He kept his eyes looking forward glancing over at August for a few seconds while listening. "Oh I was just riding my bike trying to find a place to hide and look up at the stars; I rode farther than usual though.", Caesar sighed,"But are you okay? I'm surprised that you passed and can walk pretty well afterwards."
“Yeah… me too,” August actually hadn’t really thought about it. Either it was healing magic or she was unconscious for longer than she thought. She absentmindedly put her hands in the pockets of the shawl she was wearing. To her surprise, she pulled an eye dropper filled with blood out of her right pocket. Somehow, she knew it was her blood. Out of her left pocket was a small bushel of thyme, sage, and lavender.
She shoved them back into her pockets. “At least I came somewhat prepared,” she murmured.
Dewey didn't say too much while the two spoke, just listening. He'd turned back around now, walking forwards, still moving towards the caves. IN all honesty, it had been some time since he had visited the caves. He was curious as to what the visit would bring him..given that Dewey was probably the only person in this group that knew of anything that had transpired in this valley once. He glanced back at the group.
"Well, again, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask," He drifted off, before continuing, "In the meantime, why don't we get to know each other? Seems like the perfect time to do so.." Dewey paused.
"..Like, did you know that I'm not actually immortal?" This was what he was going to say moments earlier. He had thought of a way he could better word things, hopefully avoid confusion - but knowing Dewey, confusion generally followed him, as expected.
Conner stayed silent for a few seconds, his hands shoved into his pockets, craning his neck as he took in the sight of the caves. He'd approached the entrance while the others were talking, and now he was standing still at the threshold between lit and shadowed ground, fiddling with the inhaler in his pocket. He was apprehensive, but a spark of excitement flickered inside of him at the thought of an adventure.
Scale stumbled out of one of the caves, blinking in the sudden light. Any on lookers would see a short 11 year old stumbling over her own feet wearing a simple leather breastplate over a red long sleeved tunic, slightly baggy black pant's a leather boots. Upon seeing the group of people she instinctively moved a hand to the hilt of one of the dagger's hanging from a belt round her waist. She looked behind her into the cave, then back at the people. She seemed confused, extremely confused.
Caesar glimpsed over seeing the eye dropper; the crimson fluid in it made him glance over again. What could that be? Blood? He shook his head, it's not really his concern. Instead, he just smiled,"Yeah it's good to be ready for anything."
He put his hood over his head while listening to Dewey. Not really sure if anything really piqued his curiosity at the moment, he just nodded. This place is so quiet, it's strangely calming to Caesar. Hearing that last bit from Dewey made him slightly confused. "Wait, you're just mortal?", he asked.
Akira raised her eyebrows, but said nothing, humming softly to herself as she walked. In the large pocket of her hoodie, she had some spare change, a lighter, and some mechanical pencils, as well as a pair of earbuds that were tangled beyond repair. She figured that, in this situation, only the lighter, and maybe the pencils, would do her any good.
Conner started and stumbled back at the sudden appearance of the young teenager out from the caves, his trance broken. He put a hand over his heart and let out a shaky breath. "Christ, you scared me. Sorry. Hey, I'm Conner. What's, uh, what's your name?"
Scale looked at him skeptically, "Scale." She looked around her surroundings once more then back to Conner, "If you don't mind me asking, Where am I?"
"We have no clue either," Akira said quietly. "I just ended up here." She fidgeted with the contents of her hoodie's pocket.
"Mm, sort of? The story behind it is kind of long, but I'll shorten it up instead. Basically, a long time ago-" He paused, raising a hand to his face in thought. "No, maybe in the future or something- I don't know… But for simplicity, a long time ago for me anyways, I insulted a Deity. Kind of like a god. Inir or whatever its name was, got real mad at me. And I'm gonna be honest, I kind of deserved it," he shrugged, "I just think the way I got punished for it was a bit drastic. So Inir-" Dewey stops for a moment, upon seeing someone exit out of the caves. He doesn't stop telling his story, but he does watch the girl.
"-Inir decides to bond or whatever the term for it was, link this other cursed Deity to me, and that's the source of my abilities by the way - and send us both back in time, like thousands of years before now, forcing us both to relive the horrors and wonders of human history." Dewey explains.
"So, uh, basically, I've lived through pretty much every major event in human history and fought in a lot of different wars, too. Probably met some of your relatives at some point, I dunno."
(Question. Could I introduce a second OC?)
