Silver swallowed the bite in her mouth. "Um… don't bother Ben right now. He's…" she grimaced. "He's talking to Gabriel. Or… at least he's looking for Gabriel."
Miki laughed. "'Looking for' is definitely more accurate. Your creepy batman could be anywhere."
Silver glared at her. "Don't call him names like that, Miki."
Looking over to Silver, Cage nodded. “Oh! Okay. I’ll leave him alone.”
He glances between the two girls as Silver snaps at Miki, and keeps his mouth shut.
"Okay he's not creepy. But he is a batman." Miki said.
Silver nodded slowly, a tiny smile hovering over her lips. "Yes. He is my batman."
Cage still looks between the two of them, almost expecting them to yell and argue. But they don’t.
“Why are Gabriel’s teeth… pointy?” He asks. “Is that normal?”
Silver nodded. "I can't get much out of Kissa or Gabriel, but it's normal for them to have pointy teeth. They're a different race; they're not human. They had the wings and stuff before they got kidnapped by the bad guys."
"So he's a vampire batman." Miki corrected.
Silver grinned. "Yes, he is."
"Oh my word, you like him BECAUSE of his vampire teeth???" Miki cried.
Silver's cheeks turned red. "Yes." She said again, shyly.
Cage gasps. “I didn’t know they were always like that! Woooooooah. Where did they live? Are their teeth pointy for a reason? Oh oh are there more people with wings??”
He bounces over to Silver, his eyes big.
Silver shrugged. "Aside from biting people, I don't know. But Gabriel's tendency to bite is a natural thing about them. I think. It's so hard to get him to talk at all and Kissa usually avoids having legit conversations with me. I have no idea where they came from but I imagine there are more somewhere."
Miki glanced at the phone and saw it had a minute left. "My arms are already burning."
Cage stares in awe. “I’m gonna ask Kiss so many questions. This is amazing.”
The alarm goes off and Cage jumps. “Ah! Okay, my turn!”
"Please do. And if you get her to talk, tell me what she says." Silver said.
Miki handed the spoon and bowl to Cage and collapsed on the floor in front of the couch. "My arms will never be the same again."
Silver smiled down at her. "Yep. And you only have 55 minutes left to go."
Cage starts to stir. “Ugh, I’m already dying.”
Miki groaned from the floor. "Omo wait until you're at the four minute mark. That last minute is like an hour long."
"You do realize that odds of Ben having an ice cream machine around somewhere is pretty decent, right?"
Cage pauses stirring. “Actually I never thought of that. Where would he keep it? I don’t wanna kill my arms like Miki did.”
"Well THANKS." Miki yelled. "Why couldn't we think of this five minutes ago??"
"Text Vi and ask her if she knows if he has one. Or ask her to ask him." Silver said.
Cage picks up his phone, texting Violet.
“Sorry, Mik. Technically Silver thought of it.” He shrugs. “I don’t want to die today.”
Miki gave him a thumbs up. "It's okay. I got that covered already. I'll die, you finish the ice cream, deal?"
Violet walks down the stairs, waving. “I don’t know if he has an ice cream machine. He probably does. But I think he’s talking with Gabriel right now.”
Cage sighs. “You wanna stir?” He offers her the spoon. She takes it with a smile.
“Alright. Only for a little while though.”
Silver finished her lunch and carried her dishes to the sink. "Best mom ever." She said, passing Vi. "Don't let them keep you there forever."
"Cage!" Miki cried, jumping up. "Let's look in the garage and the attic just to be sure."
Cage nods. “Yes yes let’s go!” He runs up the stairs.
Violet sighs. “Oh goodness. This is hard.”
Miki raced up the stairs after him and pulled the ladder down that lead to the attic. "When was the last time we were up there?"
Silver tidied up the kitchen, hand wiping the counters while the dishes and things seemed to straighten themselves. "Yeah, it needs to be beat for at least an hour. I can take a turn when you're done."
Cage stares up. “Uhh, I haven’t been up here for a few months at least.” He climbs the ladder and peers into the attic. “Oooh, it’s not too bad. There’s a lot of blankets up here though.”
Violet continues to stir. “An hour? Goodness. Why did they think this was a good idea?”
Miki stood at the bottom and put her hands on her hips. "Are there spiders?"
Silver grinned. "I don't think whether or not this was a good idea ever factored into their planning."
Cage climbs the rest of the way up. “No, actually. It looks like somebody has been up here recently. OH MY WORD” he shoots back down the ladder, gasping for air. “DONT GO UP THERE.”
Violet chuckles. “Probably not.”
Miki almost screamed as he scrambled back down. She grabbed him, her face white. "What is it???" She asked. "Are there spiders???"
Silver finished cleaning the kitchen and grabbed a book before flopping on the couch. "Let me know when your arms are dead."
Cage, breathing heavily, shakes his head. “There’s a live raccoon. A LIVE ANIMAL. WHY. BEN I THOUGHT THIS HOUSE WAS SECURE!” He yells the last part down the stairs.
Violet goes to speak, but jumps at Cages voice. “Goodness, What is he talking about?”
"WHAT." Miki screams. "No way, Cage. Ben would never–" she climbed up the ladder to see for herself. "Cage, it's super dark up here. Are you sure…" her voice trailed away. "Why are there three bags of dog food up here?"
Silver closed her book and flew up to the balcony. "Yo. I thought you two were looking for an ice cream–"
"AAHHHH" Miki's shriek cut her off as Miki fell down the ladder. "THERE ARE LIKE FIFTY SQUIRRELS UP THERE."
