"Don't worry, love," Sybil said, "I'm incredibly used to disappointments."
She laughed, but there was no joy in it.
"You oughtta head home, Syb," Ozzie said. "You're smoked."
"Horsefeathers," Sybil insisted, shaking her head. "'m sober…"
Vera cocked her head, eyebrows knitting together in concern.
"I can help you home if you'd like, Sybil," she offered. "I'm quite new to this city."
"That'd be swell!" Sybil exclaimed loudly, clapping her hands together. "Ozzie, be a dear and come with us?"
"If Don'll let me leave early, sure," Ozzie said with a shrug. "Don't hold you breath about it, though."

Valen was quiet, stepping back a little to give the others a little room to talk without a stranger standing over them. He rather wished Ozzie would stay and talk, since he was the only one who had really engaged with him, but of course he understood that Ozzie's friends came before some random stranger.

"Would you like to come with, Valen?" Ozzie asked. "It'd be cruelty to leave you here alone with Don, and I'm sure Vera'll want to explore the city."
Vera gave a slight nod. Her gaze was still trained on Sybil, whose arm was draped around her shoulder. Sybil's fur coat having long been discarded, and Vera was very aware of the contact their skin was making. She hoped no one could pick up on her blush.

(fhshdggsgs I ship them. Vera and Sybil, I mean)

Valen blinked. "Oh. I…only if you're sure you don't mind." He said slowly. "I understand that I'm just a stranger that you don't know all that well."

@HighPockets group

(I ship them too lol)

"I don't mind at all," Ozzie said. "I've met more strangers than friends anyhow." He inwardly cringed at how self-pitying that sounded; he hadn't wanted to come off as pathetic.
"Besides, if we never got to know strangers, no one would have any friends!" he added, hoping to salvage a bit of dignity.
"I'll drink to that!" Sybil said.
I think you'd drink to just about everything right now, Ozzie thought, and then felt a twinge of guilt.

Valen smiled a little, taking a sip of his drink and looking at Ozzie, smiling. "That does sound good, then. Thank you." He looked genuinely happy to be invited along.
