Alarms start to blare once the door has been unhinged and the windows knocked out.
Gabriel snaps his attention towards the noise, tightening his grip on Kissa’s hands.
Now.
She hesitates, swallowing.
We’ll be hurt.
He looks back to her. “I can’t unlock the door, you have the key.”
She lets go of his hands, walking forward and slowly unlocking the door. She closes her eyes, then opens it.
“He’s asleep.” She tells the guards. “I’m going to stay and care for his wounds.” They nod and walk off.
She opens the door completely, turning around in the doorway and making her feathery wings visible behind her.
“Will you come?” He asks.
She nods. “Just go.”
——
Violet nods, “for now at least. But we want to make it there fast.”
Silver waited until the electricity had calmed to smaller bursts and the glass had settled, then gathered all the broken shards from the ceiling and the windows and brought them to the center of her room. Hovering in the air, she pointed all the sharpest edges toward the door and created a wall in front of herself.
The guards outside her cell yelled into their radios, calling for backup and reporting what she was doing. They pointed their guns at her through the door.
"Stand down, Bird!" one of them called to her.
Silver slowly walked out of the bathroom, approaching the door. As she moved, the field of glass in front of her moved forward as well.
"Make me." she whispered.
“You’re going to have to lead me.” He states, walking down the hall hand in hand with Kissa.
She shakes her head. “I don’t know where she is downstairs, she’s just down there.”
She’ll be easy to find.
They head down the flight of stairs, the sound of guards running down the halls to stop the outbreak.
Both the guards' radios crackled, orders and questions pouring in. Silver kept approaching the door, and when she was within a few yards, she snatched one of the radios out of their grip and pulled it through the bars. "This Silver." she said, speaking into the radio. All activity went silent. "By all means, do come join us." she crooned. "We're having such a lovely time down here." And still holding the 'speak' button, she fling her wall of glass through the bars of the door. The guards screamed, dropping their weapons and trying to protect themselves. Silver dropped the radio and searched the guards for keys to unlock her door.
Gabriel speeds up, letting go of Kissa's hand, and she follows closely behind.
He stops at the sight of the broken hallway windows and stares at the door way on the left that led to the room attached to Silver's.
My anklet.
He turns to Kissa.
"My anklet, can you get it off?"
She shakes her head. "Airrow can."
He glares. Cause that helps.
He turns back towards Silver. "Can the guards?"
She shakes her head again. "Only Airrow. The guards can let the others out, but Airrow keeps us."
Men start to flood the hallway, coming from basically every direction, but not as many as last time.
The others
Kissa's words ring in his head and her turns, looking into another doorway through which he can clearly see a small, sitting figure on the far side of the cell, shaking.
The others
Silver searched through every pocket of the two guards and cursed under her breathe when she found no key. Swiftly she scanned through the shards of glass at her disposal and tried each promising one in the lock, but none of them worked. Abandoning the glass, she turned her mind to the inside of the lock. She had moved objects before, maybe she could mentally move the pins and tumblers in the lock and let herself out. The chaos and noise of the guards converging toward her tore at her focus and she had to start over again and again.
Gabriel and Kissa disappear instinctively, the guards running right past her.
The guards reach the cell, looking right through Silver. "She's not here! Get men outside and in the halls!"
Kissa nods towards Gabriel.
Quick thinking.
The guards disperse, none staying behind.
I can do this.
He closes his eyes and inhales, then approaches the cell, peering into her eyes shyly.
"Silver?" He whispers quietly and as softly as he can manage.
(are the guards on the ground knocked out?)
______
Violet pulls the car up next to the side walk and Cage starts to bounce, waiting for the vehicle to come to a stop before he jumps in, pulling Leo and Shadow along.
"I'm go glad you came! I was super worried. What happened to Ben's house? Did they catch anyone? How's Ben? Is everyone o-"
Violet puts up her hand. "Please, Cage. Breathe for a second."
He nods. "Alright. I should save the questions for Ben anyways."
She starts to drive again, turning around and heading back out towards the countryside.
Cage slowly peers over the side of Miki's chair.
"…hi."
