard, she would be able to hear it too by a earphone that was connected to the insect. Thank god for Wakanadian technology.
"OK. Just…stay safe and don't do anything dumb. I'm going to go with Peter to S.H.I.E.L.D. to make it easier to interrogate the two of them. If there's a lot of people who are suspects in there, listen in. We're counting on you, OK?"
“At the moment, I’m not in the position to do anything dumb, so you don’t have to worry about nothing. Yeah, you go with Peter and I’ll stay here, don’t you worry your pretty little head.”
Blythe blushed. No matter how many times she told herself that she hated being complimented on her looks, she would always blush. It didn't matter who it was, she would blush. "OK. But, still. Stay safe."
“I will, I wouldn’t put myself in danger when everyone is counting on me.” Stephanie smiled and cut the connection between them. She put on the earbud that would let her hear what they say on the other room.
“We have to start, we can’t continue waiting. The night will be over and we won’t be able to do anything.” A random man said.
Then Iris started talking, saying it was such a honor to be a part of them and that she was able to do this with them. Stephanie was confused in what she meant by “this”, but she continued listening.
"What's Stephanie doing?" Peter asked once they had Linnaea in custody.
"She has to attend to other matters."
"Oh, OK." Peter had Linnaea in his arms and had suited up. Blythe quickly checked to see if Channing was still there and saw that he wasn't, a small note left by Tony.
"Let's go," She said, climbing on Peter's back.
“First of all, New York, and not only New York sees us as criminals. As people who can’t be else than Criminals. Which is pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. We’re more than criminals. We’re like villains, well, at least to some people. Our goal is to bring New York down to it’s knees with all this crime. It’ll come to a point that not even the Police will be able to arrest the many criminals out on the streets.”
Clapping was heard, and Stephanie didn’t even need the earphone to hear the clapping. The clapping was so loud, that even the people outside of the meeting room could hear. Stephanie sighed and fidgeted with her necklace. “Lords, Iris, you have the mind of a villain.” Stephanie mumbled.
For any other person, it might be hard to hold on to Peter. He was rocketing through the sky, using the repulsors to go faster. But it was easy for Blythe, who could just stick to him. She considered webbing part of his suit and dangling behind, but that would be too much work.
