"what if you used your powers?" Ellie offered Xander to try
"My powers aren't good for whatever's going on," he admitted, pulling up a wisp of shadow in his hand. "I'm only good at illusion and fighting… and I only do one of those regularly."
"Ok, Xander I have an idea it might be stupid though," Ellie told him with a serious look on her face
"Go ahead. I won't judge," Xander promised, fiddling with his hands.
"I'm going to try and get in her head," Ellie said seriously
"Usually, I would say have at it, but I can't say I advise you to do that right now, for many reasons," Xander warned.
"I told you it was stupid," Ellie said looking at her feet.
Ellie thought or a little while. "What if we could combine powers it that possible." Ellie beamed.
"Doubtful, but I've never tried," Xander admitted, "I just manipulate shadows…"
"Ya, I can help people by entering their mind. Maybe we could combine those powers," Ellie explained
"You think we could?" Ellie asked him with a brave voice.
Evie looked between the two of them. They had no idea what was happening, or going to happen… She wanted to tell them, but Jocelyn forbid her to speak. Not until you let me out! No! So be it. White-hot pain snapped through Evie's head. Her lips begged to scream: they parted, but no sound came out that Ellie and Xander could hear. Jocelyn, stop it! Please! Miss Evangeline, you are my host. You gave me permission, and I can do as I please. It was the biggest mistake I ever made: letting you in my head. I give you power! You give me pain!
Arien folded his arms in front of him.
Ellie ran over to Evie and grabbed her hand. "You can fight her. If I can fight my monsters you can fight yours," Ellie told Evie with encouragement.
Jocelyn's laugh was sharp in Evie's ears. A monster? If that's what she wants to believe…
Arien backed away from everyone else. He wasn't sure what was happening, but he had a feeling something bad would happen soon.
Evie balled her hands into fists. Her face was contorted in a wince. You can't hold out much longer, Jocelyn teased her. I will if it saves lives. Oh, so noble…
"saves lives," Ellie thought. "Evie I can try to help just say the word," Ellie told her still trying to hold her hand for support.
Arien looked back and forth between Ellie and Evie.
"What's going on?"
"She is being controlled by something or someone," Ellie tried to explain.
Xander frowned. "I don't like this…"
He crossed his arms.
"I don't think it's a battle I can fight, either. Sorry I can't help or even understand…"
"Evie if want me to help nod your head. I can try to help the best I can." Ellie tried saying with a confident voice but she was scared.
Arien shook his head.
"You can't use up more of your energy!"
"What, I'm fine. I feel fine. I want to help her," Ellie yelled at Arien. She wanted to help Evie.
"That's not how it works," Xander grumbled, "It can take hours to recover from even the mildest overexertion. You keep doing stuff you're not supposed to do, it's definitely going to be longer. You could seriously hurt yourself."
