Who are they? What are they about? What are their goals, if any? Are they really ‘evil?’ Backstory? How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? Do they get redeemed somehow? What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?

Feel free to talk about any sort of details on your antagonists here; or converse about other’s antagonists as well.

@Oakiin

Who are they? Finley, Grease, Norton, Goliath, Ellias, Vance and Molly
What are they about? They are my main's team, put together to track down and arrest the people who killed my mc's parents. They took my mc in after they were almost killed by the same peeps who killed their parents.
What are their goals, if any? Their "goal" is to track down and arrest the rogue military scientists. However what they're really doing, (unbeknownst to my mc), is tracking them, and taking the results of their unethical research and reporting back to their superiors. Enabling in the name of good under the guise of justice.
Are they really ‘evil?’ They sure don't think so. To be honest, even my mc doesn't think them as 'evil' when they find out. Unethical and immoral, definitely.
Backstory? Cello Rigor had the idea to track the rogue scientists instead of directly arresting them, in order to gain knowledge of their study without tarnishing the military's name. Cello, being a man who plays 4-D chess with the world, had many, MANY motives for this, and in the end he was allowed to put together the team. It was his idea to recruit Dakota, my mc, and ultimately he foresaw and used Dakota's killing spree when they found out. He was the only person associated with the project who escaped with their life, since Dakota never knew he existed at all.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? The team was a set genuinely good, bright people. They sincerely accepted Dakota into their midst, and their friendship was anything but fake. They believed what they were doing was right, and headed by Molly, a truly inspired team lead, they were a bit of a dream team. They worked together smoothly, all had years of experience in their fields, and had Dakota never found out about the whole not technically doing what they told Dakota they were doing thing, they would have all done great stuff together.
Do they get redeemed somehow? While the team is made up of entirely redeemable people, they never get the chance. Dakota kills them all, which isn't really portrayed as a good thing. But Dakota's well past their breaking point, so we'll never know what might have been.
What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story? After they bring Dakota into their team as the mechanic/weapons crafter, they all bond closely. Dakota, for the first time in their life, found people aside from their parents who truly loved them, and who they truly loved. Dakota sort of broke in half when they discovered that their team had been using them this entire time., and lying to them. It was the final straw, paired with their parent's deaths, the rejection they'd received from all other people they'd met, and the endless pain associated with people. For better or for worse, Dakota killed them one at a time, starting with Grease, and ending with Finley, who had become their closest friend. Generally, however, the team was well-liked, friendly, and welcoming. Before the betrayal, they were loved and seen positively by any they interacted with. In the public's eye, they were heros.

I honestly love these guys, I'm having so much fun writing something that will hopefully be really painful for the reader. No one's in the right here, everyone's very much in the wrong, but it's a story about people meeting their breaking points, how humans will justify anything to themselves, and how devastating manipulation and lying are in their lives. And their betrayal is totally out of left field. You'd never expect it, except I just told you xD

Who are they?: Over the course of the story, it’s referred to as many names, the most well known being simply ‘The Meteor’ although Meteor is incorrect; Meteorite would be a much more correct term.

What are they about?: The Meteor isn’t actually a meteor…in case that wasn’t obvious. In its dormant, hibernation state, it behaves like one. In reality, it is something a bit more sinister. I’ve yet to decide the full extent of its origins but it is alien for sure.

What are their goals, if any?: Convert/terraform the Earth into an incubator for…something. This conflicts with the interests of everyone and everything on Earth since you don’t really want to go extinct. The Meteor doesn’t have any other goals in mind, it just knows only one term: Survive, by any means possible.

Are they really ‘evil?’: From the perspectives of almost every living thing on Earth yes (if you’re in a cult worshipping The Meteor, meaning you believe it to be some sort of deity or maybe you believe that it came to punish mankind you may think differently). From The Meteor and infected, no. The Meteor is just doing the only thing it knows how to do. It’s not really complex in terms of personality, the only conversation it ever engages in isn’t verbal and served only as a way to tell humans to ‘Get away’ because they were interfering with its objectives.

Backstory?: Unknown origin, presumably of alien origin. Came to Earth for unknown reason, again presumably to create a ‘liveable environment’ for something else (which no one knows what it is, given The Meteor and its effected can survive perfectly in a variety of conditions, you have to assume it’s something that’s a bit late to the party….or already on Earth..) I only started to work on its history fairly recently.

How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start?: Nothing ‘changed’ them. It’s kind of like how the cat hunts the mouse. It is in the cat’s basic instincts to hunt prey. It is also in The Meteor’s instincts, for whatever reason, to kill all possible threats and wage war on mankind.

Do they get redeemed somehow?: I really don’t think this one can be redeemed guys, but if you come up with an idea let me know

What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?: Well, they think its a normal meteor at first, until the water supply of a nearby village of the crash site gets poisoned. Or so they think. Government attention attracted, although the crash isn’t in Russia it’s close to the country and they decide to get their hands on whatever’s there before anyone else does. They learn that there’s a leak in the meteor; it leaks a strange black fluid later discovered to have similar makeup as blood, almost as though the meteor is alive. Government does its best to keep the whole thing a secret but it’s hard when you’re pulling people from their homes, gathering whoever you can to study this thing.
The village doesn’t vanish out of existence though. It comes in later…after someone working in the containment zone is exposed to the fluids. Gets sick, extremely sick, then suddenly feels better after a day or so in hospital. This all happens to the village people as well.
Unfortunately, The Meteor has placed down its first roots in the war. The infection proceeds as planned, no one has any idea what’s going on until thousands are infected. Same symptoms; all report feeling healthy later on. Any previous ailments before exposure are gone.
And then they all snap. And decay. The ones exposed to the meteor don’t live for extremely long. That, or they turn into something that no longer looks human. The Meteor keeps the more important ones alive, the ones in higher places. Most civilians are just cannon fodder. It can also be observed the infection is transmitted even after death. By this time spread becomes worldwide, and their efforts to shutdown everything are useless as The Meteor reacts to that as well. Instead, it produces more underlings that can survive without a human host. It also begins to change.

