(Well, it'll be more of a base)
(And new starter. I need to stop with the really long starters, but I got a bit carried away-)
It had been a couple of weeks since Maki had ended her relationship with Kaito. The usually energetic and motivational person had fallen into a state of despair after the breakup. He had refused to do just about anything in those two weeks, wondering what he had done wrong. He didn't even leave his house. He had no reason to. The people he was closest to started dating behind his back, the one being his girlfriend when it happened.
He hadn't slept for days on end by then, the only amount of sleep he had gotten being from when he just couldn't force himself to stay awake any longer and passed out from exhaustion. On top of that, he hadn't been taking much care of himself, spending most of his time crying until he was dehydrated.
However, despite that, after a couple of weeks, he decided to leave his home and go outside, watch the sunset before looking at the stars, see if that would make him happy. He went to the nearby park with a beautiful view, watching the sunset. He was completely unaware of a former classmate's presence.
(And cue Kokichi)
kokichi looked up from his hiding place in the grass when someone showed up " hello.."
Kaito turned to look at him. "Kokichi…?" He was surprised by the other's sudden presence, but he far too exhausted to express it, and his voice was almost gone due to all the crying. "What are you doing…?"
" watching the stars, kai you sound horrible.."
"I'm just fine, Kokichi…" he replied, sighing. He then looked away. "When did you care, anyway…? I thought you hated me…"
(poke)
" i did.. for a bit but I hated everyone then.."
"To be fair, they all hated you back…" He sighed once more. "Be honest, do you care about me…?"
He knew lying to Kokichi was pointless, so he decided that if the other actually did care, he would just be honest and tell him. He didn't really have the energy to argue anyway.
he thought for a moment " yes I do.." he said
Kaito took the moment of thought as a sign of Kokichi being honest, as it was unnecessary if the other was going to lie. He looked at the other once more, this time long enough to show that the breakup had even physically affected him.
"I…I can explain…if you want…" he told the other, even though his voice was continuing to fade away.
" don't, you'll lose your voice.. just sit with me"
"Okay…" he said as he sat closer to the other, falling silent for a bit after that.
kokichi pulled the other closer into him, rubbing his back
Kaito would go from watching the stars to just looking at Kokichi in silence. There were things he wanted to say, but he knew he wouldn't be able to. As this continued, he eventually began to fall asleep, finding some form of comfort with Kokichi. He forced himself back awake before he could fully fall asleep each time
kokichi watched the stars, holing Kaito and sighing softly
Eventually Kaito got up, realizing that he should go back home. However, he couldn't remain standing for too long. The combination of exhaustion and dehydration left him weak. He only got a couple of steps in before he collapsed.
kokichi yelped, racing to help him up.
