The world used to have a god. They would always be present, protecting the world they loved. But one day, they disappeared. Later that year, a local king rose to power. He soon became the most powerful person in that world. People whispered that it had to do with the king's new right-hand man, but no one ever said it out loud. That sort of talk could get someone killed, after all.
The king's first-born was a curious person. And an adventurous one, too. But they were never allowed to leave the castle, much less the city. For safety reasons, their parents said. And so, instead of the world, they explored the castle. Over and over and over again. This, however… this was the first time they'd found this particular passage. In there, hidden away from the eyes of the world, was the reason their parents had gotten their power. The Mist-Walker. Something they'd only read about in books.
Maybe this mysterious being could be the one to finally let them leave the palace and go on the adventure they'd always wanted to go on.

This sounds interesting. May I join? I will be going to bed, so it'll be a few hours minimum before a character is made, but I would like to join if that is okay.
Ah! I see it's taken. Ima just stalk then? If it's fine?
Thank you! You can post a template if you'd like! If creation is delayed, I have school and no music to tune people out since my earbuds are broken, creating a lack of focus. I do apologize, but I'll get the character made as soon as possible!
Alright! I'll get a template up as soon as I can. And that's fine, I totally understand. :)
(Here's a basic template! Feel free to add anything you want to it.)
Name:
Age:
Gender/sexuality:
Appearance:
Personality:
Likes:
Dislikes:
Talents:
Powers, if any:
Brief background:
Other:
Name: Prince Adrian (I am not attempting to make a last name…)
Age: Sixteen
Gender/sexuality: Trans male (kept the name since it's gender-neutral), pan-ace (why is making everyone ace how I prevent smut from being a possibility?)
Appearance: He has short, slightly uneven due to cutting it himself, brown hair with emerald green eyes that appear dull most of the time due to how bored he is in his confinement to the castle. He has quite pale skin and is around 5'5.
Personality: He is definitely adventurous. While bored beyond belief in confinement, he is otherwise energetic and optimistic. Even so, he is caring to all of those he knows, rarely arguing to go outside as he knows the answer will be no. He is also introverted due to a lack of communication with the outside world and due to avoiding his parents who would hate it if he came out to them. To them, he's still a girl, even with short hair, which they did punish him for cutting.
Likes: Open spaces, exploring, accepting and understanding people, helping others, and animals.
Dislikes: Confinement, his parents, unaccepting people, and the standards he's held up to.
Talents: Art and writing. He's had a lot of time to express himself while in what he considers confinement.
Powers, if any: He does not have any sort of powers.
Brief background: Adrian basically spent his life from birth to now in the castle. At the age of thirteen, he figured out that he wanted to be a boy. His parents seemed to hate him for being born a female anyway, however they only hated him more when he mentioned that idea. Then he was confined to certain areas as punishment.
Other: Nothing that I can think of.
(I'm surprised I got this done before the end of the school day.)
(Same with the ace thing. Same.)
Name: Ina
Age: They don't remember. Looks in their late 20s/early 30s.
Gender/sexuality: Agender (they/them), ace, aro.
Human appearance: 6'0" tall. Bright green eyes, warm brown skin. Waist-length, straight black hair.
True appearance: 7'2" tall. Eyes are still bright green, with white, cat-like pupils and black sclera. Warm brown skin with white, vine-like tattoos swirling over their chest and arms. Pointed ears, sharp features. Longer hair (it also moves a little on its own).
Personality: Tired but cares. Cares but in a very subtle way. Rarely actually smiles, but their body language is usually more indicative of what they're feeling. Just wants to make the world a better place and protect people who can't protect themselves.
Likes: Shiny things, keeping people safe, sweet foods.
Dislikes: Bullies, snow, sour things, people trying to use them for power.
Talents: They're amazing at cooking and baking. Good with a quarterstaff, thanks to lots and lots of practice.
Powers, if any: Able to manipulate time. Creates an area that has a sort of whitewashed appearance, with white fog covering the ground. Anywhere the fog is, the weird light is. And anywhere the light is, time manipulation can occur.
Brief background: They used to be the prisoner of the god of a different world. They managed to escape and came to this world, where they settled into the role of protector. People were aware of them, giving them the name 'mist-walker'. Some people set their sights on them for their power, and one person succeeded. They were locked up and forced to do the king's bidding.
Other: They have two weaknesses. A flower called Death's Heart can cause them to become mortal, and a pair of silver shackles (which were used by the god from another world) can control them.
(Are there any specific adventures Adrian would like to go on, or would he simply like to see the world?)
(As far as I'm concerned, he just wants to see the world and what it has to offer. I was thinking his fantasies become real. As I mentioned, he does write and draw in his spare time. I'd love for him to see things he draws or writes about, like mythical creatures, usage of powers, etc., all while going on an adventure outside. That alone would be an adventure to him, though. I have no specifics, but I want this to be fun and interesting.)