Now if I said anymore of that I’d go on to explain the entire book (let’s say that by the end of the book The Meteor doesn’t look like a meteor anymore…) so I’ll go onto the opinions of the characters. Let’s also just say they’re mixed. At least one main character is infected, so they follow The Meteor….for now.
Others are a mixture of fear and anger, at what it has done. The Meteor should be stopped. Some say there is no stopping it.

I recently redid this antagonist and although it’s not really a typical antag (incapable of movement, speech, etc) it’s really interesting to write. The story itself is as well and I haven’t even gotten to the part where the meteor actually hits Earth yet either lol. kinda wondering if some chapters should be written from the Meteor’s perspective…they’d be short, but it would be interesting to see a different perspective on the events of the story…

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(I agree Mojack, that's a super cool idea! I realized after I read it that it kinda reminded me of one of my antagonists, and I really wanted to talk about her(it) to someone, so here she(it) is! ^^)

Who are they? A twenty-something girl named Saffron on the surface. Underneath that, there's an otherworldly being of unknown origin called an Erased One whose real name can't be spoken without agitating Earth's tectonic plates.
What are they about? Erased Ones are beings that have suddenly started appearing on Earth and taking human form. Even the Erased Ones don't know why or where they're from, because they lose all their memories when they arrive. They don't even remember their names….except the most powerful ones. They're called Level Fives by humans, and there's only three of them currently on Earth. Saffron is one of them. According to witnesses, she claims to remember her real name, where she's from, and exactly what she's doing here.
What are their goals, if any? Saffron has many reality-defying supernatural powers, including hypnosis, mind control, shapeshifting, teleportation, etc. But her main ability is omnipresence. She can spread out her consciousness through human hosts and control them as perfect extensions of her own body. Her hosts lose all sense of their own identity once they're infected (or Unified, as she calls it), but all their knowledge and experience is shared with Saffron for later reference. Even in multiple bodies, she refers to herself as "I", not "we", because the mind link between all the bodies is so flawless. I have a really cool vision/aesthetic for how this works, but it's hard to convey in non-prose writing TvT Her goal is to Unify as many people as possible, and she's well on her way to doing that.
Are they really ‘evil?’ Evil? Nah. Self-serving and lacking in empathy skills? Very yes. Humans will naturally see her as an enemy because she essentially turns their loved ones into zombies lol.
Backstory? I'm still figuring out the details of the Erased One's homeworld and natural ecosystem, but we can assume that Saffron was pretty powerful/dangerous there as well if she was able to retain her memories after her trip to Earth.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? She's really only doing what her particular species always does to survive. Think Agar.io really, the goal is just to eat everything smaller than you and get as big as possible. In her head, there's nothing at all wrong with that. Trouble is, in her old world, she was limited by the competition and the terrain. On Earth, there's nothing holding her back, so she's basically an invasive species.
Do they get redeemed somehow? I'm not sure yet, but I doubt it will be that simple.
What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story? There are two main camps: The intrepid organization trying to research and control Erased Ones called Goldenrod, and the humans that are already acting as Saffron's new hosts. On Goldenrod's side, Agent Abbot is part of the research team who discovers Saffron's existence and realizes the extent of her plan. Naturally, he and the others are doing everything they can to stop her, but with limited technology and knowledge of the enemy, it's proving very difficult. On the hosts' side, Tom is a random college guy who met Saffron on the side of the road one night. Due to her powers, he immediately fell in love with her (a love much closer to the fever of religious devotion rather than actual human love) and under her control he brought her home to his family, who also became hypnotically obsessed with her. Saffron lied and told them her plan was to end human suffering and fighting by bringing everyone together in peace and harmony through the Unification process. They weren't in their right minds so they agreed to be the first people Unified. The infection takes five days to take full control, and it's a lot like getting really sick for most of that time, but Saffron had them all psychically high as kites he whole time so they didn't really feel the pain. By the time Tom's memories and sense of self were fading, he was too sick to resist, and soon he and his family were gone–there was only Saffron, with three strong new bodies to help her navigate the world.
The "original" Saffron is the only one who can complete the Unification process to make new hosts. The other hosts can only hypnotize prey and lure it to the original. Still, even though Unifying takes days, she soon has a small town of people under her control. At this point, she decides to go for the big fish and make her presence known to the city next door. That's when Goldenrod finds out about her and desperately starts trying to stop her. But with no idea who the original host is, they can only chip away at the edges of the crowd, and they have no way of defending themselves against her powers.
I don't really know how it's gonna end, but I at least know one of the other Level Fives gets involved and tries to stop her as well, with much better results. Still working out the details.

Sorry for the dump lol, I just had to share all that with the world XD

@Celestial-Burst

So my story technically has 2 antagonists, but we’re gonna go with the final and more major one!

