Runner turned to the scream, and Tega pounced, grabbing him by the shoulders and was thrown to the ground, caught completely off guard. Tega swung a fist down at Runner's face, but Runner rolled out of the way and scrambled to his feet.
Ketu, no longer looking like a zombie, stalked towards Tessa as she got to her hands and knees. He grabbed a fistful of her hair and yanked her head back. "I'm going to make you pay for what you did to me," he snarled into her face.
She bore her fanged teeth and spat on him. "Like hell you will."
He growled and tossed her across the roof. She rolled and slammed against the roof, tumbling into a bleeding heap.
I gotta get to her, Runner thought as he ducked under another fist. In his mind, he began to form a plan. Tega's too cocky to expect my dragon form. He thinks too low of me. He backed away from a push kick, rubbing his hands together.
Tessa watched at Ketu smirked and walked towards her. He thinks I'm that weak? She waited until he got close to burst into flames, kicking out at him and scrambling back. She couldn't dismiss her wings in the shape they were in, so she gritted her teeth against the pain and played a life or death game of tag.
Runner changed to his dragon form in a flash of blue light, the tail immediately whipping out and striking Tega across the face. Then, with a roar, he rocketed into the air, twisting and turning as usual. He let out another roar. "Tess! You alright?!"
She dodged Ketu's latest attempt to grab her, tripping over the ceiling shingles but managing to keep balance. "Not at the moment!" She winced as her shoulder started bleeding, the damage to her wings migrating to her back and shoulders the more she moved.
"I'm on my w-" Tega jumped up and grabbed him by the tail, but Runner only smiled. He began rapidly spinning, just like he had when he won the race just last night, and Tega was flung from the disk at ridiculous speed, slamming into a building with the force of a small meteor. Runner then sprinted towards the beach house, his body twisting and twirling like an eel in the ocean.
Ketu saw the incoming Runner and growled, then smiled. "There he is." He lurched towards Tessa, feigning left and latching onto her as she skidded to the right. He wrapped his claws around her neck and brought her close to him. Then, for added effect, reached behind him and grabbed a dagger, thrusting it through her gut. She screamed and thrashed, but he started twisting the dagger and she stopped, body trembling from the pain and more red blood pooling around her feet. Her wings hung limp as she closed her eyes and whimpered. Not again. Not again. Not like this.
The dragon was now ablaze with hellfire, circling the two with obvious rage.
Ketu smiled sweetly. "Aww, isn't that adorable. Coming to your beloved's aide, how heartwarming." He twisted the blade again, causing Tessa to scream again. "Come along nicely and she won't have to suffer." He grinned. "Too much."
"I'm going to rip you limb from limb," Runner growled as he landed and switched back.
Ketu rolled his eyes. "Come now, is that any way to speak to your uncle?" He nudged the blade and Tess's body locked up, ready to face another wave of pain. "Besides, if you attack me, you'll just make her death even more painful." He shrugged nonchalantly. "Well, it's what she deserves, so I don't have a problem either way."
He gritted his teeth, stopping a few feet away from her. He made eye contact with Tess, wondering what to do.
Her eyes were wide and she tried shaking her head. Leave me, she mouthed.
((So… I have an idea for what comes next, but I need to know if you already have someone in mind for Runner's mom.))
He shook his head, then looked up at Ketu. "Let her go. I'll come."
((Just been bullshitting through it, so no, lol
Ketu tightened his grip around Tessa's throat. "That isn't going to happen. She's dying either way."
"Then I'll blow this motherfucking place to the ground. Flatten everything, including whoever else you brought with you."
Ketu laughed. "Oh, you're adorable." He brought his mouth next to Tessa's neck and licked off some of her blood. She squeezed her eyes shut. "Mmm, how delicious." He smacked his lips. "Nice to be rid of that cursed ichor. Hmm, I have a better idea." He grinned, his head still ducked next to hers. "You kill her. As a trial, of a sorts. To prove your worth to your father."
He scoffed at the idea, holding back tears admirably. "You're in-fucking-sane if you think I'm still that idiot Tega."
"My son will do no such thing." A disembodied woman's voice spoke, not quite human in the elegant but malicious way she spoke. Ketu actually seemed to freeze in fear. Tess opened an eye curiously.
He blinked one, twice, three times, then turned around with a dumbfounded expression.
A woman hovered in the air, draped in a black, flowing dress made to show skin. Her appearance was unnerving. Her eyes had a black sclera (the white part of the eye) and iris; a white ring surrounding the iris; white pupils. Her skin was a dull grey covered in black tattoos of small summoning circles and other magical runes. Her hair was as long as she is tall and is black with streaks of white, pulled back to show her pointed ears. She wore clawed full finger rings and a chain headpiece with real gems, as well as decorative armbands, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings.
"Rhianon," Ketu breathed. Tess seemed to tense even more at the sight of the woman.
Runner did nor said anything, staring at the woman.
