@Mojack group
hello, I’m reviving this because this is a pretty good thread that we can still get use of. using this to talk about my character, Sira.
Who are they?: Siirawyn Joselvin. A former farmer, to Ter Kvis soldier, to “im trying to recover from my trauma,” to powerful magic (Aeth) user, to cult leader, to magical tree, to Aeth beast. yeah, he goes through some things.
What are they about?: At some point, even he admits he’s lost sight of his original goal, but does not believe himself to be capable of redemption. “Gone too far, might as well continue,” sort of deal. Siirawyn is all about getting revenge, first on the Serloven (a kingdom in his world) then his own kingdom, the Ter Kvis, after they execute his parents. Then, his mind shifts towards creating a new world, where all Aeth users can be safe. Initially, he is incredibly determined to reach this goal, but as time goes on, and his health declines due to his curse, he becomes more wary. He never admits this to his cult members, much less his enemies.
What are their goals, if any?:
- Revenge (Serloven people, for killing his brothers: succeeded. Ter Kvis, for killing his parents: succeeded). He demonstrated his powers by burning 1/4th of the Ter Kvis capital.
- Becoming a powerful Aeth User (succeeded). From when he was born, Siirawyn had plenty of Aeth. He may very well be the human with the largest amount of Aeth, to date - even a thousand years after his ‘death.’ When he made a deal in the Forbidden Labyrinth, he gained the means to control his Aeth, and became perhaps the strongest Aeth user ever, reaching his prime at 33 years old, just 7 years shy of his death.
- Making a new world where those with Aeth in their veins are safe (succeeded in a way, failed in other ways). While after his ‘death,’ the world had the highest recorded percentage of Aeth users, who were stronger than before and could defend themselves with ease, some of them became corrupted with strange Aeth, turning into what can be known as “Aeth Beasts,” who ravage the world.
Are they really ‘evil?’: Sort of. Not from the beginning - younger Siirawyn was far more reserved, more stable - and would have been more than content to remain on his family farm, if it weren’t for his brothers convincing him to come along to join the army. If you’re non Aeth user, you’ll most likely see him as evil. If you’re Aeth, you might still see him as evil, depending on where you’re from (if from a place where Aeth users are treated well or neutrally, you’d see him as bad probably). He reaches a climax for how evil he is at a certain point, then gradually declines. By the time of his resurrection a thousand years later, he’s still got a bit of hatred left in him, but not as focused as he once was.
Backstory?:
- Had three siblings, one died as an infant, grew up with two brothers instead.
- Grew up on a farm, did plenty of farm work and learned important skills.
- For someone living outside of a castle, had a decent life.
- At 21, the Ter Kvis army went out to prepare for a “big war,” his brothers convinced him to join, saying they would return soon.
- Trained, fought in small battles. Learned new skills and improved others.
- A big point was the storming of a big Serloven fortress. While initially successful, Sira learned after the battle that both of his brothers had been killed.
- Gradually became less optimistic as time went on. Stayed in the army to continue the war, but began to doubt.
- Eventually tried to go back home at 23 by running away. He was spotted, and fired upon with arrows.
- Severely injured, Sira fled, escaping his pursuers by entering the Forbidden Labyrinth.
- Exact details are unknown, but it was here he made a deal with something in the Labyrinth - said to be a powerful spirit, who gave him the means to control his Aeth, but left him with a curse that would punish him in the coming decades.
- He spent some time recovering, aided by his Aeth. Then went home.
- He lived a somewhat peaceful life for a while.
- One day, he left to get something for his parents, came back, only to learn they were gone. When he found them, they had been executed due to their association with him. People had spotted him doing Aeth magic, rumours of his escape from the Forbidden Labyrinth and death had risen, and people began to fear that it was not Siirawyn who escaped the Labyrinth, but a demon that had replaced him.
- Angered, Siirawyn attacked the area, but found himself outnumbered and now branded an enemy of his own kingdom. Feeling betrayed, he fled.
- He would eventually establish a cult, starting from vulnerable minded Aeth users. Eventually, the word would spread, and new people joined, Aeth and non Aeth users alike.
- Began to hunt for his brothers killers. Somehow, he found them two years later, and was far from merciful.
- One year later, he burnt down part of his kingdom’s capital. While it garnered him negative attention, it allowed a massive resurgence of members into his cult. Cult began to view him as some sort of god.
- Turned his sights towards establishing a new world, promising to lead his followers into paradise.
- Reached his prime at 33. From this age, his health began to decline, both mentally and physically. Suffered headaches, loss of appetite, fatigue, etc.
- continued to lead his cult.
- At around 40, he told his most trusted members to pass on the message - to “drink from the water that the roots connect to.”
- He would then turn into a tree due to the curse. Cult members would drink the water, and become powerful Aeth users - even ones not originally born with it. News eventually spread, even non cult members wished to drink from the water.
- His cult would protect this tree - fortifying it, building almost an entire castle overtop it; as well as a labyrinth. Not as elaborate as the original one, but hard to navigate, and booby trapped.
- However, most of his cult members became warped by Aeth for whatever reason - turning into fearsome, but animalistic Aeth Beasts. Hard to kill, their only goal would be to protect the tree.
- 1254 years later, the tree shifted, and Siirawyn awoke in a new form as an Aeth Beast. He was mildly disgusted by the current state of the world, but fought whoever woke him up anyways- and that’s all I have.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start?: Was not always bad. Maybe, if he stayed on the farm, he would have been fine. Or, for a more negative approach - if he suffered the same fate as his brothers, the world would have remained the same. Siirawyn did not live in a very good world. It did not do him many favours. His experiences made him the way he was.
Do they get redeemed somehow?: His ‘redemption’ is most likely death. He may have a moment of clarity prior to this, regret even - but he won’t fight on the side of the protagonists, at least not directly.
What do the other characters think about them?: His story takes place over 1000 years prior to the heroes’ story. They likely know very little of him aside from written records. When they learn of him, it’s like “Well, he can’t be alive, can he?” and others absolutely hate him for turning the world into what it is.
When they do learn of his current status, it’s fear, because what if you have to face one of the strongest beings to ever walk the planet?
What happens to them over the story?: human farmer with extremely mild aeth abilities > soldier with extremely mild aeth abilities > farmer with powerful aeth abilities > cult leader with powerful aeth abilities > special tree > Aeth Beast > dead
