Rhiv: his eyes are narrow, and he doesn't say anything more. he turns and leads the way off in the direction Salmook went, keeping an eye on Tseth as he walks. Rhiv isn't exactly sure how far Salmook's gotten, but he's just a kid, so it can't be too far.
Salmook: he peeks out to see as much sky as he can from the ditch. the sky is starting to change colors - the beginnings of sunset. he doesn't feel very tired despite walking all day. huh.
Tseth: He follows next to Rhiv, keeping a good distance as they walk. He looks up at the sky through the trees. Sunset already? Interesting.
Parvus: He chitters and follows after Tseth and Rhiv, staying close to Tseth.
Rhiv: he walks in silence until both he and Tseth are a decent way into the forest again. he stops in place, looking around. "Doubt that he's far…" he's talking to himself more than Tseth, really. he looks to the sky and brings his hands to his mouth. Rhiv starts whistling a foreign birdcall - an "all clear" signal between him and Salmook.
Salmook: he's daydreaming, unsure of what to say to Resh. he's ripped from his thoughts by a familiar sound - Pater! he wriggles out of his hiding spot. it's an effort, and his boot comes loose, but Salmook puts it back on with new energy. "That's Pater!"
Tseth: He looks over at Rhiv when he makes the birdcall. He decides not to ask questions about it. Probably calling Salmook, as nothing else here would respond to it.
Resh: He looks up when he hears the birdcall. “…Interesting. I just whistled.” He seems to be talking to himself.
Parvus: He looks up at Rhiv, then awkwardly tries to mimic the call.
Rhiv: he repeats the call a second time. alright, maybe Salmook got a little further than he'd thought. Rhiv starts tapping his foot - ouch. he glares at Parvus for a beat. scaly rat. Rhiv rolls his eyes and looks away.
Salmook: he hurries towards Rhiv, stumbling over some roots and stones, yet generally keeping his balance. "Pater!" how far away even is he?
Tseth: He crouches down to Parvus, speaking to him in a tone Rhiv wouldn’t be able to listen. “He’ll warm up eventually. As long as you don’t bother him.” That’s more of a warning than a statement of fact.
Parvus: He huffs at Rhiv, then looks up at Tseth. He blinks a few times, then chitters in agreement.
Resh: He stands up and quietly starts following Salmook.
Salmook: he comes crashing out of a bush and nearly tackles Rhiv to the ground. "Pater!" his excitement is turned to confusion as he notices Tseth and Parvus still with him. he tilts his head at his pater.
Rhiv: he's about to repeat the call for a third time when Salmook slams into him. he staggers back before he's pulled into a hug. stars above, he's too old for this. Rhiv stands as Salmook releases him, and he catches his son's strange looks towards Tseth. "Not important. Let's go."
(not Rhiv completely disregarding Resh-)
(Oh no what a shame,,,,,,,,,,,,)
(cough anyway)
Tseth: He looks at Salmook and Resh as they come back. Good. He stands up, and starts heading in the direction they came.
Parvus: He squawks happily at Salmook and Resh, then climbs up to Resh’s shoulder and bats his face lightly.
Resh: He looks over at Parvus and puts his hand in between the little dragon and his face, letting Parvus’s front feet catch on his hand. “No.” He quickly follows Tseth, not bothering to take Parvus off his shoulder.
Salmook: he follows after his pater and Tseth, looking up at them. clearly, something happened, but he's not sure what, and it's probably not a good idea to ask. he takes Rhiv's hand and walks alongside him.
Tseth: He normally liked silence, but this was almost oppressive. He thinks about speaking up, but ultimately decides against it. They get back to the path and Juni and Alex, and everything would be fine. He wouldn’t be comfortable around Rhiv for a while, if ever, but he had to try.
Resh: He moves his hand back to his side, still looking at Parvus.
Parvus: He blinks at Resh, then curls up on his shoulder.
(yeah, well- feelings mutual, METAL MAN)
(I’m stealing that nickname ty)
Salmook: he starts walking a little faster, once they're past the stream. the forest here is a little more familiar. "Where are we going to sleep? What if somebody else is trying to use the path and we're in the way?"
Tseth: He didn’t walk across the stream, instead made the effort of flying over it. Despite any strange looks that might have gave him. After the others walked through the stream, he continued on foot with them. He didn’t seem to be listening to what Salmook said, instead extremely focused on getting back to the path.
Resh: He looks down at Salmook. “We’ll probably just find a spot in the forest, close to the path but not on the path. That way we aren’t in anybody’s way.” And that way no more people get kidnapped.
