2046 on Earth, the remaining humans are split between the elite ferropaths (metal manipulators), and the powerless commons

The Rise - autumn 2026, the ferropaths officially ascend to complete power, having taken the highest rank in every single country. They unite their government to create the Steel Empire, a coalition between the five most powerful families each controlling a continent. The Empire is a full meritocracy, achieving rank based only on skill. The monarchy isn't limited to one family, but switches depending on who's the most powerful ferropath at the time. Lorelei Marrow is the current Queen (as of 2046)

no "magic," only metal manipulators, which make up only 12% of the population

metal while controlled by a ferropath is free from the laws of gravity, physics, etc.

The technology is extremely advanced due to the metal manipulation, but only available to the aristocratic ferropaths

• females are typically the more powerful ferropaths


• the ferropaths live a life of ease, but are all trained soldiers and deadly assassins


• commons are seen as subhuman degenerates who are lucky to not be completely wiped out


• the queen before Lorelei Marrow was suspiciously killed a little after a year of her reign... hmm.
