"Alright." Zach leaned back and set the donut box in the backseat, twisting back around to settle. He glanced over to Felix periodically, humming the same tune from before.
"Alright." Zach leaned back and set the donut box in the backseat, twisting back around to settle. He glanced over to Felix periodically, humming the same tune from before.
”What’s that song?” Felix asked. ”I… I feel like I have heard it somewhere, but I can’t figure out where.”
"I'm not exactly sure what it is." Zach admitted, glancing down at his ribbon. "I've heard it before, though. Probably a nursery rhyme or something."
Felix saw Zach looking at his ribbon, but he didn’t ask about it again. He had his own secrets and Zach had his. He started the car and immediatly felt calmer as he heard the roaring sound of the engine. He drove out of the parking lot and out on the highway. As the speed increased Felix opened a window and felt the cool wind against his face as he leaned out a bit. Since there was no other cars around them he closed his eyes for a second. He then smiled at Zach, feeling like no words were necessary at the moment.
Zach looked over, surprised, and then grinned at him. "This is great. Honestly, I haven't been in a car for so long."
”I honestly wouldn’t know what to do without my car,” Felix admitted. ”I don’t know how many nights I have spent in it out somewhere on the highway when my parents have been too much to deal with.” He speeded even more.
"Yeah, I get that. It actually sounds really cool." Zach sighed and smiled. "Much better than sleeping in the god-loving forest."
”I thought you liked that,” Felix said. ”At least I think I would like it. A bit like camping, huh?”
"You'd probably like it, for sure." Zach admitted, shrugging. "It's just, packs and all. It makes me feel a little weird being a singular wolf sleeping on my own in an open forest, you know? Like, if I'm gonna sleep in the forest at all, let alone as a wolf, I want some company. Yeah?" He turned to Felix, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
”…I could be your company,” Felix mumbled, blushing.
(Bye now I gotta sleep… see ya later!)
(alright, get some sleep!)
Zach grinned, giggling a little. "You sure? You'd do that?"
”Yeah.” He blushed. ”Not sure how it would work though since I’m just a simple, needy human being and there are no beds or anything like that in the woods, but… yeah. I would do that.”
Zach giggled again, looking over at him. "We would find something. But seriously, thank you. It'll probably happen anyways."
”Yeah.” He turned on the car radio and flicked the button until he found a good song. ”But right now… let’s just ride?” He started humming along to the song.
"Yeah." Zach leaned back in his seat, glancing between Felix and the outdoors, both of which were very compelling, he thought.
Felix started to sing along. He blasted the music from the stereo. It was See You Again by Charlie Puth ft. Wiz Califfa, a personal favorite of his. Felix actually sang pretty well. He slayed the rap part and took the high notes with perfection.
Zach grinned, looking over at Felix. "You're pretty good," He noted.
”Thanks!” He laughed. ”Oh, I know what we can do! Let’s be famous singers and get a lot of money and tour the world!” He joked.
Zach laughed along with him. "I mean, I can't sing. But I could be the producer!"
It felt good, just driving along an empty road with cold morning air flowing through the slats in the windows, and the junky car stereo on and Felix singing along and both of them laughing.
”Yeah! And you can write the songs! Do you play any instrument?” Felix liked this idea. It felt good just imagening a future where things didn’t suck. Even though it would never be real.
"Um…" Zach thought for a moment. "Oh! I know how to play the drums, if that counts." He brightened, turning to Felix.
Felix laughed. ”You know, you are really cute when you are excited.” He leaned over and kissed Zach’s cheek. He tried not to care about the voices. If the voices were all negative and caused him to have panic attacks, then he would rather be with Zach with his sunny smile and bright view on everything.
Zach giggled again. "You know what? You too."
”Than-” Felix started, but then the refrain came on on full volume and of course he could not finish his sentence, he just had to sing along.
