Dear Vozreal,
Good evening! My name is Blair Yoo-Bathory. Most people are pretty intrigued seeing a seventeen year old boy with a name like Blair. My late-father and my mom wanted to have a girl but I just appeared. I live near Seattle but sometimes fly over to Hungary to live with my step-dad and mom or Seoul to my grandparents. Sorry, it has been years since I had written a letter to someone. Plus my handwriting might be a little sloppy due to hand cramps, but I can rest assure you that it'll be better next time.
Anyways, I hope that everything is doing well over at your end. I'd never had met someone who's even older than the planet and even the sun. To be honest, I assume you're something supernatural. Am I right? Forgive me in advanced if this going overboard.
Sadly I don't much to ask about ask right now. Although I suppose I do have just one; I don't want to bother you with a letter full of questions. What do you like to eat? Any particular meal or snack?
That is it for now though. I am so glad that you are my pen-pal friend. Have a good day and talk to you soon.
Best wishes,
Blair
(Can I join this again? I have a developed universe to use)
Dear Blair,
What an interesting name, Blair! And yes, I am supernatural. I'm a demon. But no need to fear, I've changed my ways. I personally like gyros and fancy steaks. How about you? What do you like to eat? Sorry for the rather short letter.
Sincerely,
V. R.
Dear Vozreal,
No need to worry about the short letter! Thank you very much! No one really sees the name "Vozreal" a lot, but it's nice. I do not fear much about things. Somehow I always manage to be calm and have a smile on my face. You do not seem that scary for being a demon. Never would've thought I'd be talking to one though, very exciting nevertheless! Sadly, I'm just a human.
Ah well, having a straight answer is difficult. I cook and bake a lot except sometimes the maid helps me with certain parts of a recipe though. There's pörkölt which is this meat stew with some paprika and vegetables. Beef bourguignon, coq au vin, bulgogi… I have a lot of favorites, really is hard to just pinpoint one.
Sincerely,
Blair
Dear Blair,
Ah, someone who smiles a lot! A man (or woman, or whatever) after my own heart! You know what they say, you're never fully dressed without a smile!!
I do not know much about humans, but I heard they like chocolate… especially Hershey Chocolates. Which I helped created, by the way. And I'm glad you have such a interesting palette. I, too, have a excellent palette. A question for you: Do you indulge in such things as romance?
Sincerely,
V. R.
Dear Lincoln,
I don't think I've heard of Hyphen City, not that I know geography very well at all. What kind of creatures are there? Around here we only have miscreations (eldritch horrors of all different shapes and sizes. Not a cheery bunch to be sure) and Felix, our local god of fortune. He's an ass but he doesn't charge me rent, so I guess I can't really say much bad about him.
This is the end of the letter,
Austin
Dear Austin,
My City Is hidden. Very hard to find. I just wanted to communicate to someone outside of it. The creatures that live there are the type the humans call 'Mythical creatures'. We have a few Nyx's, Avians, and so much more. And wow, A god being an ass. Im not sure how you live. I also have a go living in my city. The god of wealth, Cole. He can be an ass, sometimes, but he's usually nice.
Talk you ya later,
Lincoln.
Lincoln,
Ah. You live on the Other Side. Yeah the mythics are… interesting for sure. Are the ones in Hyphen very friendly to humans? The fae keep trying to steal my name and the avians keep making fun of me for not having wings. It's annoying to say the least, but luckily I spend more time in Hell than up in the Islands.
Although, in their defense I hang out with Felix. He's kind of scammed/robbed most of the people here. I think they're warming up to me a bit but I still prefer the First Side with its normal humans. At least normal people can't threaten my life. Usually.
I don't have anything else to say,
Austin
Dear Vozreal,
That is true, a smile is a nice complimentary accessory to any outfit! Besides, everything is much more happier and reassuring with a beam. Although I try to give a small one with a big effect, I don't want to get many wrinkles when I get older. Once in a while though, I come across a person who's grin isn't very affirming to me; not to be judgy.
Us humans do like chocolate for the most part. Some do and some don't, but there are many kinds of it. I prefer dark chocolate while most people I know prefer milk. Countries like Germany absolutely love, they do produce a lot of it. I try to conceal my sweet tooth, but oh my Lord, it is outrageously difficult. Oh well, a few pieces help me get through some classes. I do believe you are correct though, but I still have enough time to develop my palette of course.
Yes I do get involved in romance here and there. It isn't my main priority right now, I do hope to get married someday though. Most relationships I've had were just casual or summer flings. I did date someone for a bit, but it didn't work out for the better. Maybe I read too many classics or didn't open up enough. Sorry about that though. What about you? Or do you just like to read books where the main plot is just romance? Despite how books and films make it to be, it's always better yet difficult in real life.
Till next time,
Blair
Hey, um, don't mean to pry but could I join this? I have a [relatively] fleshed out world and I know a lot about how my character(s) think/work.
Dear Blair,
No, I do not indulge in such things as romance. I did once, but it didn't work out, so…
You watch any movies? Sorry for the short letter.
Sincerely,
V. R.
Dear Vozreal,
Aw well that is a shame. I understand as well as hope that you feel and are doing better. Romance is not a thing for everyone but society pushes it to be. My strange heart just wants it yet some don't, completely fine by me.
Sometimes I watch movies depending on my schedule. These days I am so busy with school work, club, and friends, I just get so exhausted. Most of the time I just watch dramas and other shows since they're less time consuming. I'm into psychological thrillers, suspense, dark, and slow burn kind of shows/movies. Anything that gets my brain and heart geared up or wanting more is perfect. Analyzing films is one of my favorite things to do. What about you?
Sincerely,
Blair
PSA: THIS IS AN EXERCISE IN WORLDBUILDING. LETTER WRITERS SHOULD BE PROMPTING PARTNERS TO SPEAK ABOUT THEIR WORLDS IN ORDER TO GROW THEM.
(can i join, i have p developed universe?)
(Sure. Remember to parentheses when casually speaking.)
(Thank you! Anyone open for letters?)
(I'd like to join. :) I have a universe that's fairly simple but well developed, if you would bestow upon me your permission)
(ok, how do I begin? My character is itching to go!)
Hello, new pen pal! I'm soooo excited to get to know you and your universe as well as possible. I'll start off by introducing myself. My name is Leo Hendricks, I'm an 18-year-old male from Kentara. Our place isn't much but it's home. Anywhere with my family is home, really. How about you? What does home mean to you? I know that they say home is where the heart is and all but I think that kind of romantic stuff is just yech. Not worth my time. And you? Do you like romantic notions or algebra? Anyway thanks for agreeing to write to me. Things get so lonely at my bakery.
May your stars shine ever brighter on the morrow, Leo H.