"Incoming!" A shadow announced its presence by hopping from ledge to ledge down the side of the canyon, and landing on the ground with a 'crack'. That shadow turned out to be a girl, with short turquoise hair and tan skin riddled with scars, wincing in pain.
"That just healed, too." The girl stood back to full height, keeping her weight on her left foot, and patted her side. The blue bag that hung from her opposite shoulder, resting at her hip was still there. She let out a sigh of relief, muttering "Didn't lose anythin'." under her breath.
She looked up at the group. "Oh, hello!"
Scale jumped at the sudden noise pulling out a dagger in a single fluid movement, "Very blue, Very very Blue. This is what I get for telling Azizia she's crazy when talking about multiple dimensions." It was almost sad to see such a violent reaction form one so young.
Caesar turned the flashlight off then started to fiddle with it. His arms were crossed as he paid attention to Dewey. The fact that deities exist or existed surprised him, and also that Dewey managed to insult one too. In a way, he sort of felt bad in a way; to him immortality seemed a lot especially when you're watching the world change with the times. "Interesting, I'm sure you might've met some although I wouldn't know really.", he shrugged.
He took a glance over his shoulder seeing the girl with turquoise hair. Caesar paused,"Hi there, do you need any help?"
"Not really," the girl said, her mind already off her injury. "Just a broken foot, I've suffered worse." She grinned, fiddling with her bag.
"But, where am I? What island is this? We were supposed to be at sea for another week before we got somewhere…" She rubbed her head, sighing. "Shoulda brought a Log Pose."
Unsure what to say, he just slowly nodded his head with a smile. There are things worse than a broken foot, yet he wouldn't really imagine anyone being fine standing with a broken foot. Caesar pulled down his hoodie while letting out a sigh. "This isn't an island, it's land with valleys and caves. I'm sorry."
The girl pouted. "The land must end somewhere, right? Unless… am I on the Red Line?" The girl sighed, throwing up her hands in defeat. "And I thought our swordsman was good at getting lost," she muttered.
"Oh, and, name's Azami. Azami D. Centero, crew member and big sister of the next King of the Pirates."
Caesar simply shrugged,"It does in some parts, but I don't think it really ends anywhere around here; I could be wrong though. Not sure what the Red Line is although I don't think you're on it?" He thought of checking his phone to see then suddenly remembered that there wasn't enough signal for the stupid thing. "Sounds very honorable Azami, pleasure to meet you. I'm Caesar Lee, but you can call me Caesar if you want.", he beamed,"And welcome to our wonderful crew."
Azami raised her eyebrows. "Honorable? Depends how you look at it." She grinned, fiddling with her bag, and pulling out a large snail with some sort of device attached to its back. She pointed it down the canyon, and pressed a button. The snail made a clicking sound, and a small piece of paper started to slide out of a slot in the side of the shell. Azami took the paper and shook it back and forth a few times, and a picture, albeit a grainy one, of the canyon came into view. She opened her bag and returned the snail to its spot in the bag, and pulled out a leather journal.
She flipped to an empty page and tucked the photo into it, putting it back in the bag when she was done. "The crew won't believe this."
Scale put away the dagger hesitantly realizing that these people were probably not a threat. "You have a ship?" She asked Azami her initial mistrust quickly being replaced by curiosity. She moved closer to the blue haired girl, as she talked.
She nodded. "One of the best ships to ever sail the seas. Our shipwright built it from scratch. It has an aquarium, and a kitchen, and there's a room where all the walls are the aquarium, and it has a tangerine grove, and the deck has grass on it, and a tree with a swing!" Azami had a grin on her face. "And it's got a lion figurehead that our captain likes to sit on, and it can fly for up to a kilometer! Even though that takes three barrels of cola, so we can only use it in an emergency. And it has a really nice bathroom, with a shower and a bathtub, and the shower comes from a little cloud! There's a library, too, and it has a submarine that can fit three people!"
Scale smiled a Azami's description, "I don't know what half of those things are but It sounds pretty cool." She found the other's bubbly attitude infectious. "What color is the whole thing, Is it blue like you?" She asked, referring to the other girls hair color.
"Nah, it's mostly warm colors. 'cept for the grass and trees, all of it is, actually. That or wood-colored." Azami grinned. "Even though our shipwright's hair is blue, too.." she muttered under her breath. "But, it's fun to run around and go fishing off of. Then, we can put out fish in the aquarium and cook 'em later!"
