A widely varied group of people, the Rogue Band is less of a faction and more an occupation. Ranging from child thieves and small cutpurses to anarchists and criminal lords, those of the Rogue Band make their living through crime and mercenary fighting. Only one thing matters to this group- money. Whoever offers the most rooks and ravens gains the services of the ruthless, unscrupulous Rogue Band, whose members will attack and rob nobles and peasants alike for what they can get. From pickpocketing to murder, no job is too horrifying for one who wears the copper serpent of a Rogue.

Operating from the fabled Mount Dakan, led by the equally legendary Adina Thycaris, and including such warriors as Adamon Blackhold, Corby Estonor, and later Kalia Anzora, the Rebel faction, though small, is a force to be reckoned with.
They fight in the name of the imprisoned King Kyren Anzora against the Protectorate. An upright group that follows its leader's strict moral compass, the Rebels hold themselves to standards of warfare that Alton Treadnight scorns. The vision in the eyes of the Rebel faction is the Ruling, and its Defender, that their beloved leader promised Malcera long ago.

Presenting a facade more noble than even that of the Rebels, the Protectorate has taken in a vast percentage of Malcera's population, perpetuating a lie that anyone can work their way to noble status, which effectively isolates the country in a wallow of self-focused struggle. While most Protectorate soldiers believe they fight for a noble cause, Lord Protector Sir Alton Treadnight and his commanders desire their own power more than anything else, and are willing to break any rule to get it- as long as they do it carefully enough that their false benevolence is not discovered by the common people they oppress.
