Celebrate Mii Homes
Celebration
December 22-23 each year
The Malia Islands
Celebrate Mii Homes is notable for being just about every kind of celebration at once. It's a federal observance, state observance, proclivity holiday, and the Church of Malia Island has even claimed it as a local religious holiday. (Some island Proclivites do as well, but it is not formally observed by the temple of Ziya Khatib.)
On Celebrate Mii Homes day, all manner of things happen:
- A spot show is held - functioning similarly to the November Home Spot Show, however the spot show is not televised.
- Islanders are permitted to sell goods.
- Shows are performed, either at the concert hall or in some rare cases, for television broadcast. Natural Bunches: The Musical famously premiered at the 2018 Celebrate Mii Homes (and its third revival performed in 2020). They wanted to put on a fourth revival but the Queen vetoed it until 2022.
- Addresses are given to the islanders via Mii News on the morning of December 22, before the festivities begin. The King and Queen, the Prime Minister, and the Proclivity Minister typically speak, however others may give an address if they feel it is necessary.
- There is a home spot rap battle.
- In 2020 a spelling bee was held on December 23. It is unclear if that was tied to Celebrate Mii Homes or if it just happened to coincide with it.
- There's more!
Fudgie-wudgies are commonly provided to islanders, as well as gifted. It is customary for home spots to wake up to a wudgie on the foot of their bed.
The name comes from its status as a celebration of Mii Homes.
The first Celebrate Mii Homes occurred in 2018.
Celebrate Mii Homes is the most important holiday celebrated in the Malia Islands. Children long for it all year long, their parents and other adults begin preparing in April, and when that glorious day does come, the island is more active than it has ever been.
The Church of Malia Island holds an observance on December 22, however there is some debate on if it observes Celebrate Mii Homes as a religious holiday or if it just delivers a special message themed around the holiday, the way it might Independence Day, which is not a religious holiday in the islands.
The Temple of Ziya Khatib does not formally observe Celebrate Mii Homes, but individual proclivites may observe it as religiously as they wish.
There does not seem to be any connection between Islam and Celebrate Mii Homes.
(In the Malia Islands, religious leaders may observe holidays religiously or in a secular fashion, or not at all. What they do in regards to a holiday is their own business until they start forcing followers of said religion to do anything. This does not apply on Proclivity Island, where the Supreme Ruler has every right to force people to do things.)
In 2020 the Proclivity Primacy protested Celebrate Mii Homes on the grounds that it was anti-proclivity. The Queen just looked at them. Senior leaders continued to protest but eventually let the spots get on with their day.
