(um just wherever I guess? Maybe at whoever's hosting the party's house???)
(Sure that works. If someone will just say what happened I’ll jump right in! My replies might be a bit short and/or only at one point in the day. My schedules full and now I’m getting surgery so even more physical therapy to fill my schedule. Yay.)
(Hope everything goes okay!)
(Thanks. For some reason, I think my friends are more nervous than I am and I’m the one getting my Achilles’ tendon sliced.)
(oof good luck Ellie! And actually, can someone else maybe start? I'm too busy to be able to type out a paragraph from both Ves AND Aquila)
(I hope that your surgery goes well!)
(also i can start if that’s cool,, i’m pretty free today)
(so i read the first part of the last one and i’m going to go off of that)
Cosmina was sitting in the corner alone, as usual. Around her, the party was in full swing, with warm lights strung up and soft music playing. Her parents had decided to host a party with all of their old friends from the revolution. Their adventures were the stuff of legends, but Cosmina didn’t see why her parents needed a stuffy old party to get together with their friends. She nibbled on the pastry that she had taken from the snack table, sitting on one of the many chairs set up throughout the room. Of course, her “perfect” brother was across the room, talking to a couple of adults. That was Ever, always the people pleaser.
Ever himself was feeling incredibly anxious as he told the adults a story about something dumb he had done as a toddler that always made his mother laugh. These people were insanely famous and he was just a teenager. What if he said or did the wrong thing? That would make his whole family look bad. And of course Cosmina was hiding in the corner by herself. She didn’t even try to interact with the others. Ever kept the smile on his face as he talked, finally finishing his story with a trickle of relief. It was cool talking to his parents’ friends, even as nervous as it made him.
Lisette walked towards Cosmina. “Hi. You look lonely. I’m bores let’s talk.” The redhead swirled a neon pink drink around it’s red solo cup spilling a few drops on her brown boots. “Merde! It’s always the good shoes.” She grumbled.
(ooh thanks Elle!!)
Vesper had not yet arrived. He was supposed to arrive late so he could slip inside, pass himself off as some…distant cousin of Winter or Jacin. How he was supposed to do that, he had no idea. He didn't look anything like either of them, and he couldn't trick them with a glamour, since the chips would keep everyone from being able to be fooled by a glamour.
Aquila was already inside. He was, of course, Winter's younger half brother. Not that anyone knew that. No one had yet asked who he was. And even if they did, he couldn't tell the full truth. Aquila Hayle-Blackburn? Never. They would throw him out or worse, because of his mother. Because he was the rightful king of Luna, and he intended to earn his throne back.
(On another note, my phone tried to autocorrect Luna to Lube, and I died of laughter lol)
(wheez)
(lmaooo)
Cosmina smiled slightly at the girl, giggling a bit at the spilled beverage. “I’m Cosmina. And I wouldn’t say I’m lonely, more like avoiding talking to my parents’ friends.” She shrugged. “But I wouldn’t mind the company. What’s your name?”
Ever happened to glance over at Aquila during his conversation with the adults, a shiver coursing through him at the sight of the other boy. He had never seen the kid in his life, but he could already tell that he was bad news. After a particularly strange anecdote from one of his conversation partners, Ever excused himself politely to the drinks table, pouring himself a glass of water.
Aquila ran a hand through his brown hair, fingers brushing against the scar on his spine where his chip had been removed. He shook his head a little as he looked around. They didn't know how good they had it here. With their parties and their get-togethers, all in honor of Selene. The usurper. She had killed his mother, and then she had done away with the monarchy. She had tricked everyone. She had made them all see his mother as the enemy. His mother, who only ever wanted what was best for Luna.
As Ever sipped his drink, he took a glance around the room. Most people were either eating or chatting, and he noticed even Cosmina was talking to someone. That made him smile. The boy from earlier caught his eye again, and Ever decided that he looked lonely and a bit out of place. Wasn’t it his job as a good host to welcome this kid to the party? It would help Ever find out who he was, anyhow.