Who are they?
They are a collection/malgamation of what the main characters call “voids”. Voids are mindless, black, creatures created and placed inside of the void itself and used to “keep the balance”, which in my story the void is basically the white emptiness between dimensions that the portals the characters explore cannot reach. The different between regular voids and the antagonist void that I’m talking about is the fact that this “void” is intelligent and pretty much all-knowing. They’re basically the keeper of all things, they are what keep things in order and keep Fate and destiny going in the right path. They feel no emotions and only do what is necessary, though they can be persuaded through deals.
What are they about?
This “void” has been around since the beginning of time itself. It’s like… energy. It cannot be created or destroyed (the main characters don’t know this though lol), but merely strengthened and multiplied, which the unintelligent voids spawn from. They keep things going down the correct path and stop them from going awry. Though they are not completely powerful and things can often turn unexpected, they usually can see the most likely outcomes of things. They see the future like a tree branch, everything is connected but different paths are the different branches spurting off from the main one. They are there to keep things correct. If something happens that isn’t supposed to, they fix it. They can create alternate realities, open up new portals and dimensions, basically anything that Fate allows.
What are their goals, if any?
To keep the balance of fate and all things. They do not waver from the path that they see is necessary to be taken. But, they can alter and change things if offered energy. It lives and thrives off of the energy produced in the void, though sometimes it gets low and needs extra, thus offering it energy can help persuade it to alter things for you.
Are they really ‘evil?’
No. They’re only doing what is necessary to keep the balance. Even if it may not be fair, or nice, or what the characters want. But if it’s what destiny desires, then they do it.
Backstory?
Not really a backstory for them. They just kind of have always existed.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start?
They’re really only doing what is necessary. Nothing that’s inherently for bad Or with bad intentions, unless of course they’ve made a deal with someone, and they must fulfill their half of the deal which is… let’s say, turning humanity into it’s perfect form (which may or may not be a deal in the actual plot line of the story) or destroying a world or something. Then yes, it is inherently bad, but they don’t have bad intentions, in fact they’re neutral to all things. But a deal is a deal and they keep their word.
Do they get redeemed somehow?
Nope. Not really. They do help out the characters a lot throughout the story because of deals and such.
What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?
The characters don’t necessarily understand them. Why can’t they do what the characters believe are right and not these other things? They did lie to the characters once so that made it hard for the characters to trust them, but they were only trying to do what was best for the characters.
Okk so I can’t say too much without spoiling my entire story lol, but I’ll try.
So basically, one of the mcs brothers made a deal with the “void”, that if they would protect their brother and save him from this predicament they’re in, then the brother would give the creature some of his energy. They obliged and helped one of the mcs through the story, until they save his brother. Well now his brother is somehow dying, and they find out it’s because giving this creature your energy is basically them taking your life away, and his brother had done it so many times that he’s practically dying. Now they’ve got to go and save his brother again. They try and do that but the creature is also using the same mcs brother as basically a “host” for another deal it made with someone else. So they have to solve that problem too. Not gonna spoil how it ends but that’s basically it!

Oof sorry this is so long lol, I basically shortened everything too

For my now unfortunately dead story Demon's Hunt I decided to do something a little different. Instead of having the protagonist as the lead mc, I decided to make my antagonist(s) fill that roll. I hope that I'll be able to revive this story because I was having a ton of fun with it!

Who are they? William Wintergrean

What are they about? Causing as much chaos and mayhem. He's a demon, so he naturally wants to do this.

What are their goals, if any? Kill his intended targets, innocent bystanders be damned. This eventually turns into eliminating SNOW.

Are they really ‘evil?’ To anyone else, he most certainly is. To himself though, he's only doing what makes him happy.

Backstory? William was originally a god that went by many different names in multiple cultures that was corrupted into becoming the demon that he now is. Some of his godly names include Izanagi, Geb, Cernunnos, Actaeon, and Freyr.

How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? As stated above, William used to be a god, so he didn't initially start out bad. Once Lucifer's corruption took hold the former god took on the natural temperament and traits of a demon.

Do they get redeemed somehow? William was going to kind of redeem himself to his co-worker (and love interest), Cale by being sweet, supportive, and romantic towards him. He also might've been redeemed by having an encounter with another god.

What do the other characters think about them?

  • Cale is initially distrustful of William, having had a bad experience with demons in his own personal history. Slowly but surely he starts to trust William, even going as far as developing romantic feelings for his demonic cohort.
  • George sees William as nothing more than a tool that he can use to enact his deadly vengeance upon others, even though their deal is for William to act as the older man's son.
  • The agency of SNOW sees him for what he is; a bloodthirsty, ruthless killing machine that must be stopped by any means necessary.
  • RAIN views the relationship between George (one of their members) and William as unhealthy and unwise, even though their mission is to stop SNOW from making supernatural creatures and beings extinct.

What happens to them over the story? William makes a deal with George Wintergrean to act as the man's son for a total of 14 years. During this time, William is given the opportunity to track down and kill people that have betrayed or harmed George in some way; George actually lets William decide whether or not he'll do this of his own free will. Taking the chance for "freedom", William accepts. Enter Cale, the human that is to make sure that William doesn't get a little too carried away with his killing spree! Working together, they eliminate several of the people (and entities and creatures) on George's list, eventually gaining unwanted attention from SNOW (Supernatural Nullification Operating Workforce). Along the way William and Cale eventually fall for one another, with William even saving Cale's life from an ex work partner of Cale's and another demon that holds the human's soul. Cale discovers what type of demon William is, putting even more strain on their relationship. Eventually they end up defeating SNOW (and killing those on the list), possibly get married after William has his near fatal encounter with a god that he once knew, where upon George's deal comes due. William personally tortures George in Hell with Cale by his side.

@knikols

Who are they?
Error
What are they about?
Do no harm but take no crap. Error doesn't really want to kill anybody but does what needs to be done to survive. Chaos.
What are their goals, if any?
To complete their quests to finish "The Game" and eventually prove everyone that said Error was weak and useless wrong.
Are they really ‘evil?’
No
Backstory?
Error originally showed no signs of an actual ability when younger so Error was teased and made fun of. Error when about 3 gained the Hallucination ability when a terrible accident occurred supposedly killing Errors family however no one has any information on the accident nor does Error remember. Error as a child was always an outcast at school for not having an ability, but still being young some thought that the ability would appear noticeable as Error got older. But as Error got older and there were no signs of an ability Error was bullied more. Error got into reading and playing games lots because Error could be anything other than Error. Eventually, Error started gaining quests, and Error would complete them, like turn in your homework so Error would do the quests in secret. But one day Error was forced over the edge when villains attacked the school and Error was injured trying to fight and none of Error's classmates or the hero's helped Error. When the school was left in nothing but ruins and everyone else had evacuated Error was left alone in the rubble badly injured. The villains noticed Error and had a villain evaluate Errors ability to see if Error was worthwhile. They learned of Errors two abilities and of what had happened and decided to take Error in. Error went willingly because it had become a new quest, and Errors only goal from that day on was to finish the game.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start?
Error came to be through teasing and bullying, Error was nice at the start but eventually cracked under pressure.
Do they get redeemed somehow?
Yes
What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?
Damian- Psycho that tried to kill us
Castin- Misunderstood?? But LEAVE ME OUT OF YOUR PROBLEMS
Kody- Misunderstood.

