Hey all,

We've been getting a lot more suggestions for things related to the forums. A few notable mentions:

  • Blocking/reporting/muting functionality
  • Some kind of "recent activity" page to see recent posts across all boards

Since the forums are powered by the awesome open source thredded and not my own code, I figured it'd be a good idea to start a thread here so we can start compiling suggestions in a singular place to pass on to those developers on occasion.

To that end, I'd like to keep all forum-related suggestions in this thread, and all suggestions for the rest of Notebook.ai in the other suggestions thread. I'd love to hear more about how the forums could continue to be improved, though. :)

Yes, please please please see if something can be done about a blocking/muting/flagging option. I can't stress how uncomfortable it makes me when people I'd rather not be in contact me message me even when I ask them not to, and there's nothing I can do about it.

@SupernaturalSyGuy How do you see that working? Just the OP being able to lock/unlock responses to a thread?

I was thinking that the people participating in the rp would be able to have the ability to pause/hold the rp by having a button to press/click. This would give them the opportunity to 'pause' the rp itself, stopping others from posting, and also allow the person that paused it to not have to worry about reading through so much just to catch up with others.

I'll have to think about this some more, and message you with whatever I come up with.

I think I mentioned this a while back in the other thread, and I'm not sure if this is a forum thing or not, but I'd really enjoy being able to mute the forums/temporarily turn off notifications for when I'm working.

@ninja_violinist you can unfollow discussions, which might be what you're looking for. Near the top-right corner of the page when you click on a forum, there's a thing that says either "follow this discussion" or "stop following this discussion." You just click on that, and it should change.

@ninja_violinist

@halfging3r That is true! But I was thinking more along the lines of something that can temporarily disable all notifications from the forums as I work on my worldbuilding for an hour which doesn't require me to first sift through and unfollow all my conversations, and then go back afterwards and refollow the ones I care about.
I just get easily distracted by the forums, so for me at least it'd be cool to be able to tune them out without having to go into the forums to tune them out, if that makes sense.

I absolutely agree with this!

YOU ACTUALLY CAN!

WOWEEEEEEE

Lmao just quote this response to see what I did. For the second, you can use three astriks, and for one, you can just use underscores.

For the main discussions page, I think it would be nice to have a drop-down of links that link to the "world-building", "writing", roleplaying", "genre lounges", "resources", and "off-topic" portions of the same page would be extremely helpful and useful!