He walked over to the kid, tossing the empty cup in the trash along the way. “Hi, you look a bit lost so I figured that I’d introduce myself and um, formally welcome you to the party,” he said with a charming smile. “I’m Ever Hayle-Clay.”
(i changed their last name to Hayle-Clay bc i like that better btw)
Aquila looked up, his left eye twitching and looking away. He couldn't control it very well at the best of times, and with all the stress right now…well. He smiled back, holding out his hand to shake Ever's "Aquila." he replied. He couldn't very well use his alias of "Hayle" with someone who was an actual Hayle, now could he? Nor could he say Blackburn without inviting trouble. So he simply used his first name, hoping he wouldn't be asked for anything else.
“Lisette. Lisette Kesley. Scarlets daughter if you couldn’t tell by the hair.” She smiles to herself and sighed. “Soo”
Ever shook his hand, a bit confused about the lack of surname. This kid didn’t look like any of the adults wandering around at the party. Maybe he was a cousin of someone? He didn’t want to be rude to the guests, so he mustered a smile instead. “Cool name. So, what brings you to my parents’ party? Were you dragged along by a relative too?” He laughed a bit, trying to foster some camaraderie.
“I’m Winter’s daughter. My mom talks about Scarlet, like all the time,” Cosmina responded. “It’s honestly a bit cool to meet her daughter in the flesh. Enjoying the party?”
Aquila chuckled softly, and grabbed a drink, trying to give himself a bit of a break. He could take a drink if he needed a minute to think, which he did, taking a long sip. "Yes, actually. It's a rather long story, though, that I quite doubt you want to hear." he realized that he sounded rather formal…oh well. Not much he could do to fix it now. He glanced around, wondering if and when Vesper would show up. He had been under the impression that Sybil's child would also be coming.
Ever grinned. “I understand. Normally I’d love to listen to your story, but after too long of listening to people’s, um, rather strange anecdotes, I’m a bit storied out.” He chuckled, feeling a bit better now that he was around someone his own age. The bad feeling from earlier nagged at his stomach, but that was beginning to fade. This kid didn’t seem bad. Ever was probably just anxious again.
Aquila let out a soft laugh, taking another sip of his drink. "Ah, yes. The…thrills of hanging around with parents' friends, yes?" he replied with a small smile. His eye drifted again, though his right remained fixed on Ever. The slightly clouded surface of his left eye was a bit strange looking.
Ever noticed his wandering eye, but was too polite to comment on it. He smiled again, his dimples making him quite boyish. “Tell me about it. If I have to hear one more story about either me, Cosmina, or one of the others in diapers I am going to explode.”
Aquila laughed. It was strange, talking to…oh, Stars. Ever and Cosmina were his…step-neice and nephew. Oh, stars. Since his mother had adopted Winter, which made her his older step-sister. Possibly half-sister; he wasn't sure if they shared the same father or not. Which meant that this boy who was just about his same age…was his nephew. Sort of. "That does sound irritating." He replied, his facial expression not giving away his thoughts.
“I know, right? Are your parents here? Because I bet you if they are, they’re telling all of your most embarrassing stories,” Ever went on, glancing back a small group of people, including his parents, laughed at something. He smiled. “But if your parents aren’t here, I’m probably just being annoying. Sorry.” He laughed sheepishly.
"My parents are dead." Aquila replied without thinking. Which was strange for him; usually he did think about what he was saying. He took a sip of his drink, then cleared his throat, looking at Ever levelly. "So no, they aren't telling embarrassing stories about me. And don't bother apologizing; it is not your fault." It's Selene's. And she is going to pay for what she did to my mother.
Ever’s mouth hung open for a moment then closed it. “Oh, that was thoughtless of me. I’m sorry. Oh wait, no apologizing. Sorry. Stars.” Ever cleared his throat, embarrassed. He didn’t do great in situations like this. “Anyway, um, how about you tell me yourself? It would be nice to get to know another of my parents’ friends; one who is thankfully close to my age.”