Who are they? Nearly everyone ends up being an antagonist at some point

What are they about?
Sheep bois- Game ppl who screw up stuff and kidnap real human beings

Rabbit bois- They mainly drag Charlie into stuff bc he used to be a bully and Hanahaki disease

Dog bois- Part of an organization to kill Lucas

Fox bois- A bunch of people who wants Jax's heart

Cat bois- Infected people

Pengu/Crow bois- People who want an amulet

What are their goals, if any? To be broad,

Sheep Arc antagonists want to escape their digital world due to being stuck in a shitty game and being corrupted by virus, blow up IRL and act like they don't know nobodyTo be specific, Gaki, be an idol, Hiyayaki, consumerism, Otori, being the most admired, Ongi, Insato's love, Tsumi, becoming a human save for Insato she just wants revenge for being abused and shamed by everyone, oh Varlarie was bullied by Sophie and wants to make her life hell, plus she wants to summon the main villains to disprove the myth that anime bois are kidnapping people or to jump on the Don't call X @ 3AM [gOnE wRoNg] bandwagon

Rabbit Arc peeps either want to take down the top dogs or want to keep status quo for their benefit, oh and that thing about the flower virus infecting them and making them killing machines

.

In the Dog Arc, The antagonist were exes of Lucas and were hired by some fairy godmother figure to kill him because as a half phantom he can screw up the balance with spirits by his mere existence

Fox Arc, well basically Jax is Yui, everyone else is a vampire, The Fox Queen who I didn't name is Corndog, and I guess Alex is that guy with the pickle colored hair but instead of glorified abuse they decide to get straight to business just rip his heart and put give it to Alex so he can do a switcharoo to become Fox Lord,

Cat Arc, Some kemonomimi aliens made some super steroid drug that was unhealthy for their consumers so they yeeted it on earth, but they realized that it's not good to litter so they sent an employee to clean it up, Matt's dad got stuck in the stuff and fell became a cat monster so the alien decided put him out his misery, A few months later Matthew, Theo, Cleo, Skylar, and Elliott race around some hill, saw some gas, explored it like a bunch of nincompoops and got infected. Now the drugs kicked in and now they plan to chase their dreams by attacking a bunch of people with their new superpowers Matthew: protecting Sophie from being dragged into the other guys' BS, Theo: Becoming more liked and getting friends, Cleo: Becoming smart, more dignified and escaping her airheaded ditz image, Skylar: Being noticed by her douchebag parents who abandoned her for views Elliott: Getting rid of anyone in the way of him and his mom

Penguin/Crow Arc, The Newspaper Club are trying to get the inside scoop on the magical incidents that are happening by pestering Sophie and her friends but then Micheal, Sophie's otouto, figures out that the leader been taking pictures of them without permission and that they stole her amulet, Micheal tries to take it back but they break it a ghostie jumps out, Sophie teacher's Mr. Crowworth notices and puts it back together but he compensates it and generally refuses to give it back and acts like a prick towards them, Then Micheal meets one of the members with some lady, the member, Chrystal says that they can help him but it turns, the lady was a girl who was turned into a vessel for some witch ghost, who tried to kill William on multiple occasions and was the one who cursed Sophie's classmates in the first place due to just wanting to becoming a better, stronger person, meanwhile Sophie has to stop her ghost dad from killing his old classmates bc He salty bc he died and death's lonely

Are they really ‘evil?’
Mostly everyone are just people who screw up royalty though some exceptions are

Insato-

The Kikuchi bros- They're rotten lil fuks who would use anyone to further themselves, even each other

Elijah- While he's a general jerkass who bullies people and tried to kill everyone, he does genuinely love his family and tends to stand up for his shy and meek sister and really wants to please his negligent father

Claire- She's just even worse than her brother, who generally obsesses over popularity, and she tried to kill a guy and held his boyfriend hostage

Hunter- He's mainly evil but he loves his younger brother and sister

Camille- Well she did try to kill her husband and son but she died trying to make a family like she always wanted

Alex- He's mainly a prick, he wants to keep his family together out some sick, twisted form of love

Fox Whatshersname- While she's also pretty evil, she at least wants some justice for her daughter

Matthew- While yes, he did try to kill Sophie's friends, but He was infected with cat steroids and Sophie with the other cases

Witch Lady- Evilness Incarnate

Marionette- I dunno, She was possessed but at the same time she was shown to be selfish when she got amnesia and reverted back to her old timid and demure self

Duke- He is a ghost that kills people with diseases but he's was told that he was doomed to die from a liver disease from age 15, it got cured but at a few years later his son got the same disease he got, so to cure his on he wishes to for the disease to take him instead and even then he got hit by a truck in front of his children

Do they get redeemed somehow?
Insato- I guess I gave her somewhat of a "Little Mermaid Ending" by basically fixing her mistakes and helping other characters in her former situation by not committing a full-on massacre

What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?

I'm getting The Tommknockers vibes.

Makes me think of Unity from Rick & Morty.

