Runner began to snore lightly, moving his feet every once and a while.
She darted her eyes over to him. "Please no flipping out again. I'm too sore for that."
He smiled slightly in his sleep, rolling onto his back.
She smiled and went back to watching the tournament. It was the Serpents versus the Night Eagles. Uneventful, but interesting to see how water fought against darkness.
After about an hour, Runner's eyes opened slightly and he groaned, raising his head up.
"Nice nap?" She didn't look over at him, watching the intense battle between the top two clans of the school–the Myriad Vanguard and the Bronze Giants. Cinthia and Fassor were going head to head in a heated hand-to-hand battle.
"Mhm…" he sat up, squinting.
She had her head propped up on a fist, watching the TV. "Any good dreams?"
"Not as good as being with you," he said, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
She smiled. "Aw, you're already getting cheesy."
He glanced at the TV. "What, do they show this thing like UFC?"
"Tournaments aren't usually broadcasted, but since War Games are coming up, they're hyping everyone up for 'em," she explained. "Though, only the top five clans qualify for the Games. This week is a chance for those under to show their stuff and knock other clans out."
"Huh. He must have been holding back when he fought me."
"Fassor's an arrogant bitch, but he knows when to pick his fights." She raised a brow at him. "You fought him?"
"Yeah. Clover's the only reason why I didn't kill him."
"Ah. You should've."
"He was trying to recruit me."
She snorted. "He tried recruiting almost everyone in the Vanguard before we joined. The original members literally only joined forces to piss him off."
"He wouldn't take no for an answer, either."
"Typical Fassor." She fell silent, frowning. "You don't have to keep that bullshit job Cin gave you," she suddenly said.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean… you don't have to settle just because of me. I know you only took that job for that reason, and it isn't fair to you."
He shrugged. "I'd trade wandering for you in a heartbeat."
She ducked her head to hide the slight tinge of red creeping up her cheeks. "That doesn't mean you have to take a job that serves absolutely no purpose."
"That just means more time with you." He looked over at her.