(Alright! We'll go with that, then. If there is any specific thing you want him to be able to see, just tell me and I'll make sure to incorporate it into the story! Do you have any questions before I post the starter?)
(Um, not really. However, I was thinking that the royal family eventually realizes that Adrian left and they send out the royal guards to return him home so they can punish him. It creates some drama.)
(Ooh, yes, I like that! Alright, I will get the starter up as soon as I can. :)
Ina had only ever been captured twice. Once by a god, and once by a king. The second time was worse, in their opinion. After all, the god had been so much more powerful than they were, and they had been able to do nothing to stop it from happening. But the king was just a man. He’d used trickery and deception to ensnare them, so it was their own fault he'd gained power over them. It had been a good plan, they couldn’t argue with that. But they still didn’t like it. In fact, they hated it. The king used them for evil, to build his power. At least then, when he was still fighting, they had still gotten to see the outside world. And they’d been able to be their true self.
Now the king had power, and he hardly needed them at all. Ina spent weeks on end trapped in the small, dark space the king sent them to when they weren’t needed. Surrounded by Death’s Heart, it was all they could do to keep their eyes open. And even if they hadn’t been enveloped by the faint scent of blood the flowers gave off, it wasn’t as if they would be able to get very far. The shackles around their wrists prevented them from making their own choices, and there was nothing they could do to get them off. Only the one who had put it on– and those with their blood, they supposed– could get them off. But if the king had a child, they had never seen them. The king would never let someone get near his most valuable weapon, after all. Ina curled into a tighter ball, trying to stay as far away from the flowers as possible. In such a small room, however, they didn't have much luck.
(I was messing around with my new cosplay! Sorry!)
The king did indeed have a child. He actually had two, being upset that his first-born was a female. He wanted an heir who would rule like he did, not someone who should be protected, maintaining innocence, and doing absolutely nothing while the boys could do anything. When his first-born decided to become a male, he was more than outraged. He considered abandoning or even killing the child. However, in the end, he just confined the thing to a small part of the castle, only having a couple of rooms and the area where Ina was kept, confining them both. He decided that whatever else happened was out of his hands. If an escape happened, he'd punish them both before eventually killing them, and if not, then he'd just let them die there, knowing that Ina would eventually cause themselves to become a mortal. Everything was perfect to him and his wife and son, both equally as corrupt as he is.
Little did they know that Adrian was still trying to find some way out of his confinement. He hated being stuck in the castle for all of his life, and now most of the last three years had been in the small area he was forced to stay in for what was most likely the rest of his life. He didn't even know that he would soon find the escape that he had been looking for almost his entire life. He had just been walking around, the only thing he could do. Bored, frustrated, and honestly considering ending it just to escape the miserable life he was forced to live, he slammed his fists into the wall. This revealed a secret passage, the one that Ina was in. He was confused. Secret passages like this didn't exist, did they? Not in the real world, but ones forced by magic did, the door concealed to look like the wall. Curious, he stepped inside, not sure what to expect.
(You're good!)
Ina squeezed their eyes shut at the sound of the door opening. Whatever the king wanted this time, they sincerely hoped it was easy. Easy and not involving killing people. Maybe they could simply go and scout out something, or spy on someone. Those were easy. Hearing someone step into the room, Ina curled up tighter, trying to disappear behind the tall, pure white flowers. They were waiting for the sharp feeling in the back of their head that meant the king was using the shackles to control them. It was the only way he could get them to do anything, as they would never comply with him of their own free will. But when that feeling didn't come, Ina finally looked up. There was someone standing there. Someone who wasn't the king. They sat up slowly, fighting against the fatigue that always pulled at them in this room. It took a little while for their eyes to focus, but they were finally able to see a small person with short brown hair standing there.
"Who are you?" Ina asked, their voice coming as a surprise to them. It'd been a while since they'd said anything. They reached up, pushing hair out of their face. One of the silver shackles slid down their wrist, reminding them that even if this person helped them get out, it would be useless. "Do you know if the king has a child?" The second question was asked in a desperate tone of voice. Even if this person here could do nothing about it, Ina would at least have some hope to cling onto.
Adrian was quite surprised when Ina mentioned the king. Anger quickly filled his eyes and tone, showing that he disliked his father. "The king? You mean my father who banished me to a small portion of the kingdom because I decided that I want to be a male rather than a female when he was already angry that I was born as a female? The one who kept me from doing anything because I was a girl and 'girls shouldn't do anything but sit there and look pretty while barely eating to not gain weight and look ugly'? The one who loves his second-born, the one who was actually born a male while wishing that his first-born didn't exist? That king?! Well, if you couldn't tell, he definitely has a child! I'd say two of them, but he hasn't considered me a part of this family for three years!" His anger got the best of him as he spoke, ranting to Ina.