~What are they about?
He's a really perverted and manipulative guy
~What are their goals, if any?
to basically Marvin Gaye get it on (but in the bad way. Like, without consent) with both of the Hitler Children. He wants them all to himself.
~Are they really ‘evil?’
I mean, he's perverted as heck and has twisted desires. He's not like villain evil, but he's, I don't know, morally evil?
~Backstory?
I haven't really thought about that. Maybe I'll get back to you
~How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start?
I mean, his sex drive has always been through the roof. But when he heard about the Hitler children, that's when he truly became perverted.
~Do they get redeemed somehow?
Nope.
~What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?
The other characters don't like him at all because of what he did to the main character. And nothing really happens to Kent, except at the end it alludes that karma comes for him because of everything he's done.

I hope I did this good ;-;

Who are they? Yannika Harding
What are they about? She's Kacey's tennis rival and enemy.
What are their goals, if any? She wants to make sure that she's at the top of the social hierarchy, and will stop at nothing to get there.
Are they really ‘evil?’ 'Evil' might be a strong word. she's definitely manipulative and bitchy, though.
Backstory? She was adopted when she was five years old, and her family isn't the best, to say the least. I go into more detail here.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? Being raised in a toxic household took its toll on her, so she came up with ways to handle it and make others feel as bad as she did when she was younger.
Do they get redeemed somehow? Yes, with the help of Kacey.
What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?Kacey despises her, Nabila dislikes but respects her and Karuko is indifferent, but ships her and Kacey. Over the story, Yannika learns not to bottle up her emotions and take her anger out in a healthy way. She also gets back into contact with her birth parents, realises the hurt of her actions and strives to be a better person,

The Wannabe Evil Archmage has one of those bullshit jobs that nonetheless pays well. While he is capable of his own fucked-up brand of empathy: it doesn't quite occur to him that not everyone can be bought. He is reasonably attractive, very charismatic, and I would like to hope that seeing him get punched in the nose by either Naomi or Kieron (the former would go all-out and has better technique; the latter would probably have to pull it to avoid outright killing the guy, and would still leave a bigger mark) would be emotionally satisfying.

Would I call him "evil," per se? Well…the guy basically aspires to be Rowley Thorne; even so, I'm not sure. I would, however, call him a sonofabitch.

Who are they: Adeline Winterbourne
What are they about: Power.
What are their goals: She wants to have unmatched power and control. And world domination.
Are they really 'evil': Well, the human inside her isn't. But her mind and body has been overrun by a demon, so that part is definitely evil.
Backstory: In her universe, humans have no power. Unlike the nymphs, fae, and Seldra who walked amongst the humans. Despite being born into a royal family and having an immense amount of power to really do whatever she wanted, she was still extremely jealous of those who could weild magic. Her family hated the immortal creatures, and any child of magic, but never acted on this hatred despite immense discrimination. But Adeline wanted unmatched power. She wanted to be more than the children of magic could ever dream of. So she began studying, and she came across an old theory of different worlds. One being the UnderWorld. Strong healers could tear a rift between worlds, so that someone or something may walk between them. Adeline took action on this theory and hired five of the most powerful and oldest healers in the Kingdom. Their magic worked, and they managed to tear a small rift between worlds. Adeline ventured into the UnderWorld, and before being eaten alive, one of the princes took interest in the human walking amongst them and presented her to one of the five kings of the UnderWorld. Adeline presented her case, and being young, impressionable, uneducated, and really stupid, she made a bargain with the king for power. She must let some of his creatures through the rift and into her world, as the King had grown bored in his realm, and begin to work on taking over her world. He promised to spare Adeline, and Adeline, being the selfish teenager she was, agreed. She told the king she would be coming into power soon, and that she would arrange her parents death so it might come quicker than expected. The king had one of his princes infest her body, and Adeline welcomed the dark presence and newfound dark power. She closed the rift and went back into her own world. She killed her own parents, and came into power, and began her rule. It took a while, but eventually the demon took over her entire body and mind, until Adeline was no longer her own person, but she answered to the dark presence inside her. She began to regret her choices when she no longer had the control she longed for. She, or the prince inside her, began to eliminate any creature who may stand in their way. Fae, Seldra, Witches, Healers, Nymphs, were all banished from their lands, and a majority were executed. Adeline began to take over the entire content of Endora, until she had built up an Empire. The one place she did not touch, however, was Taibia, in fear of the young princess with the power to destroy bodies with her mind. So Tabia stood, a threat, and a wrench in her plans. Once she took over Sansora, she took over the Northen Pass, and reopened the rift. The King sent in a few of his creatures, and Adeline harbored them there, making the Northen Pass a stronghold for all things evil.
How did they come to be: She was young, impressionable, and selfish. Raised with hate for all creatures of magic, she became overrun with jealousy.
Do they get redeemed somehow: Not really, but she does have a moment of humanity.
What do other characters think of them: She caters to those of noble status, and to the humans, who fear the power the Seldra, Fae, Nymphs, and Witches have. Those people follow her blindly, but those who can see past her facade despise her. Verena, her sister, hates her, as much as she hopes to reedeem her, she hates her. Kenna thinks she's a major pain in her ass, and wants to get rid of her as quickly as possible, of course she takes the threat of Adeline a bit more seriously when she finds out who she really is and who Kenna herself really is. All the Elite despise her, as well as the Fae and the Nymphs, which are two very powerful groups to make enimes out of.
What happens to them over the story: basically, bitch almost wins and then the bitch says rip

@Mojack group

I’m back with another antagonist to share!

Who are they?
Fedir Kulyk. Primarily known as his last name. He’s a human male, working on his own terms with his provided resources and orders sent to him. He is a bit of a complicated character though..conflicting goals, since he works against a species of which his adopted ‘daughter’ is from. Luckily (for the time being) his daughter seems to side with the humans..for now.

What are their goals, if any?
Serving the government, basically. And ensuring the survival of mankind, even though that’s not really much of a problem. Wants peace.

Are they really ‘evil?’
Not really. He may do things that seem cold blooded, but he’s a lot more merciful especially as time goes on. Work is really the only thing he knows - even though, in the back of his mind, all he wants to do is live in a peaceful world.