Silver froze as the men shouted about not seeing her. Barely daring to breathe, she held her glass still and watched them run away.
What–
But then Gabe came around the edge of wall into her vision. The glass dropped to the floor as she released it, sounding like tinkering rain all around her.
"Gabe?" she whispered. "What are you doing here? You were upstairs– you were hurt. How did you–" She grabbed the bars and reached for him, remembering that he had been bleeding and crying. "Are you okay? What did they do to you?"
–
Miki turned and flashed a smile at him, wiggling her fingers in a wave. "Hey, kid."
I'm fine. Did they hurt you?
He looks her over, his brow furrowed, then turns to the lock on the barred door. He studies it for a moment before turning to Kissa.
She walks forward, giving Silver a disgusted once over, then glances down to the lock. "I only have your key." She states, handing it to Gabriel. "I don't think it will work on that."
He swallows, trying the key. But it wont go in all the way, much less turn. He closes his eyes and takes a breath. "We need her out. They'll be back up here soon." He quietly states, his voice dry and scratchy.
Kissa looks back up to Silver. "Help me." she demands. She focuses on the lock.
Cage smiles. "Who're you? You remind me of someone we used to know because of your red hair. I like it."
(WELCOME BACK ROCKY!!!!)
(Feel free to jump in/have your characters do things :D They're in the backseat of the car with Cage and Violet is driving while Miki is in shot gun)
(So glad you're here!)
Silver frowned when she saw Kissa, but realized she was helping Gabe and held her tongue. They would probably have some words about Kissa's attack later, once they were safe. She nodded and closed her eyes, feeling her way inside the lock again, finding each tumbler and figuring out how to make them move correctly.
–
"I'm Silver's sister, Miki." Miki said, holding her hand out to shake Cage's. "And you're Ben's brother?"
Kissa glares at the lock and it pops, the door creaking outward.
Gabriel exhales, evidently having been holding his breath. "Let's leave." He takes Silver's hand ever so gently, slipping his freezing fingers between hers. He feels the blood on her palms and glances down to her hand, then back to her face.
Are you okay?
Kissa grabs his other wrist and pulls him forward. "Let's go."
Cage beams shaking her hand. "Yeah! Isn't he great?"
Violet bites her lip, holding in a laugh.
"I'm fine." Silver said, squeezing his hand. The chill from his skin seeped into hers. "Come on, we have to get out of here and clean you up." she tugged him along, following Kissa.
–
Miki pressed her lips together for a second, her gaze flitting to Violet. "Yeah. Yeah, he is. You got a pretty great brother, Cage."
He nods and follows Kissa, letting her drag him through the hall and up two flights of stairs to stand on the roof again.
Men walked around on the top occasionally looking over the side.
Kissa turns to Sil with a finger to her lips, mouthing 'Don't Speak'.
She lets go of Gabriel's wrist and bends down, examining his anklet.
Cage sits back, still smiling. "He's amazing."
A smile crosses Violets lips and she ever-so-slightly shakes her head in amusement.
Silver nodded and watched the guards around them, keeping an eye on their movements. The wind picked up, high above the city as they were, and Silver moved to stand between Gabe and the wind. She cringe as she saw the cuts and blood still on him. No doubt he still had shards of glass embedded in his skin. Silver cursed herself and her carelessness; he probably wouldn't have been hurt at all if she'd been smarter about their escape attempt.
–
Miki hid her smile and took a deep breath to keep her composure. "So." she finally said, turning around in her seat to keep talking to him. "I hear all you guys are special and stuff. What do you do?"
Kissa stares hard at it and it flickers a little, making Gabriel flinch. She looks up to him mouthing 'sorry'.
Airrow bursts through the door onto the roof with 4 more guards, angrily. "How can she just escape? Did you idiots even lock the cell?" A guard goes to answer, but Airrow interrupts, "I don't care, just get Kissa up here now. I want to know what her brother told her." two men nod and head back downstairs.
Airrow walks to the edge of the roof, glaring out.
Kissa stands up by Gabriel. "He has the key." She whispers. Gabriel nods.
He'd notice me, though.
