"Dunno. You sounded angry." She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Dunno. You sounded angry." She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"You would know if I was angry. You know why you would know?"
"Because you'd turn into some sort of glowing red monster?"
"That's later. But it's because I would stop smiling. When I do that, you've probably pissed me off."
"Ah." She nodded. "Or when you just look bewildered." Like when I came downstairs in my nightgown and you went tomato red.
"That too, but mostly when I'm angry."
"All right, so I'll do my best not to make you angry, then."
"Can I see your other unique thing?" He asked, curious
A mischievous smile flitted across her face. "Let's play Hide and Seek, and then you'll see."
"Sure." He said, noticing her mischievous smile.
"Where?"
"The whole house."
"Fine. Who's the seeker?" He asked, probably already knowing the answer
"Me. Now go hide! I'll give you one minute."
He went and hid in a spot where he hadn't shown her, therefore she couldn't find him; the secret passage. She would never find him here
"READY OR NOT, HERE I COME!" Nyx yelled as loud as she could, before closing her eyes and sending out her field. She could sense everything in the house, every corner and room… and secret passageway.
There.
Silent as a cat stalking prey, she crept through the house and snuck into the secret passage. "Found you!"
"Wait, how?" He asked, confused.
"I didn't show you this, therefore it didn't exist to you yet."
She smiled. "You want me to tell you now, or do you want to hide again?"
"Hide again." He said
"You get one minute."
He hid somewhere where she wouldn't be able to find him, something out of her range; the library. It was so huge by itself that the range of her ability, which I know but he doesn't, wouldn't be able to cover even a 25th of it.
(The library in the house? Or in the town?)
(The house. If it was the town, it would be cheating.)
(Ah.)
Nyx closed her eyes and sent out her field again, reaching, reaching. The energy swept out from around her like ripples in a pond. She could sense the way he'd gone, and, clinging to the energy before it could fade, crept out of the secret passageway, following the energy like a horse follows carrots.
She stopped in front of the massive doors of the library and snuck through. Should she be silent, or should she let him know she was in here? Closing her eyes again, she swept her energy through the massive room, following the quickly fading energy. Unfortunately, it faded before she could get to the end of the trail.
If she could just get him to move…
"I know you're in here!" she yelled, her voice echoing through the enormous space. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!"
"temporal shift…" He whispered, stopping time.
He walked out of the library, moving her to where he was.
"Temporal restoration…" He said, in the bedroom. Two could play at this game.
Time resumed
Nyx scowled. "Up to your old time tricks again, I see," she murmured. She wouldn't make that mistake again.
Nor would she let the energy escape her. Quickly and quietly, she followed the energy trail, but just like last time, it faded fast, and she was stranded in the middle of the house.
Cursing softly under her breath, Nyx sent out her field again and detected him in his room. She snuck through the house and burst into it with a triumphant smirk. "I win."
