Ok catch me writing an essay, not that I haven't done that before…

So, primarily I love Nico for his growth, his well-written (in my opinion) development, his style, and his downright sarcastic personality.

When we first meet Nico, (as you said) he is super cute, he's happy and energetic and the opposite of what we have now. He is so ignorant to himself and the world he is about to endure, Nico displays separation anxiety from his sister which already hints at was is to come. Makes me sad. It also gives a nice hint at what could have caused this (his past, losing his mother and memories AND his entire time period).
As the book series progresses, (titans curse, Bianca's death, the basics) he becomes even more guarded and dangerous. He is completely alone, with nothing to remember of his past, except ya know, that delightful internalised homophobia (thanks Hitler). From happy to sad and angry, Nico goes on his own side journey while Percy sails his own (sails, get it? nvm, ill stop). He seems to accept defeat and not only forgives Percy but loses his anger almost completely, expending all physical and emotional energy for him. That's called Walking Depression another relatable thing Nico brings to the table.

Nico's crush is also VERY realistic, as we find out later on, Nico aided Percy in attempt to show affection (Mrs. O'lEary, Bob, The Lethe, show traveling the statue, saving the original war and more) He has been clearly awkward and blushing around Percy from the start but we were made to mark this off as a crush on Annabeth which will become more powerful for certain readers later on.

Nico is super conflicted and complicated, he longs to belong but refuses to stay put, in a result of his past he doesn't lower his guard from fear of hurt that he ends up probably more hurt then, to begin with. His guard builds with every book, it's obvious of his self-hate and confusion. The poor kid needs a rest from war, death and even himself.

By the second series, he is unrecognisable. With feeble attempts, he tries to build back up (distancing himself, bringing back Hazel aka fake Bianca, disappearing from camp AGAIN). After the heart-wrenching outing scene with cupid, which was super uncomfortable but also powerful and confronting for both him and readers. Mainly for those readers who are too closted or have witnessed anything of mass trauma.

So after gaining Jason (rip) as an uneasy friend, their friendship builds as Jason demonstrates his trust and loyalty for the boy. Then he offers himself up (for Percy) to complete arguably the hardest quest yet, delivering the statue back to America with his powers, this almost destroys him again. So many close counters with death for Percy man. This whole book BOO is amazing for him, he opens up in his chapters, answers questions raised from the first series and we get to see the way he ticks. Plus that bonding with Reyna and Coach Hedge is so good for him ahhhh.

Then, of course, Will freaking Solace. The one and only.

Look, I get it, Will is a background character so we shouldn't be able to ship them so easily. Wrong. Or at least, not completely right. The whole journey of learning Neeks went through was his fear. Supposedly, he knew Will as kids when he first came to chb and he liked him well enough to remember him like three years later, he was then comfortable enough to admit feelings and even date Will Solace within a couple of months to a year. DEVELOPMENT!!!! ( say that word too much here lol). He has gone through enough to find Solace. (ok ill stop the puns now, seriously)

Bottom line, Nico is a sad emo boi who needs to be protected at all costs.

There are certainly more intelligent ways to encourage your opinion, I could find my old geeky reports, but I think I've touched the basics and at least vouched for his persuasion over at least one reader.

Personally, I may be biased as Nico helped me come to terms with my own stuff as a kid, but this was his purpose and its what he has done for others I've spoken too, in this sense, he was well-written. It is certainly clear that the fandom favours him. Rick seemed to take time on this character, it meant something to him too as he spoke about in interviews.

Like no hate bro, but I'm legally (exaggerating here) correct.

@LaniGirl

Yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo you're back! I missed you, my dude!

bro I've been gone too long, miss you too UwU. Also, YES, we need an animated version. I crave content!!

@HighPockets group

So here's what I would do:
Disney is launching Disney Plus or whatever. RR's books are Disney-Hyperion. They do a show, one season per series with however many episodes necessary (it could be like Steven Universe where there's a lot of episodes, but longer ones than SU's). It's animated, so you don't need to worry about child actors aging up too much between live-action movies (not really an issue with series 1, but it would be very obvious in HoO) or finding a ton of extras with blonde hair and grey eyes to be Athena's kids, for example. It's flashy, colorful, and has a fairly realistic yet not uncanny valley animation style. You don't need to deal with shoddy CGI monsters and effects, the cast has their iconic looks that might be hard to capture with or come off as tacky on real people (Hazel's cinnamon hair, Alex's heterochromia, Hearth's white hair, Percy's exact eye color, etc.).
Maybe even branch into Rick Riordan Presents eventually.
Idk just a though ig

bro email rick this is a well-planned idea and I need it in my life

@galaxyunicorn-is-in-love-with-starry

Anyone else think about what cabins their characters would be in?

I haven’t really before but here’s what I just thought of
Liam: Apollo
Emma: Athena maybe
Kam: Hunter of Artemis
Lia: possibly Iris or Apollo?
I’m not sure about the others

@Pickles group

I think mostly I just wasn't a fan of the Roman mythology part, cause I also wasn't a fan of the son of neptune one. He was just…meh, I guess

I mean I feel that, he was kinda a copy Percy and heaps of people didn't dig it mainly cuz Percy is the og baby.

Have you read all the series? Jason really progresses but I guess you have to be looking for it, I really loved him but probably due to his leadership and treatment of Nico more than anything else. He was a really great guy tbh.

But I mean, we're all greeks at heart cuz of the og series so I get it…

@Pickles group

I've read pretty much everything except the last one or two books, I think, of the heroes of olympus or whatever that one was called, and the last one and a little more than a half of TOA
I just really didn't like the way the Roman camp was set up. It confused me and I didn't think it was as fun, but it made sense it would be that way 'cause the whole being Roman thing. If that makes sense

@LaniGirl

nah bro i get it, that was literally the whole Roman idea haha, i kinda liked their strictness and accuracy tho? tbh it's more my type. Still, love chb tho.

Yeah u really had to of read the whole series to adapt to Jason, yeah you probs didn't even get to the Nico scenes (main reason Jason earned my respect) soooo Ig you don't really know him.

I'm an actual PJ nerd so I've over analyzed each character so its kinda hard not to love em all
