@andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) Hey andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer), can you make it where we’re able to edit our profile banners? I think this would be really cool! ^^ (Also I really love that analogy, can I use that sometime?)
Could you make it so you can resent your template(s) back to the original, I changed mine a bunch and now I don't like it but I don't see any way to properly set it back to how it was.

I'm currently still trying out Notebook.ai. It's great software and the linking is really powerful. I was able to create a bunch of content very quickly. Notebook.ai is one of the only software options that can manage the writing, worldbuilding, and linking aspects very well so I appreciate that.
One big improvement I could use is the ability to add long-form text fields with rich text. There are open-ended questions that might benefit from long descriptions such as "What are the strengths and weaknesses of this race?" I attempted to add a long description with a bulleted list in one of my answers and the formatting is not great.
More robust formatting in the "document" section would also make it easier to put my manuscript there (e.g. font size, headers 1-6, document templates)

There is actually a way to do rich text already. For pages, the rich text uses rules very similar to reddit's markdown rules. The only thing I noticed is that when giving the first word or phrase of a bullet point additional formatting (such as making it bold or linking to another page), you need to add an additional space at the very front or else the text will be on the line below the bullet point when you actually go to view the page.
As for documents, you can make something rich text by highlighting the text you want to edit, then right-clicking it - a bunch of options will pop up, and you just click the one you want. I don't know if there's font sizes or templates yet, but there are definitely headers and such already.
Anyway, hope this helps!
idk if this has been suggested before or not, but possibly make forum notifications visible when you check notifications under the worldbuilding or writing tabs of the site! Also going to bump the previous suggestion to change profile banners. Maybe have the ability to link social media pages to our profile (twitter, Instagram, youtube, etc). The last suggestion is suuuper tiny but if you could add a "student population" prompt to the "schools" template.
also: this site is amazing!! I've been a paid supporter on WorldAnvil for a few years but the way it is set up is confusing and often frustrating, so I cancelled my subscription and re-discovered this site to use instead. I'm still transferring world data to my new Notebook account and after only a week I love this place enough to subscribe for full access! y'all are doing phenomenally so far and I can't wait to see how far this site goes. :)
Hi @andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer), could we have the ‘new page’ button that used to be at the top when we entered a new page again, please? We used to have it in every category but it was removed in an update a while ago. It would really help so we didn’t have to go back to same category and wait fro it to load again every time time we wanted to create a new page while in a different page.
@TheColourfulCraftyGemstone there's a little plus sign on the bottom right of the screen now, if you hover on it you can select a new page to create! It isn't generally visible on mobile, though, so if you usually use mobile than that could be an issue
Oh! That's awesome, I didn't know it did that, I just thought it was another way to take you to the category. Thank you for letting me know!
Yeah no problem!
Hey @andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) ! I love your website so much, massive thanks for making it! My only requested feature is that when you mention another entity in a page, you can change the displayed text for the link. So instead of it showing up as the entity's name in 'view' you could possibly change it to display other text. I hope this makes sense lol, I can elaborate more if it doesn't. Thanks again for creating such a great platform :)
Hey Henry, thank you for the kind words!
That makes sense! Since pages support Markdown, you can actually customize the text for a link by doing links manually. It'd look like this:
[the text you want your link to be](https://www.notebook.ai/plan/characters/10881)
Obviously this isn't as handy as the @-mentions for pages, but it's a way to change the displayed text for a link right now. I'll add customizing link text to @-mentions to the to-do list though! :)
Ah I didn't know about that feature! I can use that. Thanks andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)! :)
i included this in my feedback form already but i got really excited and wanted to bump the suggestion! I really like the new collections feature and i'm stoked to see the addition of a more explicit system of organisation. I was wondering if it would be possible to expand upon that and make it possible to have folder-within-a-folder situations with collections (ie. a collection of cultural lore stored within a collection of various aspects of that culture as a whole). so far i'm loving the new addition!
@vibesofeuphoria That's a great idea! I have a lot planned for collections, but I hadn't considered nesting them (and/or nesting them within folders or vice versa) until I saw your feedback. Definitely seems doable in a feature release focusing on them, so I'll keep it pinned to the to-do list! :)
I had this idea the other day.
When we tap/click on a page, it comes up with the name of the page and how long ago since it was updated but nothing else, it’s just blank. I was thinking that maybe it could show more information on there? Like the description, other names, the type field that most of the categories have that suggests things while you’re writing it in. Kind of like an overview of the overview. Tags and universe wouldn’t be necessary since we can already organise pages by those.
Here’s an idea that was partly inspired by @TheColourfulCraftyGemstone’s idea above. So, with the tab that pops up on the pages with the name and ‘when lasted edited’ date, what if there was something there that you could click on and you could change just the name of the page. I’m notorious for changing names a lot, lol, and it could simplify having to go through a dozen different pages just to change the name. So yeah, just a little idea for the heck of it.
Don't know if this has been suggested…the ability to replace/re-upload an image instead of having to delete the whole thing ….and the ability to organize/rearrange images in certain order
I don't know if this has been previously suggested, but I think it would be nice if documents separated into pages, instead of it being one page that extends more as you write. Or at least an option to toggle on something like that would be nice. And maybe the ability to track your word count as you're writing, instead of having to exit the document to check. That is all, thank you for even just consideration. <3
Would it be possible for characters (and some other pages like items, floras, foods and such, rather "small", non landscape things) to have a picture format more alike to a profile/file picture instead of a header?
Most character pictures probably aren't of low height and very wide. If I upload a picture that has similiar proportions to a portrait, it ends up just showing one low and wide part of the characters face, like the nose and cheeks or the eyes and some hair on the sides (Like this for example: https://i.imgur.com/byi3VTK.jpeg). Maybe make it an option to choose between header or portrait for page types.
Random image from google as an example for what I mean: https://curtainhasfallen.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/character-file-maria.jpg

