Guinevere growled and let loose a volley of bullets into the tree, piercing through the wood and leaving a baseball-sized exit hole for each shot. The poor tree looked as if a butterfly sneeze would knock it over.

Just for good measure, Scorpio flapped his powerful wings at the tree, knocking it over with a surprisingly strong gust of wind.
Nevihata held his rifle, still in a position ready for battle. He exhaled before answering. “I’ve fought her..it before. She’s..it’s done something similar to give herself weapons, but that.. Do you understand why I called it an it now?”
The tree didn’t leak any of the liquid at all. It seemed Sinistra was smarter than that, and had chosen to flee elsewhere, once she vanished into the tree. However, she was still close by, just waiting.
Stardew rolled her eyes. "I do believe that whatever they were, they're gone now. No need to waste ammo and kill that poor tree. Well?" she asked Nevihata.
Scorpio scanned his surroundings, searching for traces of the creature. He flapped his wings once more, hovering just above the ground.
“I don’t like shifters,” he hissed.
"If I didn't have to reload, I'd strangle you, Space Cadet!" Guinevere reached into a back pouch and reloaded six rounds with a fluid motion. She replaced the blade onto her shoulder and resumed her fighting stance. "Any idea how to fight her?"
“Well, for starters.. it destroys for a hobby. It goes from planet to planet, taking what it sees fit, and usually leaving the planet in ruins. That’s how I came into contact with it, and I stopped it; at least from destroying my home. It tends to underestimate its foes, but now that the lot of you have revealed your weaponry to it, it’ll definitely be more careful in the future. Also,” Nevihata turned to Scorpio, “it’s not a shifter. It’s not even from this reality, as far as I’m concerned.”
“When I fought it long ago I suppose it underestimated me, which is how I won. I don’t think we have that chance anymore.”
Scorpio roared into the sky.
“Show yourself, creature! Fight me!” He lashed his tail and limbs, twisting around midair to see if it would respond to his challenge.
"Fire might be great, but I don't want this entire forest burning down because of one gooey gun moll!"
“Fire doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure it won’t, but if you guys want to try, then go ahead.”
While the others seemed focused on a conversation, beyond them, Sinistra rose from the ground, still in liquid form. She crept under the door and into the house, then sank into the material that the house was made of. She waited.
(OH SHIT)
Scorpio looked disappointed that the creature didn’t accept his challenge, and landed, folding his wings over his spiked back.
Guinevere patted the Scorpon on his back carapace, where the shoulder might be(?).
"There, there, bud. Something tells me she's around here somewhere."
Putting his rifle away, Nevihata turned back to the house. “I’m going back in.”
Scorpio swiveled his eyes to look at Guinevere, mildly irritated that someone other than his son had touched him, and took a step away.
Guinevere sheathed her weapons. "I'm coming, too. Just in case." Her eyes betrayed that she knew something was wrong, but hid her feelings well enough. Almost as if she expected an attack from something that tends to underestimate their opponents.
Scorpio shrugged, (or at least he would have if he had shoulders or literally anything to indicate a head) and followed them near the house. He didn’t quite fit through the doorway.
(I feel as though I should mention that Guinevere's hand cannon is actually SUPER loud, so if you were sleeping before, you aren't now!)
Aiday found a crate and sat on it, tucking her knees up to her chin. "I'll keep the watch." she said. "You go to sleep. I'll be fine."
"I don't sleep. I'll just walk around, I guess." (Was that to Raven? Idk)
Guinevere decided it was best to scan the entire house before thinking about rest or taking watch. Rather than overturn every piece of furniture to look for the slime-woman, the huntress would give a seemingly-cursory glace everywhere she could think of, not making much small talk whenever she let herself into a room unannounced. The house seemed clear, even the creepy basement with naught but a metal shelf and a few cans of beans.
Scorpio circled the outside of the house, looking for any trace of the creature.
Although Sinistra was deep underground at this point, a few feet away from the door when you entered you might notice a black, tar like substance on the floor. There were only droplets.
Nevihata sat back down on the floor in his previous spot. What was Sinistra doing back here? What did it want? He took out some of his weapons and began cleaning some of them.
Foxglove and Trouble bounded to their feet, swords in hand. They clearly shared Stardew's love of a good fight, and they were freshly rested.
Stardew made a series of subtle gestures, and they responded in the same graceful style. This seemed to bring them up to speed, and they both exited the house after they pulled on the heavy woolen coats they had stored in their backpacks.
Meanwhile, Stardew crouched down, having noticed the drops in her scan of the room. How they had caught her eye, she didn't know; it was just second nature for her to treat unusual happenings like it was a static crime scene waiting to unveil their secrets to her.
She glanced over to Nevihata. "These drops weren't here before. Do you think this was a part of her – it – whatever?"
“I don’t like being around here with that thing on the loose. Bye grounders. Don’t get yourself killed searching for it.” Scorpio flapped his powerful dragon-like wings, and flew off into the sky, searching for a better place to rest his wings.
