History - What is Royaume sa Cetiri (the Four Kingdoms)’s history?

Planet and Moons:

The world is called Royaume sa Cetiri but most just call it the Four Kingdoms. There are four moons called la Lune de Plume (the Moon of Feathers), Bulan sa Kalayo (Moon of Fire), Luna na Pechal (Moon of Sadness), and Taiyin de Ai (Moon of Love) and one sun-like star called Mingvida.

The world is organized into five territories (or kingdoms); the Land of Flowers, the Ice Lands, the Land of Fire, and the East Lands. You may notice this is only four, well there also the Unknown which is not considered a kingdom (it IS considered a territory) and no one goes there ever. It's very dangerous and all species will immediately perish if they try to enter except for skeletons and extremely powerful mages. The Merfolk's Sea is not considered a kingdom or a territory, despite making up 75% of the world.

Inhabitants:

The main species are Merpeople, humans (but not in the way that we know them, these humans can have naturally pastel hair and sometimes pastel skin), and skeletons. The humans are usually called Vides (vee-dess).

Rarely, skeletons have artifacts or gems imbedded in their bone called Kodes. Vides sometimes have freckles but this is only if they have human skintones (so no blue people with freckles). Merfolk often have patterns on their faces that are in one or two shades darker than their skin color (sky blue = medium blue pattern) which are also called Kodes.

There's a variety of genders throughout the Four Kingdoms but there are three sexes; Sede (say-day) which we would call male, Youen (yo-enn) which we would call female, and Nakta (nak-tuh) which is a sort of mix.

Culture:

There is no form of "divorce." The only way a marriage is b.roken off is if the marriage is deemed unlawful or one (or more) person in the marriage dies.

It is taboo for a landfolk to marry a merfolk, but there is a custom around it. The custom is that if a landfolk is to marry a merfolk, the landfolk should be male in sex. This is because merfolk have only one sex which means they can all birth children but landfolk have three sexes and only those within the female sex can birth.

Same gender marriage is not considered taboo and there isn't a sort of racism based on skin color. There is descrimination against merfolk shown by them not being considered citizens, merfolk-landfolk relationships are taboo, the Merfolk's Sea is not considered a territory or kingdom, and there are some landfolk who will even kill merfolk who they encounter. There was a Merfolk-rights movement first created by Dagat (King Aecor's father) which has made some progress.

In the old days, boys not much older than 13 years would be married off to an older man/woman/other in exchange for money or status. This tradition has been outlawed but it is still customary for men to marry young.

Marriage is currently only allowed at the age of 23 years old (at least).

Magic:

(wip)

There are tiers of magic;

Tier 1: Non-colored Magic. Simple levitation and matter manipulation spells.

Tier 2: Yellow Magic. Mostly easier healing spells and some harder matter manipulation spells.

Tier 3: Orange Magic. Spells to impose one's will on others and some empathy spells (feeling other peoples feelings). Harder matter manipulation spells and healing spells.

Tier 4: Purple Magic. Night vision, mind manipulation, and more healing and empathy spells.

Tier 5: Pink Magic. Middle tier. The hardest matter manipulation, healing, and empathy spells and also speed. When you learn Pink Magic is when you start learning spells of the four elements; water, fire, earth, and air. Most non-mages don't learn magic past the point of Pink Magic.

Tier 6: Green Magic. Magic tied to earth, including but not limited to, healing, matter manipulation, and plant spells.

Tier 7: White Magic. Tied to air, including but not limited to, flight, weather manipulation, and levitation spells.

Tier 8: Blue Magic. Tied to water, including but not limited to, temperature spells, speed spells, and time manipulation. Hard to learn.

Tier 9: Red Magic. Tied to fire, including but not limited to, duplication spells, shadow spells, and emotion manipulation.

Tier 10: Black Magic. The hardest magic. Including but not limited to, mind manipulation, shadow spells, and death spells.

Death:

(These are all only for the natives of these lands. If it was, say, someone who's parents were from the Land of Flowers but moved to the Ice Lands, they would wilt instead of melting.)

In the Land of Flowers, dead bodies wilt like flowers, their skin and hair slowly falling off until they are just a pile of bone. It is customary to bury dead bodies after the wilting process has begun but before it has finished. It's also customary to plant flowers on graves. Since most citizens of the Land of Flowers have flower names, it's customary to plant the type of flower that the person is named after (for instance, if the person is named Lily, there would be lilies planted on their grave). Dead bodies let off a sickly sweet smell.

In the Ice Lands, dead bodies melt into water. It's customary to throw dead bodies into the ocean before they are melted so they will melt into water and fill the ocean with their water. Dead bodies have no smell.

In the Land of Fire, the color of mourning is grey signifying ashes of a burnt out fire. Grey is customarily worn during funerals and such events.

Religion and Holidays:

<( ) />

The religion of the Land of Flowers is centered around plants. This religion is Terraceleste. The rituals include burning dead crops on the Harvest Moon (Kinahabi) and planting one flower outside of your house every month and making a prayer each time you water the flowers called Odili (April 1st on our calender) and it celeb.rates the start of spring.

The Ice Lands has a religion called Fudoya (foo-doi-uuh) that believes in one "god" (Huhani) who lives in the moon and created all creatures but is powerless now. Once a year, they celeb.rate the day Huhani created the Four Kingdoms by carving ice, putting up icy decorations, giving presents to one another, and other wintery activities. On December 10th (our calender), Huhani is allowed out of their moon prison and they come down and give gifts to all the children of the Ice Lands.

The East Lands has a religion called End. Enders (believers of End) believe that the world will end and an evil, all-powerful god will rise up and kill all except those who work hard and are loyal to the queen. It's customary for the queen to execute one civilian every year as a sacrifice to this evil god. The civilian is usually someone who cannot work, is very small, and is generally physicially feeble.

The Land of Fire has no religion. Once a year, the volcano on which the city is built errupts and there's a huge celeb.ration.