To add on to this, could it be possible to make the pictures changing optional and have one picture that shows on the page display? Sometimes I have alot of pictures in a pages gallery and would prefer a certain one to represent that page like a map or colour or drawing and have the rest there for reference material. It can be a bit confusing at times to have so many different pictures there all at once.
Those are both great suggestions; I'll add them to the to-do list. I'm working on a redesign of the gallery page now (and other new features around images), so this is perfect timing! :)
On the subject of Pictures (noting the last few comments), I did have one suggestion. Would we be able to find a way to make one uploaded picture appear/count for multiple items?
For example, I might have some buildings that I don't care enough about to make a custom photo for, but I'd still like the thumbnail to be a picture of the town. Let's say I have a nice basil photo of a desert town. I'd like to use that same photo for several "buildings" without having to re-upload that same photo and take up data on my account. Does that make sense?
This might be too big of an overhaul to seriously consider, but I thought it might be worth mentioning. What I'd picture is that each Notebook.ai account would have a "gallery" or "library" where all photos ultimately get uploaded to. When I go into a page and click the "upload photo" button, I have an option to link/pull from an image that's already in my "library" rather than upload a new one (so multiple pages can share the same photo file).
This is all awesome feedback. There's a ton of requests for various features around images, so I'm recording and organizing them all so I can hopefully do one big update that reworks how images work and addresses them all, so all these little suggestions will go a long way. :)
Right now I'm planning something very similar to what you've described, where you have a single gallery you can upload images to and can tag as many pages as you want in each image to have that image show up on their pages. Being able to link those images directly while you're editing the page would be a nice touch, too.
I'm also planning on the ability to set the primary image(s) for each page (instead of just making it a random one), which should also include support for different aspect ratios (landscape vs portrait) as well as some basic cropping/zooming for you to make sure it looks the best in the site.
Lots more in the works too, but I really appreciate all the feedback and I'm working hard on some big changes. Keep it coming! :)
The following keyboard controls are supported across Notebook.ai. All keyboard controls are disabled when editing a document or notebook page.
