Sarah looked down at the dragon.
"Okay, this is not good."
Sarah looked down at the dragon.
"Okay, this is not good."
Not long after, a streak of purple could be seen in the distance, slowly growing closer.
Sarah quickly grabbed Samual's hand and magicked them to the bottom of the cliff. Sarah whipped out her spell book.
(Do you want me to heal her or..?)
(Yeah, just give enough time for Gloam)
(okay)
Sarah flipped through her spellbook frantically. She wasn't sure if she had a spell to heal dragons. Most dragon-related spells were for killing them
"Why are you trying to help it?! It nearly killed you!"
Finally, the figure was close enough to make out what it was; a lean purple dragon, with sky blue wings, deep purple horns and claws, a sunset gradient going from their neck to her tail, blue spikes on their back and violet fin-like frills behind their ears. They had a long snakelike neck with the tail of a chameleon, long hooked claws and a kind face with leaf green eyes.
Samual pointed at the dragon.
"Sarah, I think we should leave. What if the other dragon thinks we did this?!"
Sarah shook her head.
"No, I'm going to help her, like I said I would."
With a graceful flap of their wings, they landed in front of them, peering over at her face to see if she was okay, catching sight of the wounds on her forearms with a gasp.
Samual tried to pull Sarah away. She shook him off and kept searching her spellbook for something to help.
"Come on, come on!"
Her scales started turning green with hints of dark purple, her tail twining around the others. "Loch?" She asked, gently shaking the blue dragon.
Sarah found a spell that could work. She placed her hand on the dragon and started to sing.
Rays of light
shine through the night
heed my broken plea
bring back life
and bring back breath
to this creature in need
let thy heat
flow through their veins
and make their heart anew.
Rays of light
shining bright
I now call on you!
Their wounds started closing, their breath growing stronger and before you knew it her eyes slowly opened, looking at the blurry purple face in front of them, as everything came into focus she unfolded her wings and wrapped them around the dragon in front of her with a tired smile.
Sarah smiled. Samual just stood there, mouth wide open in shock.
"What?" She muttered out.
"Oh, Samual didn't think there was a spell that could help." Sarah turned and stuck her tongue out at Samual.
"Oh, okay."
"Hey, Loch, should we go find somewhere to set up camp?"
"Sure, I think that's a good idea."
Sarah stood up.
"Well, have a good day!" She waved goodbye and started to walk away. Samual turned to follow.
"Thank you!" The dragon who's supposedly Gloam said, waving back.
Sarah and Samual walked away, in the direction the spell had been taking them.
"Can you still stand?" She asked, getting off of Loch, who sat up and touched the place where her arms had been cut, to find only thin scars that felt as normal as ever.
"Yeah, but I'm a bit sore." She replied as she got to her feet, realizing the bird-like creature was still on the cliff, trying to fly away. "Can you get that for me?" Loch pointed up at it.
"Sure!"
"Be careful, it's mean." Gloam nodded, flapping up and grabbing it with her prehensile tail, handing it to her. Loch happily took it before trotting over to the two and showing it to them. "Look! This is the thing that tried to attack you." She said to Sarah, holding it's massive eleven-foot form by the neck as it fumbled around desperately, not used to having something bigger than it. Its beak was big enough to snap a human's back, and if it caught them off guard and Loch hadn't noticed it, could have flown away with them. Who knows what would've happened next?
Samual stood there, his mouth opening and closing like a fresh-caught cod.
"We are very glad you were with us, dear dragon." Sarah smiled warmly.
"I should say the same to you; you helped me find my… friend." She looked to the side as she said that, scratching her neck, which, opon closer inspection, had slits in it that moved whenever she took a breath.
After quickly regaining herself, she killed the bird with one swift motion and asked "Want some?" As she smiled generously.
"I'm… good, thanks. I brought some food." Sarah reached into her pocket, pulling out a small plastic container. Opening it, she pulled out a small table covered in delicacies. With a wave of her hand, it expanded. Samual and Sarah sat down to eat.
Shrugging, Loch walked away, "Your loss." Sitting under a tree and promptly eating the thing as Gloam had an uncomfortable look on her face and went off to the trees to sun herself with blissful golden scales. I'm glad I don't have those, she found herself thinking as she stared up at the happy Rain dragon, not knowing how disgruntled she looked from another point of view. She kept glancing up at her even as she took in mouthfuls of bird, it was weird, she had this odd look in her eyes, but, as a dragon, it could mean many things.
Maybe they wanted to fly or fight- or… maybe something else entirely?- No, dragon's were vile creatures only driven by bloodlust and greed, it definitely wasn't anything special, plus, they are probably too busy sleeping in a gold pile to care about such things. But what if? What if it was something else?