She rolls her eyes, whispering again, "I'll get it." And before he can grab her arm she's already gracefully and carefully walking towards Airrow.
Gabriel tenses up.
Be careful.
Cage shrugs. "I'm not great. All I've really figured out how to do is move water a little and freeze it. Ben's really good with his though. He has heat and fire. I wanted him to cook us a ham for Thanksgiving to see what would happen but he didn't want to."
Silver sucked in a breath and put her hands on Gabriel's arms; whether to support him to keep herself still she didn't know. She could feel the key on Airrow's belt, but she didn't dare try to help Kissa. She didn't have such a fine control over her abilities to attempt something so delicate and dangerous.
–
Miki burst out laughing. When her peals died down, she unlatched her seat belt and turned all the way around, sitting cross legged and backward in her seat to look at Cage. "Oh, my goodness, that would be awesome though! Has he ever cooked anything? That would be so cool to be able to cook stuff with your brain."
Kissa inhales, holding her breath silently, and ever so gently takes the small usb shapes key from his belt. He turns his head to the side, glaring. Before he has a chance to move, she takes five quick steps back and he feels the air behind him- right where she’d been standing. She turns around and heads back to Silver and Gabriel, bending down and sliding it into the anklet. She catches the anklet before it hit the ground and hands it to Gabriel who slips it in his pocket.
“We have to fly. At least a mile, Gabriel. Can you do it?” She whispers.
He nods, inhaling and standing straighter. Just the thought made his lungs burn, but he was going to do it.
Cage grins. “He cooks a lot but he never uses his element. He says we shouldn’t use them much, for safety.”
Violet nods. “Which is right.”
Cage nods back to her, “Yeah I know, but that doesn’t mean it’s not boring. Anyways, I was thinking he could like at least try to cook with it since we’re in the house and no one would see. Where is Ben?”
Silver let out a sigh as Kissa got away safely. "You can do it, Gabriel. I'll help you. Come on." She whispered, letting go of him and stepped to the edge of the roof, giving her wings a good stretch to get ready.
–
Miki nodded. "Yeah that does make sense. It's good that I can't do anything special cuz I'd have no self control. We left Ben at a cabin we're hiding at."
Leo also chipped in “ my name is Leo I have power over electricity and this is shadow” he pointed at Shadow who was looking out the window “ he has power over air and when he focuses really hard he can even turn into it for a few minutes”
Gabriel and Kiss walk to the edge, hand-in-hand, and slowly spread their wings. He takes a deep breath and stares out at the cold, rainy air.
It's fine. I can do this.
Kissa gracefully steps forward, letting her wings catch the air beneath her quietly, then raising herself to the roofs level.
Gabriel looks to Silver, "you first." He mouths.
Cage goes to reply to Miki, but turns his attention to Leo and Shadow. "Yeah, these are my buddies! They're super cool by the way. Leo tried to help me learn more of my powers earlier." He looks to Violet. "Wait, we're staying in a cabin?"
Violet purses her lips. "No, not really. It's more of a farm house. In the country, off the maps." She looks over her shoulder to Cage only for half a second. "You've been there."
Silver gave him a look, knowing flight would be agony for him in his current state, but they didn't have the time or the safety it would require to argue. Finally she nodded and crouched, spread her wings, and jumped off.
–
"Hey hey." Miki waved to them too, propping her chin on the corner of her seat. "Wow, electricity would a cool power to have."
Gabriel steps back and takes a look around for a moment.
there's still so many inside.
Can I help them?
Irritated, Kissa motions for him to come. And with that he silently runs forward and jumps into the air, catching the wind with the stretched, bleeding skin of his wings.
(cuz he has bat wings)
Kissa grabs his arm once he's in reach. "Only a mile, okay? We've got this."
He nods, wincing a little from the icy wind brushing over his cuts.
I'm fine, Kiss.
(Waiting till Rocky replies to skip forward and get them back to the house.)
Silver circled them, not having so much fine control, until they weren't so close to the buildings anymore. Then she dipped under Gabriel, to the opposite side as Kissa, and beat her wings in sync with his to help support his flight and keep him in the air.