How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start?
He wasn’t rotten from the beginning, oh no. He was a case of “you’re going to this job and you’re going to like it” from his family forcing him into the work, and he just adapted to it really well. Got used to it and became a known member. He’s too far in now to betray - plus he has no reasons to.

Backstory?
W.I.P. in regards to childhood and whatnot, but I have a concept going for him on discovering “Runt” (as she is known by other Dikhogs) or Maryna, Fedir’s given name to her (and also the one he was going to name his recently deceased daughter.)
Time planning is wacky but I’ve decided to have Maryna be 13 by the time of the main story, which would mean if Fedir were 25 upon finding her, he’d be 38 by the time of the main story as well.

Finds Maryna, doesn’t have the heart to kill her and intends to smuggle her in, but it’s not easy keeping that thing secret, especially as time goes on. Luckily, he’s able to convince people he’ll keep her under check and this could prove to be a learning experience, even though he dreads using his own daughter as a tool.
As far as active role, he doesn’t really play that much up until Maryna is involved (which is by the time war breaks out) in which she is captured (unharmed) and returns about two days later to tell her father about her capture.

Do they get redeemed somehow?
Maybe. I’ve not gone that far in planning, but I could see some ways for him to be redeemed, especially with the Maryna storyline lurking around.

What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?
In his camp, some humans see him as weak for taking in a Dikhog as one of his own, especially giving it a ‘human’ name. That number dwindles, especially when he does a little bit of…public execution. Overall, most humans see him as just another pawn in the playing field, but there are some (his loyalists) who see him as the greatest thing. Others see him as a man with a lot of hidden problems.

The Dikhogs don’t really learn who he is until the war begins. They’re surprised to learn about ‘Runt’, and almost believe that maybe he would be willing to help them, however he proved to be a very powerful figure who surprisingly, despite his immense, clear care for Maryna, had no patience for other Dikhogs, especially after the temporary capture (despite Maryna barely being harmed.)

I don’t have too much planned aside from how he goes through a lot of emotional and mental pain after the passing of his wife and unborn daughter, and some recovery after discovering Maryna. Gradually makes a name for himself. Maybe he gets redeemed, maybe not.

Who are they?: Vorin.
What are they about?: Uniting the kingdom.
What are their goals, if any?: He wants to bring all of the warring clans together, wants to have a happy family again. (I laugh maniacally at this, he never had a happy family.)
Are they really ‘evil?’: Nope. His motivation might actually sound heroic. He's the antagonist because the clans don't want to be united and instead of being diplomatic and talking to people he just kind of kills anyone who resists.
Backstory?: He was born into the conquering people business, childhood wasn't amazing, he was literally raised in a war camp. His wife cheated on him, his oldest son died, and his daughter hates him. Fun times all around.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start?: His father had no parenting skills whatsoever. He was taught that fighting was the only way.
Do they get redeemed somehow?: Well he sort of starts to, but then he gets murdered soo…. no.
What do the other characters think about them?: Some of the characters hate him with a burning passion, some are terrified of him, one loves him because Vorin is his father. A few don't even know who he is.
What happens to them over the story?: He gets really sad because all his children hate him and each other and no one can see that the clans need to be united, and then he dies because his daughter hates him.

If you're confused, don't worry, I am to.

Who are they? Valkyrie Goldthorn
What are they about? Protecting her family
What are their goals, if any? Assisting the Darkwings (name in progress) in eliminating dragons so no one has to go through the pain of losing loved ones to the beasts like she did.
Are they really ‘evil?’ No, just misguided.
Backstory? At the beginning, it looks like a "rags to riches" type of story. She is a peasant farmer with a large family that has basically nothing. She finds out she can talk to dragons in a horrible way, because her brother is (accidentally) killed by a dragon, and she meets a young man with the same gift (who is actually blamed for this whole incident that killed Val's brother among others. Basically, it's this whole disaster. She moves into this village with people who coexist with dragons because she will be able to make the coin to better-sustain her family.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? She's understandably scared of dragons, and bitter towards those who care for them so deeply. She is not a bad person, just a hurt one.
Do they get redeemed somehow? Ehhhh, sort of. She's still condemned for making the wrong choices, but she doesn't get killed off. Her former friends begrudgingly accept an apology, although their relationships will never be the same again because she helped kill people. We do know she showed some remorse and actually may have been the difference between the heroes winning and losing because she let go some of the Darkwings' captives that she knew, out of guilt.
What do the other characters think about them? Range of feelings: 1. Confused about motives, hurt she would turn. 2. Blind rage against her. 3. Kind of get motives, but still think she's a bad person. The Darkwings, on the other hand, pride her for her strength and prowess.
What happens to them over the story? She is shown to have good intentions but makes bad choices. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"? That's her in a nutshell. She gets sort of redeemed, but not really. She's redeemed but doesn't necessarily grow much, because all the damage she played a hand in causing makes it so that she's probably better off returning to her family where no one knows what she's done.

Who are they?

Nhikota. A being of the Alter, an alternate universe right next to ours; yet with very different rules compared to Earth. Essence is the fuel that runs in the plants, the rocks and ground of Alter. Nhikota and their species use the Essence to fight and to live. However, as of recent events, the Alter is breaking a wall that separates it from Earth. And frankly, that’s not good.

What are they about?

Revenge, really. Members of their species used them for what they wanted, against their own fears. And that took quite the massive toll on Kota - and it backfired on their people, too, as now the Alter is slowly falling apart, as it leans into the barrier that splits the two worlds apart. Not they’re not so sure - they’re losing their own mind, filled with resent for the world. But also a tinge of curiosity - who are those mysterious figures in the mirror?

What are their goals, if any?

Break the wall that splits Earth and Alter away, and merge the two universes. That’s not really Kota’s thinking - they’re possessed in a way, by ancient spirits, but luckily, Kota is in charge most of the time.

Are they really ‘evil?’

