Felix got into the drivers seat, started the engine and took the car out on the driveway. He drove faster than he had ever done before, he couldn’t get Zach out of there fast enough. No one seemed to be following them, but he wasn’t sure. As they got out on the highway he looked over at Zach. The other boy seemed… almost paralyzed.
”Hey, Zach? Um… what’s going on? Are you okay?” Felix reached out to touch his shoulder with his hand, keeping the other one on the steering wheel. He was worried. Like, really worried. He had never seen Zach like this before.
"Yeah. Mhm." Zach responded, finally setting his feet down. Just the small interaction with his mother since he'd escaped had plunged him back into don't-talk, just-nod, no-expression, full-of-fear mode, and he was just now starting to recover. He drew in a shaky breath and leaned into his hand, fear still in his eyes. "God, how I hate her. I'm so sorry."
Felix leaned over as far as he could without letting go of the steering wheel. He put his arm around Zach’s shoulder and hugged him tightly, kissing his forehead softly as he spoke. ”You don’ have to be sorry for anything,” he mumbled. ”It’s not your fault that she’s crazy. It’s okay. We can make it, together. Okay?” He looked into Zach’s eyes. Felix saw the fear in them, and hated that there was nothing he could do about it.
"O-okay," Zach stuttered quietly, looking ahead at the road. "Let's just get back to a motel or something, okay? Just a…small one for tonight," He admitted, speaking softly. He knew what was going to happen soon after he'd gotten over the fear - the things his mother could do to him were endless, and he wanted to be somewhere secure before they happened.
”Do you…” Felix hesitated for a second. ”Do you want us to sleep in the forest tonight? She won’t look for us there,” he said quietly.
Zach nodded slowly, glancing over to Felix gratefully. "That's…that's a good idea," He responded just as softly. "Thank you."
Felix nodded, giving him a soft kiss on the lips. He wanted to make sure he was okay. He probably wasn’t, but… Felix wanted to do everything he could to make him feel better. ”Okay. The forest it is, then.”
(I’ll have to sleep now if I am going to ever wake up tomorrow… bye!)
(Hi! Also that was one hell of an escape plan XD)
(okay, byeee!)
Zach smiled a little, the first time he'd done so in a couple hours. "Thank you. So much," He responded softly as the car came to a stop at the side of the road. Zach shakily opened the car door and stumbled out, a little weak in the knees now. Jesus christ, what had she done to him?
(I know, right? Best escape plan ever…)
”It’s okay.” Felix stayed in the car. ”I need to drive a bit farther into the forest, so that they won’t see the car. Can you try to find a good spot to camp?”
"Yeah. Mhm. Yeah." Zach pushed himself off of the car, and turned within a couple steps of walking with a slight ruffle. He looked back at Felix, whining a little, before padding off slowly into the forest.
(I see u is on and I ain't wanna push you but I really sorta love this rp soooo bump)
(Yeah sorry I’ve had my hands full with school and that dam cake but give me a minute)
Felix hated having to leave him again, even though it was only for a short while. But he had to find a way into the forest that the car could take. He drove about half a kilometer along the edge of the woods. Suddenly he saw a small opening, wide enough for the car to go through. A narrow path lead into the forest. Felix drove into it, looking for the familiar streaks of fur that was Zach.
(no you're fine)
Zach looked back at him every now and then, making sure Felix could still see him. As soon as the car stopped, he bounded up to it, not wanting to be alone again, not now at least. He whined for a moment, and then turned, with some struggle.
”Hey.” Felix jumped out of the car and walked over to Zach, taking his hand as casually as ever. He didn’t even blush from it anymore, it just felt so normal. So good. ”So, what did you find?”
"Hey." Zach smiled weakly at him, still not completely over the encounter. Who would be? He knew it would just get worse over the next couple hours, but he wasn't going to mention it until it came. He squeezed Felix's hand for comfort, then pointed a little farther into the woods. "There's a little clearing over there that would be nice."
As Zach tried to walk towards the spot, Felix stopped. He held him back gently. ”No. Wait.”
"Hm?" Zach looked back at him, stepping back towards him. "What is it?" He couldn't let Felix know how much she scared him, let alone how much she affected him. Just stay calm.
”You are obviously not okay,” Felix said in a soft and gentle voice, tilting his head a bit. ”I don’t want you to feel bad. Just tell me what to do, and I’ll do it. I want to help you.” He couldn’t stand seeing Zach like this. He wanted his sunshine to shine, not feel like hiding in a corner.
"Well…" Zach looked away for a moment before looking up at Felix. He closed the distance between them and went to hug him tightly, gripping his hands together behind Felix's back.
"It's only going to get worse from here," He whispered, knowing it was true.