He then took a deep breath to calm down and apologize. "I am incredibly sorry. I do not like my father, and he truly did banish me to this area of the castle. I assume you were banished, too? You're in shackles, and this place is tiny. I knew my father was a cruel man, but this? If there is anything I can do to help you, I will. I am Prince, or I think I still have a royal title since I haven't been fully disowned, Adrian, the king's first-born. You are?" He hoped he could come off as caring, as he generally was aside from when his father was mentioned. He had a strong hatred of the person who made his life torture. He really did want to end it sometimes, feeling like the afterlife, if there was one, was his only escape.
Ina's eyes widened as the boy suddenly burst into a speech about how much he hated the king. Although the sudden noise was startling, they were glad the boy had the same opinions about the king as they did. Obviously, their grievances with him were different. But they both had them. And… and this boy, this boy who hated the king… he was his child!
"Adrian. Prince Adrian." Ina's eyes shone. They were finally going to be free. "I'm Ina. Can you… can you take these off?" They held out their wrists, displaying the shackles. From what they remembered, all one had to do was attempt to take them off, and they would fall right off. "I will repay you tenfold if you can get me out of here." Escaping the actual castle wouldn't be too difficult, at least by the time the effects of the flowers wore off. It would take a few hours, but the prince probably knew a place where they could rest for that time period. And then… they could go back to how it was before. They'd have to be more careful, but they'd finally be free.
Adrian nodded. "Of course. Don't worry about repaying me, though. We both have something against my father. He put us both in confinement for ridiculous and unnecessary reasons. I have no idea why he locked you in such a small area where you'd never be found or cared about, but I can guarantee that the reason for it was ridiculous and unnecessary. You seem to be nice and undeserving of such punishment. To be fair, I assume a lot of people are undeserving of this. Anyways, I'll take care of those now." He walked over to Ina and after a quick attempt at trying to remove the shackles, as they said they would, they fell right off. Adrian couldn't help but smile slightly once he finished. "There you go. You should be free now. I'm not sure why my father filled this space with flowers, though. They are in other areas, but that's just in the garden outside among other flowers. I know a way to get you out of here without coming into contact with any of them, though. If they fill this room and the area of the garden directly outside, they must have an effect on you…"
(Hey? Can we have a separate forum? This RP seems pretty nice!)
Ina watched breathlessly as Adrian took off their shackles. The moment they came off, Ina felt a huge weight fall off their shoulders. Their head stopped hurting so much, too. It had become such a normal thing to feel pain there that they had stopped noticing it.
“Thank you. Thank you so much,” Ina breathed, scooping up the shackles. These needed to be kept with them, and them alone. They tucked them somewhere safe, then looked up at the prince. “Ah, yes. I’m afraid I’ll have to bother you for a place to stay for a couple of hours so the effects of these flowers can wear off. After that, I’ll grant you a favor. I can’t put you in danger and not repay you for your kindness. Is there anything you’d like?” Ina struggled to their feet. “Maybe to get out of here? It sounds as though your life is not what you wished it was.” They wobbled but managed to slowly make their way towards the door.
"I guess you do know what I want. I can't help but say I'm surprised with that." He truly was surprised that Ina knew what he had wanted. "To be fair, you probably desire the same thing. You've been confined in there for who knows how long…." He sighed as he realized that before changing the topic of conversation to a better thing. "Anyways, while it's not a large bedroom, I do have an area for us to hang out until you're doing better. You can just relax or sleep if you need to. I'll just be drawing or writing about random adventures while you do so, and I'll try not to bother you."
He grabbed Ina's hand and led them to the bedroom he was talking about. It truly was a small room. There was a bed and a desk, but there was still enough room for the two of them. "Welcome to my bedroom. It's not much, but you should be fine here, and we can maybe explore when you're better. If you want to, anyway."
Ina nodded. They did see similarities between their situation and Adrian's, which was how they'd been able to guess. "Ah, thank you." Ina allowed the prince to lead them to the bedroom. They didn't care that it was small. It didn't have Death's Heart in it, which was all they wanted.
"I'll just… be over there." Ina waved vaguely to the corner of the room and staggered over there. Their head was already clearer without the constant smell of Death's Heart, but it took time for them to be able to revert to their true form. Oh, they couldn't wait. Ina settled down in the corner, not wanting to take up too much of Adrian's space. They were a guest there, after all. They let their eyes close, leaning their head against the wall.
About two hours later, Ina opened their eyes again. In that time, they'd subtly grown in size. They were also giving off a distinct aura of otherness. Ina hoped that their true form wouldn't scare the prince too much. If it did, they would make sure to get out of there as soon as possible.
"Ah…" Ina started, their voice slightly richer than before. "Prince? Do you want to get out of here?" They didn't know if the king had noticed their absence, but it would probably be better to get out of there before he did. And they needed to make sure the prince was safe. Ah, it was nice to be able to take care of someone again. To be able to protect instead of hurt.