Not…really? What they aim to do is greatly destabilizing for the world, but they don’t really think about the consequences of their actions, a flaw in their being that has never changed. Kota originally was to protect Earth from the creatures of the Alter, which does make their goals ironic in a way, because they’ll be endangering the whole of the Earth universe.
They prefer to minimize killing humans as much as possible, and only attack them when forced to, if that’s worth anything. They don’t mindlessly act - at least, not completely.

Backstory?

From a plant deep within the caves of the Alter, Kota was born to fight. They spent much of their time early on in these caves, fighting their way around, trying to find a way out - also summoning one of their three Essence Companions. The first was named Mryth, who guided them on the ground to the surface of Alter. Alter was a chaotic world - with rarely a moments rest. The safest spots were actually the Hunting Grounds, areas hunted so much the monsters in these areas became few in numbers, and often feared to interact with the Hunters of Alter.
It was here where they were greeted with one of the kingdoms of the Alter, and also considered to be one of their homes in life. They met others of their species here - most did not want to talk, it wasn’t anything against them, just how life went. The kingdoms served as a spot for trade and talk, or a place to pray and regain Essence.
Soon came a competition, and Kota of course couldn’t resist the temptation to fight, it was in their mind after all.
It was an arena, and Kota was among the 18 to have won. They fought against rows of monsters and won. They also summoned their second companion, a mount named Revimak. This would prove useful in their journey to the Spire, where the 18 winners were sent to fight a massive monster that threatened to break the barrier and go to Earth.
The journey went well, except for the mountains, where Kota summoned their final companion, a winged being named Zare. Zare, from the skies was able to lead the group safely to the dangerous Spire. Needing all the energy they could get, Kota called off all their companions.
The fight with the beast was long, but with no casualties, it was considered a success.
The journey back was not so good.
A sudden, unpredicted attack caught the group off guard, and swept over them. Here there were casualties, and most of the group perished. Kota would learn later this was staged by the kingdom. Returning back, the royalty explained to the survivors that the monster had survived, and was quickly regaining power. With Kota left as the strongest member, they gave Kota an empowering rune, and sent them to take care of the ‘monster.’

But there was no monster. And when they arrived at the Spire, expecting the fight, the ticking time bomb that was the rune went off. The royals intended for Kota to not survive - no one should survive being right at the Spire - as it was destabilizing. But they did. And they absorbed all of the energy the Spire and rune had to offer, and Kota changed for the worse. Physically and mentally. Originally, the royals hoped for the Spire to weaken enough for them to invade Earth, but weirdly enough, the Alter was pushed back from the barrier temporarily. That, in its own, gave a very unstable Kota the time they needed to attack the kingdom that had sent them. Without mercy, the only mercy you would find was by escaping their wrath. But even if the powers they’d been given made them extremely strong, they lacked control.
And in a final effort, the royals put their power together and pushed Kota back to the caved in ruins of the Spire, and falling, falling, falling they went. The royals imprisoned Kota here, stating they’d find a way to deal with it, but in reality, they knew they had made a horrible mistake. They were only delaying a collapse.
Locked in the remains of the Spire at the very bottom of the world, Kota rests in a pool of corrupted Essence. Their companions live as they do, however - protecting them and following their every command. Albeit, under different forms.
But in the mirrors - in the wall, Kota peers through to see a different world. A world they reach out to, a world they want.
A world they will have.

How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start?

Was a hero at first. Not so much now - the Corrupted God, Nhikota is their title.

Do they get redeemed somehow?

I’m not sure. I have plans - but they’re works in progress.

What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story?

Not really known by humans at first, in Desolation MC sees them and thinks he’s going insane, and that’s one of the first face to face experiences. However, they’ve had other experiences, before with an unnamed incident that had something to do with messing around with portals and dimensions. Albeit a violent one, but also curious. The humans here think of them as some sort of god or demon; ones who believe the former want to release them, the latter want to keep them in their dimension. Eventually leads to an incident where all humans in the facility are killed, not before sending a distress signal out, and the humans of this specific dimension send a team of human and robot operatives to rescue them. But there’s no one left, only creatures of the Alter trying to leave.
This leads to the facility getting transported to ‘our’ world, of which a storm occurs - a storm that crashes the helicopter that the main character of Desolation is traveling in.

Main character of Back to the Roots was amazed by them, and they had the same feelings, never having seen such a piece of engineering before. But main character gets mauled by a monster (who gets thrown into a wall by Kota, angry at the monster.)

Presumably most humans would be scared. People of the Alter also fear them. A whole lot of fear, basically.

@Leshierian

Who are they?
He's an unnamed prince of the dead.
The heir to the throne, a throne he wants purely out of fear.
(Unnamed by policy of the crowning. "A name is only given to those who deserve one".)
What are they about? hating all living beings. Yes for just being alive, he's been taught they are inferior.
What are their goals, if any? Harden himself, be cruel and cold, have hatred fuel his every action, fill himself with an undying loathing of the world he cannot control, the living one. Become what he was meant to.
Are they really ‘evil?’ No.. well not in the larger sense. He is cruel in a school yard bully way, since he is unable to access his full power at the moment. (Do to his father punishing him for being weak by sending him to the living world where he is stuck in a living body, that breaths.) He'll tease and make fun as much as he can. try to take power away from others, though he isn't very intimidating in his little living body.
Backstory? His father has been trying to harden him, though all attempts seem futile. Since watching over all death transactions is a large part of being ruler, his father has been assigning him to work different jobs; Sorting the dead by the lives they lived, moving old lives to new holding areas. extracting the entirety of the freshly deads' consciousness from their disembodied heads. Most at which he failed. His father was getting nowhere and it was infuriating. His father ended up just sending him away to the living world for a while as a punishment. Now he's stuck in a living body, a petite soft one at that. He needed power any way he could get it. So he started verbally abusing anyone and everyone, which you see, is where the
dislikable part of him comes out, all the other characters see is his complete disregard for others. He feels an entitlement to the world. going from a prince to some kid isn't exactly easy for him, though at least him being in the living world get's him away from his father, who would constantly make him feel weak and worthless.
How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? Oh, well, his father raised him to be like that, so kind of from the start. though he's never been able to match his father's malevolence.
Do they get redeemed somehow? Yep. See, this guy Landers, he wouldn't leave The prince alone. He started out hating Landers, he couldn't stand his presence. but as time wore on, The prince started feeling things he really didn't want to. He started hating Landers less. He still won't admit it but Landers helped him. helped him realize there isn't one kind of power, and you can be weak and still be worth something. (pretty much Landers help the prince find self worth, raising his confidence)
What do the other characters think about them, what happens to them over the story? I'll go by character. since some feel differently.
Landers: This adorable feisty little dude, who he just wants to be friends with.
Oscar: A prick, someone whose never really had it hard, and feels like he deserves everything. who can step on anyone he wants.
Harli: An annoying kid who Harli feels sorry for, but doesn't want to get involved with.
Lincoln: Oh, another spoiled brat.
Chester: Someone who Chester really doesn't want to involve himself with.
His father: A weak failure, his father is degusted at the fact that he created him.

