This is a little complicated of a concept but stay with me here (or just blame my current ASMR obsession) okay?
An immortal (or god, I have yet to decide), as punishment for crimes against the pantheon, gets reincarnated as a mortal to be forced to experience the pain of loss. They're an adult now and, sure, they've experienced the loss of a couple of family members and pets but nothing to break them truly.
Until they meet them.
This immortal had spent so much time watching the stars, watching them appear and disappear in what seemed like a fleeting moment compared to their lifespan, so why did they look so much more beautiful when reflected in their eyes?

(Oo, good question. For some reason my mind went to a kind of tattoo parlor x flower shop vibe? Something about a reincarnated god becoming a tattoo artist because of the finite symbolism of stories on skin itches my brain just right.)
