In 1932, an epidemic of paranormal infections is spreading across the world- people are rapidly becoming infected and transforming into vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beasts, and the misuse of magic and witchcraft is spreading at alarming rates.
Budding scientist and inventor Julian Murdock has the answer: using the time machine he has recently perfected, he’ll travel forward 100 years to see what solutions the future has in store and bring them back to the present day. But when he arrives, he find that, instead of a cure, paranormal creatures have more or less assimilated into human society. Worst of all, his time machine was all but destroyed on the journey there, leaving him stranded in 2032.
His only hope lies in his estranged vampire cousin Charlie, whom he hasn't seen since he was seventeen years old. Unfortunately, when Julian finally tracks him down, he discovers that his cousin has spent the better part of the twentieth century as a petty con-man and grifter, traveling around the country in order to evade the law and his less-than-desirable associates.
Needless to say, Julian isn't exactly thrilled about this- but that doesn't change the fact that Charlie is all he's got left. So with no other choice, Julian joins Charlie on his perpetual roadtrip across paranormal America, all the while trying to rebuild his time machine and get back home- if he can avoid getting killed by one of Charlie's many, many enemies, that is. And maybe - just maybe - he'll learn that this world of monsters isn't as monstrous as he believes.