Who are they?: Mara. She's a hybrid and her name used to be Ephyra Azykil

What are they about?: Turning the world to ash

What are their goals, if any?: Basically, ending the world

Are they really ‘evil?’: I wouldn't say so. She's just really confused. And, mostly due to being a hybrid, she doesn't actually have any morals so she's more like an animal in the sense that you can't really call her evil.

Backstory?: To summarise, there was a bunch of people who killed her parents and took her captive and treated her pretty badly. Sort of like a pet rather than a person because hyrbids do tend to be seen as nothing but animals. Mara however is very intelligent although, as a hybrid, she can't feel emotion so she acts purely of instinct. (Hybrids are also pretty messed up mentally and have some physical issues like slow healing, infertility and such). So her instinct after she escaped was to destroy the threat of these people but her logic told her that she wasn't capable of taking on a whole nation. She started training and eventually became a mentor herself however the madness of her race began creeping into her mind as she got older. Her old impulse to destroy the threat became twisted over time into a very strong need to destroy the world. (She's also really powerful magic-wise so this actually isn't way outlandish for her to do). I won't go into too much detail but by doing this she would also be fulfilling some age-old prophecy. It didn't help that a couple of people close to her egged her on. And her grip on her own mind would continually get less and less as she ages which is in the nature of a hybrid to do but she lives for a surprising amount of time. Most hybrids don't live far past adolescence or even past their first year.

How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? Kind of explained it above. She's only really doing what's in her nature to do although she's very good at humanising herself so a lot of people actually see her as normal and thus consider her evil. It's pretty obvious that she isn't evil if you get to know her though. She's actually really inquisitive and chill unless she's having a weird hybrid episode.

Do they get redeemed somehow?: Eh-nope. Maybe if she and the protagonist had a level-headed conversation things might have turned out differently. But, to be fair, she slaughtered millions.

What do the other characters think about them?: Mostly terror and hatred. A lot of the opposing characters haven't had many encounters with her, just her commanders and stories but they're still terrified of her. Kado has a lot more personal vendetta against her. Those working with her have learned to handle her. Most still fear and respect her but among those who deal with her often, there's an understanding I guess.

What happens to them over the story?: She deteriorates into madness. She completely loses who she was. It comes on a lot faster after she started making firestorms which obliterated several civilisations. She does have a character arc of learning to understand her connection to the protagonist and such but she doesn't get much of a chance to work it all out and by then she's already gone.

I really want to do a genuinely evil antagonist who loves doing evil shit so…

Who are they?: Krodha Irrukenuk. A dakren and the queen of Naktruin

What are they about?: Chaos!!

What are their goals, if any?: Krodha isn't a very good queen but dakren are obligated to follow their monarch and she has a mob of loyalists surrounding her. She wants to bring the continent to heel. She basically wants to turn the other races into cattle from which she and her kind can feed from. (Dakren are carnivorous and way back when they had man-eating tendencies which became illegal but ever since the fall of the black-eyed dakren who are the true monarchs, the royal bloodline became corrupted, leading to Krodha basically forcing it onto her people.) She's a control freak and wants absolute power.

Are they really ‘evil?’: Yes. Very much so. Some say she and her family have been cursed by their god, Mortessorem, for their sins. But who knows. Maybe she's just crazy.

Backstory?: I don't have a super in depth backstory for her yet because I haven't really focused on her but I know that she's the great granddaughter of Idana Irrukenuk (and so like a fourth cousin to Ahmik Rejkirick I think) who were both characters from a story earlier in history. I do know that there's some dodgy incest shit in the Irrukenuk family and so that dodginess transferred to the general population once the Irrukenuk family became in charge (it's just how dakren work). Actually, Krodha used to be the main antagonist for an old story that I've since scrapped but now she's a more minor antagonist in a main story.

How did they come to be, or maybe they were rotten from the start? She already had some issues because…ya know incest. But she was probably raised to be the way she is now. She wouldn't have been bad from the very beginning.

Do they get redeemed somehow?: She's irredeemable. She's done some really dark, bad things.

What do the other characters think about them?: Disdain. Disgust. Fear. The usual. The main protagonist has a few encounters with her and has expressed both sorrow over the path that the dakren and their once lively culture has gone down and disgust towards her actions due to said protagonist's past experiences.

What happens to them over the story?: She's a really minor antagonist. Nothing really happens. And if anything does, it happens after the story is finished.

The thorn king : Literally kicked off the apocalypse, then spent the entire postapocalypse systematically ruining the lives of the few surviving humans and mutating them into elrditch monsters. He discovered some kids had formed a cult around him, and visited them just so he could turn them all against each other.
