“What trip- I mean, you’re free to explore anywhere pretty much..maybe ‘tour guide’ was the wrong term for it…” Dewey’s voice drifted off. “Most of the valley is easy enough to go through, if you’re talking about that. Just watch out for small pits.”
"Oh, alright- that means I'll be able to go!" Elara's mood lifted, and you could tell. Her voice got excited, her eyes sparkled, and a new energy filled her. She would finally be able to go somewhere exciting for once! Plus, these people seemed nice.
Taking a breath, Conner approached the group. "Um. Hi," he said, his voice shaking. He cleared his throat and continued. "Hope I'm not interrupting anything here…but I overheard some things and it looks like you"–he pointed at Dewey–" know something about this place. So…mind filling me in real quick?" He glanced back at Caesar and jerked his head slightly towards the others.
"This is… kind of exciting, I guess." Akira rocked back and forth on her heels. "Terrifying, yet exciting, you know?"
Clementine continued to look around. She step forward and immediately slipped and fell. She groaned as she stouts back up, clutching her forehead. Look back at the canyon she said, “Where on earth am I?”. She looked around a bit more and yelled, “HELLO!”
"Yeah, it's very exciting," said Jordan, playing with the string of his earbuds. "I'm going. Does anyone else want to come?"
Swaying side to side a little, Caesar had his thumbs in his pockets. His head titled to the right so parts of his hair fell from behind his ear. Momentarily, he bit his lip glancing up at the sky. There wasn't much up there except for the moon. Exhaling, his eyebrows perked up for a second before Caesar's attention was brought back to reality.
He noticed that Conner was staring back at him with a quick head motion. Scrunching his lips together, Cesar shrugged with one hand held out. Sadly, the young man wasn't really listening which is why he has no clue what to say. Feeling bad, he took a few steps to stand next to his friend then rested his hand on Conner's shoulder. "I think this place is abandoned.", Caesar assumed before smirking for a second,"There could be some dangerous weapons or ghosts."
If his senses were working correctly, he heard someone in the distance. Letting his hand fall to his side, Caesar turned around to see if there was anyone there. He took his phone out then held it up while pressing the flashlight like Morse code. "HELLO?", he shouted,"YULYEONG?" Waiting for a second, he kept his flashlight on waiting to see if anyone will come over. Caesar looked back at Conner before turning back seeing a girl. "Oh it's a person, the more the merrier as they always say.", he bowed his head.
Conner bit his lip. "Yep, I guess so." Feeling Caesar's hand on his shoulder, he was grateful for the comforting presence, and smiled despite himself.
(Wow I forgot about this. I'll try to get somethin' up in a bit)
Elara took a deep breath. "I'm going." Inside her head, she silently added, And nothing, not even my stupid illness will stop me. And that's final.
Clementine realized there was someone looking in her direction and started running towards them.
“Well, as I explained before, it’s an abandoned testing field-facility that was previously owned by the government. No longer, though. They left this dirty place years ago. No dangers aside from the usual, falling, tripping hazards. Dust maybe if you have any allergies or problems or stuff like that.” Dewey paused, glancing a bit away from them, further into the valley.
There, there seemed to be a wall of some sorts. Like, a very steep wall of the valley. Fro here, you could only see what seemed to be metal sticking out of it.
“Those,” he pointed, taking a breath, “are the caves. Now, when I say dangers, I met the ones out here. In there, I’m not quite sure what’s in there if I’m being honest. I’m sure the government took whatever they were working with, with them when they left, so it should be mostly safe.” Key word, being mostly. “There isn’t really a map for them, so if you do end up going in there, make sure you remember where you’re going.”
“…Or..” He paused. “Well, maybe not.” He muttered to himself, turning around and pacing. “Sure, sure..”
Turning back around, Dewey finally spoke to the others. “I’m probably the closest to a tour guide you’ll get, so if any of you want to go into the caves AKA the facility, let me know. Or you could stay out here and look around..or you could go in yourself if you wanted to.”
Conner glanced around at the others, his gaze lingering on Elara and then Caesar, before saying, "I'll go. Anyone else?"
Akira stepped forward, dusting off her hoodie. "I'll- I'll go. I've gotta do something anyway- anyway."
"Well," Jordan said. "What are we waiting for?" Then he made his way towards the valley.
Elara didn't hesitate, stepping forward to follow Jordan. As she walked, she marveled at how pretty everything seemed. How perfect that one building in the far distance seemed. Almost too perfect…
(Man this looks interesting)
Akira followed after Elara, looking in awe at her surroundings. "This place- place is oddly beautiful. I think I have painting supplies in my- in my car, too. I should paint it, later."
Conner pushed his hair out of his eyes and followed the small group that has already set out, making sure his inhaler was still in his pocket.
Dewey paused for a moment, glancing at the group then at the others who had already set out. He decided to go with the others who were venturing down into the valley.
“If anyone wants to come,” he called out, “feel free to follow!” He sped up in order to join the ones that were descending into the valley. Dewey hadn’t actually been in the facility that much. And, he didn’t actually recall the place being broken down this much either..if he recalled, there should’ve been a massive structure somewhere, but it seemed that it had gone away too. The only thing he could really recognize was the caves. Which, he just barely knew his way around, but he wasn’t going to say that.
Jordan admired the broken buildings. He had never seen anything quite like it. He wondered what the place had looked like before the ruins.
Clementine ran after the guy who had yelled ‘feel free to follow’, since she needed somewhere to go. She was also hopping there was a shop there. She was still stuck in her muddy uniform.
Caesar glanced over at Conner then nodded,"I'll follow, this will be exciting.", he acquiesced. Without saying anything else, he began to walk along with the group. He didn't look around as they walked, he had this motion that he could get lost. Not that Caesar was on his tippy toes or anything, he just felt better with knowing that most of the group is on the same boat as him.
The last thing August remembered was pain. Pain, and Arabelle’s bloodied face crying over her. That was before everything vanished. When August opened her blue eyes, an open night sky lay before her.
She stood up. A canyon… valley? Something like that lay before her. Somehow, she was not where she remembered being. Her mind grasped at fragments of a life that seemed grow smaller, more faint the more she tried to remember. She shook her head. There was something important she needed to remember. Someone she knew…
She felt it would be futile to try any further, and took to investigating her surroundings. Aside from the strange valley, people were visible a little ways from her. She started toward them, noticing that they were going somewhere. Were they witches too? Probably not, but maybe they could help her. All she had to do was not give anything away. No magic. Nothing that would put her at risk.
